"When I searched online to shop for Nikon D500 DSLR with 16-80mm Lens on 5/25/17, I found that this merchant advertised two MB-D17 multi power battery packs for free when most other online merchants just included one for free. Their advertising totally attracted my attention because the market price of the battery pack was $450. That’s to say that they provided an additional $450 in savings. When I called this merchant to order, they told me that it was a web error. But they changed their mind when I tried to hang up the phone. They promised me that they would honor the web error and give me the second battery pack free of charge to cheat my credit card information. After I placed my order and received an invoice, I found that I was overcharged $450, the market price of the second battery pack. When I called back to complain, they told me that it was a typo, and sent me another invoice. The newer invoice didn't charge me anything for the second battery pack, but I found that there was a fine print stating "Above item has been canceled" listed underneath.
When I realized it was a scam, I suspended my order on 5/25/17 and submitted my review to the BBB website on 6/2/17. When a customer submits a complaint to the BBB website, the business will be asked to respond within 14 days. Otherwise, the customer’s review will be posted on the BBB website. That’s why I didn’t cancel my order right away: I wanted to give the merchant a second chance to honor their promise. However, this merchant designed a perfect plan to respond to my review by using “You did not cancel your order” as an excuse to send me the incomplete package “as is” on 6/9/17. The package arrived at my home on 6/14/17, and they posted their response regarding my review to the BBB website on 6/15/17. Their time frame control was perfect because the deadline for them to respond was 6/16/17. This merchant was tricky in that they not only refused to honor their promise, but they also did not allow me to leave a bad review on the BBB website.
On 6/15/17, I emailed the merchant to complain, and they answered “since you did not cancel this order, so we shipped it as is”. I was upset so I called my credit card company, Citibank, on the same day to file a dispute process (#2017186019459). Citibank treated the business too leniently by giving the merchant 90 days to respond, and this merchant took 88 days to do so ( from 6/15 to 9/11 ). When I received the final notice from Citibank, it was on 9/11/17. The 7/13/17 deadline of the merchant's “30 days returning window” had already long passed. This merchant was very cunning and didn't want me to return the incomplete package on purpose.
This merchant did not want to resolve this issue with me at all. I complained to the BBB website since 6/2/2017, I am still filing a dispute process with them right now (11/16/2017). They just abused the BBB conciliation process by responding with the same argument, "since you did not cancel this order, so we shipped it as is”, again and again. They even delayed my credit card’s dispute process by almost 3 months to force me to miss their 30-day Money-Back-Guarantee returning window.
This merchant is not a good company to do online business with. They have lots of errors on their website. When you place your order, what you see is not what you will get. Even if the order has been proved by the managers, they can still deny, modify, charge extra, or cancel the item that was listed on your original invoice. You don't have any peace of mind when doing business with them. You don't even know who can be trusted: one manager can deny the promise made by another managers. This merchant cannot be trusted and I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone."
