Sent damaged furnace and blames customer

"Bought a scratch and dent and was assured that it's minor sheet metal cosmetic dents. Went my contractor unwrapped the furnace, There are cracks, on the sheet metal, lots of missing screws inside, blower motor completely shifted to one side and potentially a defective heat exchanger.

Alpine wanted to reimburse me $150 and expected me to install a unit that was a fire hazard and potentially leak carbon monoxide into my system. Fortunately I had a great contractor who refused to install it (and to protect themselfs from any liabilities)

When I refuse to keep the unit due to safety concern, alpine air wanted me to pay $150 to ship the unit back which they claimed to be half of the shipping cost and still buy a new unit from them.

They blamed me for not opening it up for inspection. The furnace was completely wrapped up and the pallet was undamaged. Obviously a bait and switch scheme.

Thank you for reaching out, I am very sorry for the frustrations which you have experienced. All of our scratch and dent items are supposed to have an inspection done at our warehouse prior to shipping to ensure functionality and safety, I am researching your unit now to verify if that happened and who our associates involved were. My sincere apologies that the unit seems to have had further damage than advertised, I can understand your frustration. I have reviewed your case with our customer service team and though it is outside of our normal scratch and dent policy, we have agreed to issue you return authorization for the unit.

You should have received an email with return instructions and a return Bill of Lading, please let us know if you have any questions regarding the return set up/scheduling with the carrier. Please contact us with tracking number verification once the unit is picked up by the carrier specified in your return instructions already emailed. Upon confirmation that your unit is in transit back to our warehouse, we will issue credit in full to your card used for payment. Should you wish to purchase a new unit, we would be happy to apply your credit to the new order.

Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance or if you have any questions, I am happy to help. Again, I am very sorry for the frustrations which you experienced and thank you for reaching out.

Great unit, great price. Terrible instructions.

"Like many others have said, this is an awesome heating unit at a great price. Alpine was an absolute pleasure to deal with. The instructions from Blueridge, however, are the worst I've ever seen. Several of the assembly diagrams contradict each other. Some are dead wrong. Tons of hardware with no descriptions of what it is supposed to be use for. Be ready to improvise. I had to call Alpine at one point and they were super helpful.

Can't go wrong with this unit, just be prepared for some frustration with the instructions if you're installing yourself.

I understand that we have sent out the correct replacement cord and instructions for return with a prepaid label for you to return the incorrect cord initially on your order.
