Good prices, but their staff and policies can't be trusted

"After ordering $800+ in furniture, represented as being in stock, I was repeatedly put off as the shipping date turned from weeks into months. After confronting the operations manager and owner, I got the sort of belligerent response I'd expect from a company that wasn't quite on the up-and-up. I won't say they defrauded me per se, as they did cancel my order in the end, but the customer service is unresponsive, and nasty when confronted.

If you can get an item to ship right away, go for it. But don't leave your money with these guys on a backorder. They have sharp business practices and an attitude to match.

We have been trying to contact this customer since the issue was reported of damaged furniture and we have not been able to reach them. After a few weeks of calling daily we were able to successful communicate and a replacement is on its way to the customer. We strive to fix problems immediately but do also rely on communication from all parties to make sure we are replacing the correct piece before shipping. ”

Lowest price, no tax, free S/H, BEST customer service

"It was my first time ever purchasing furnitures online. I took the plunge with AFASTORES.COM for the following reasons:
1. For what I need, afastores.com has absolutely lowest price among all brick and mortar stores, as well as online stores
2. It has the best selection of various colors
3. It takes no sale tax in my state
4. It charges $0 for shipping and handling of the entire order
5. Topping it off, afastores.com knocked off an additional 10% of the entire order when my large order >= $2,
6. It also includes PayPal as a payment method which sweetened the deal further where I can spread my payments into 6 installments without any interest when paid in full in 6 months

What really made me taking the time to write this review, despite of our full plate, is the intersections with its customer service after the purchase. I unfortunately found out a different make/model/design of one big item that I preferred though the item that I've bought here was very beautiful, after my entire shipment has been shipped/in-transit. Knowing the return policy, I immediately contacted the store around midnight Saturday evening. Obviously the store was closed. I then sent an email with the slight hope that someone will read my request to return. Well...my hope wasn't entirely unfounded. Josh actually responded to my email very early Sunday morning. The email reaffirmed that it was indeed too late to return without incurring a hefty cost to ship it back as well as a 10% restocking fee, when the shipment has been in transit. That's afastores.com's policy.

While I fully understood the policy, it's natural that I was very disappointed. This is where what Josh did which, in my opinion, set afastores.com apart from all my online purchase experiences in the past: Josh offered a compromise to me, a solution that effectively earned a top rank on his very own customer service , as well as afastores.com apart from the rest.

I definitely will come back here for future purchases and comfortably recommend it to everyone.

Bad customer service

"Delivery was very delayed, and when I repetitively tried contacting customer service, they would not tell me the location of the couch and constantly promised that it would be delivered on certain days, when it never was. The customer service representatives were very rude, and one even hung up on me. This has been a very frustrating delivery process...over a month after my order and still no couch.

"I am a happy customer of AFA stores. The selection of items is outstanding. The customer service is even better if you can imagine.
I purchased the Chintaly table. This is also a good company and they back up their product. I dealt with Josh Norman at AFA stores who is absolutely the best at customer relations. He informed me, worked with me and my needs for assembly and delivery and warranty issues. He is phenomenal on responding to customer requests. This is amazing for this online industry. He describes the product well so that you know what to expect. But, his follow through on status, delivery and any other questions that you have are beyond 100% satisfaction. I highly recommend this site for your home furnishings.

Merchant must properly disclose shipping can take no less than one month

"Buyer beware - "7 to 10 days - In Stock" does not mean it will be shipped to customer. Nearly one month and merchandise has not been received. Rep who called was very rude - not surprising considering the company has a culture of not disclosing the facts. You can find most of their products elsewhere and receive much sooner. My order was cancelled.

All prospective buyers should be warned, merchandise will arrive no earlier than 1 month after the order is placed although your credit card is charged on the day of purchase. The company engages in misleading and false advertising and should disclose the true delivery time prior to a consumer completing the transaction.

Our website states items will leave the warehouse in 7-10 days. Our website specifically uses the phrase "leaves the warehouse" to make it clear that this is how long it takes to ship or "leave". The delivery time is not specifically quoted because we deliver to the entire country and as such delivery times can vary based on location. This customers order left the warehouse 6 days after it was ordered which was sooner than the 7-10 days quoted. Leaves the warehouse should not be confused with when it delivers. They are not the same. "Placed order on March 13. Still waiting for delivery appointment. Too long to wait for a dining room set. Unless its a house or a custom car order from the factory nothing should take this long in 2017. Absurd"

Above and beyond

"I ordered a slipper chair and the chair was delivered but the wrong color. I submitted a message for someone to contact me in the evening and I received an email the SAME night! After hours from a customer service rep from afa and he worked with me until 11 pm at night to resolve my issue! My issue was resolved promptly! He went above and beyond the call of duty to make it right. Although i did receive a wrong product, the company took the time to make it right and in turn I would most certainly buy again. I was very impressed with the care, urgency my csr Josh took to make it right. Thank you! "
