"Ordered a computer case from them on a Monday, did not receive a tracking email within 3 days, so I called them on the following Monday ( this purchase was around the July 4th holiday). I was told that my order was on back order (I stated in my order that I would accept a substitution, so I was initially perplexed). Again, being a holiday weekend and understanding that there may have been some confusion, I accepted a substitute case, received tracking information the next day, and the case was on my porch Thursday afternoon.

The case was reasonable for the value, the total price w/free shipping was fantastic, and the service was responsive to my needs.

I'm very happy with my purchase. I will give these guys another chance and hope that business continues to improve.

"I ordered a Inno3D GeForce FX5200. Although their web page does not contain any specific technical detail about the card, they posted following detail that lead me to buy one.

Nvidia GeForce FX5200 128 MB DDR(4ns) fast memory 8X AGP, 1 Monitor+TV Out

As technical people know, 4ns is high end for video card, and good for overclocking. When I received the card, I found that it actually uses 6ns memory with 64bit interface. (No heatsink on memory unlike ones reviewed online.)

Memory Part : N2DS25616BT-6K Rated for 333Mhz DDR

Now, I can't belive any of their listings on PriceWatch. Including following : Geforce3 TI 200 TITANIUM. 4ns NVIDIA 64MB AGP VIDEO With Heatsink & Cooling Fan

I am in search of purchasing 30 video cards, and very glad that I only purchased one from Amamax. (I was afraid of something like this happening.)

The cases were shipped from Texas via UPS ground on the 8th & were received in Ohio on the 14th . UPS tracking was working properly, & the goods were delivered as ordered & undamaged.

"I purchased a Geforce4 TI 4200 about November-ish. It worked fine up until about march where it decided to die on me. So I RMA'd it for a new one, but they did not have it in stock. So I opted to get a Geforce FX 5600 card instead, which keep in mind, I am still waiting to received since about 2 months ago. This company needs to answer their phone calls or return calls from their voice machine. I am still waiting for my $150+ card to come and I am extremely angry and will probably never buy from this company again. My RMA # is 9456."

"I have bought 2 cases from them and found them to be pretty decent. The first one was fit and fine. However the second one's acrylic was slightly scratched from inside and also the side window was a simple one rather than the web spider window as shown on the site. I believe these are minor issues & din't even care to ask for return or anything. I think they offer good cases for g8 prices.

Things I like about them:
1>g8 prices for cases
2>they try to reply to the customer comments here.
Things I dislike:
1>They don't have a toll free no.

"i have ordered a few cases from this company and have recieved all without any porblems and all in a timely maner . the prices are verygood . i have never had a problem with them . the cheap cases are cheap . but for 23$ shipped for a pc case i was surprised at what i got . i didn't expect much for the price to be honost . for 23$ shipped with a power supply you wouldn't think you would get alot . but other than the cases being alittle on the flimsy side , meaning thin metal , they aren't bad at all . dont think you can really find a better deal on a pc case for the price they ask . "

"Monday (14:36CDT) - ordered a video card listed as in-stock.

Tuesday (~16:00CDT) - i call to find out why item hasn't shipped. customer service tells me the card was out-of-stock but a shipment would arrive wednesday morning and my card would ship that day.

Thursday (~17:00CDT) - i call to find out why item hasn't shipped. customer service tells me shipment was sent to wrong address and my card would probably ship friday. i canceled the order.

my primary complaint is communication. had they e-mailed or called me monday night or tuesday morning when they recognized the problem i would be more understanding. they did not contact me once. i had to spend an hour just trying to find out what was going on. as it stands, they wasted a week of my life.

however, i received the video card, 9 days after i cancelled the order, in a smashed open UPS box with no packing material inside. i find this extremely odd considering it was not even in stock when i cancelled.
after trying several times to get ahold of customer service i gave up and left a message. two days later i leave another message. nothing.

after a few more days i call a couple more times and get a human. the guy was nice and resolved the issue, hopefully, for good. at least i didn't have to contact the BBB.

unprofessional at best. shop at your own risk.

"My initial order from Amamax went predictably, the order was processed and shipped within 2-3 business days. I recieved my package within a week.

The motherboard I recieved from them however was defective. It had an on board video problem and would not display characters properly on any screen. This type of thing can happen some times, it didn't bother me. What did bother me was the return process.

I have now spent over 3 weeks since June 2nd attempting to resolve an RMA for the defective product. The first email I sent included ALL of the required information for an RMA, as outlined on their web site. I recieved no response. One week later I forwarded the same message back to them. Several days later I received a response telling me to fill out their RMA "form" on the following link: http://www.amamax.com/rmaform.html

As you can see this is not a form at all, it's simply something to cut and paste into an email. Again ALL of this information was included in my original email on June 2nd, the only difference is that it wasn't formatted exactly the way it is shown on this page.

I responded to that email by saying all of the included information is included, please move forward processing my request. They simply replied several days later with a carbon copy of their original request to fill out the online form. I considered taking my issue to the BBB at this point but simply copied and pasted from my original email into their required formatting. Several days after that I recieved an RMA number and another link to their guidelines to shipping returns.

I will update after I recieve my replacement motherboard. Though I am not sure how long that will take, considering it's been nearly a month in the process of just getting a return NUMBER.

p.s. Don't get me started on their telephone system. Don't ever expect to speak with a live human being at this company. They will either turn you away saying to call during normal business hours (which I WAS, repeatedly) or put you in an endless loop which will not take you to a valid extension.

**UPDATE**
Thursday, Aug. 7 2003.

Well in truth there is NOTHING to update. My irritation level with this company grows daily. I consider my investment in the motherboard I purchased and shipping fees a complete loss. After struggling through the initial process and recieving my RMA, I went to Staples to ship the board back by UPS the very next day. I even paid extra for second day shipping and recieved confirmation that the package was delivered (by signature). This was over a MONTH AGO. I have not recieved my replacement back, I have not recieved an email updating the status of the return, and best yet: They have ignored my email requesting a status on my return for over 2 days now.

I initially felt a "warm fuzzy" after recieving feedback on this site from the company, but kind words only carry so much weight. Actions speak louder than words.

I highly recommend everyone interested in any products Amamax has for sale to take their business elsewhere.

**Update 2, August 15**
They have systematically ignored my last 4 emails sent inquiring as to the status of my return. The BBB is soon to be involved. A company this poor doesn't deserve your business.

"Though I did not complete the order with Amamax due to them not having what I wanted, I thought I would like to comment on the experience.
First off, they are a pretty good company who tries to make their customers happy, provided one READS THEIR POLICIES. I specified no substitutions on my order, as by their policy.

Within 24 hours, I recieved a call from them explaining that they were out of the case I want, what they could substitute it with. The same with a fan I ordered. They also held my order while I took some time to think over the decision. In the end, I decided I would prefer the case that was out of stock, so I called and cancelled my order.

The person I talked to, Charles, promptly cancelled my order. He was polite and very patient during the phone calls.

People should take the time to read a company's policies before placing orders. They should also consider that there is a person on the other side of the phone before they start spouting off obscenities and other stuff. I don't blame Amamax for doing what they are doing. They are taking care of their customers, but not at the expense of their employees.

"Received case and power supply in 7 days. good service, but there is a 2 inch dent/divit in the top of the case back by the power supply. looks like the person who upgraded my power supply for this put the dent in it by droping something on it. But i dont think it will hurt the case or the poer supply at all. they need to be more careful in handling the equipment when upgrading stuff. over i will give these guys another shot. "

"I'm very dissatisfied with this company. I purchased a video card from them on June 3 and received a confirmation e-mail a few minutes later confirming that the order was placed. I thought everything was fine and continued to expect my order to ship within 1 - 5 business days as stated. On their tracking page, it states to contact them if within three days of receiving the confirmation e-mail you can't track your package on the page.

So, I sent them an e-mail to find out the status of my shipment (June 6). It wasn't until June 11 that I received a reply from them stating that they were shipping my package that afternoon (mind you that's 6 business days from order placement, 8 total days). Normally, the fact that they did not ship within their own prescribed time frame wouldn't have bothered me, but, it's the fact that they took five days to respond to my e-mail and then finding out that they charged my credit card on the 3rd, only to ship more then a week later without some explanation. That bothers me.

I cannot recommend anyone to purchase goods from this company over the internet. Hopefully their storefront business is much better then their online business.

If anything else happens, I'll be sure to update this. Right now, I'm waiting for the shippment still.

"I ordered a video card from them, and thought all was well, as I got the automatically generated "thank you for your order" confirmation. Anxious to get said video card, I payed close attention to my email, and checked their web page often. After the five buissness days passed, I wanted to see if something was up, so I checked my credit card history, and it showed that my credit card had been billed on June 3, 2003. I thought, Great, they shipped and didn't update my status. I sent an email on sunday, and waited the proscribed day for the reply, and got none. Feeling ignored, I decided to be more assertive with trying to get into contact with them. I called, and got through to their sales rep. I told him my name, and order number, and he said he would look into it, and asked me to hold on. After a minute or two, he asked me to keep holding on, which I did. After another minute or two, he repeated his request, and informed me that he was looking into it. About five minutes later, I was rudly surprised with the beep beep beep of the disconnected sound. Naturaly, I called back trying to get my question answered as to the status of my order. I ended up getting the "these are our hours" automated response. I was struck by the fact that the hours in the automated response didn't match the hours stated on the webpage (9AM - 6PM from the web, 9AM -5:30PM over the phone). Anyway, I have been calling back periodically throughout the day today and getting the automated message. Right now it is clearly inside the time window proscribed by both sets of hours. I don't know what is going on over on their end, but at the moment, I don't feel like I have gotten my money's worth, and don't know where I will be going from here.

"I purchased a Inno3D GeForce4 TI 4200 video card in June 2002 from Amamax. After a few months I noticed it was locking up in DirectX 8 games (earlier games worked fine) so I sent it back (it supposedly had a 1 year warranty). After a month I received my replacement card and it installed and worked fine for 1/2 hour and then the fan started making a horrible racket - the fan was malfunctioning. Now I was slightly annoyed because I'm working on my second video card. I emailed the company and the only thing I could do was send it back AGAIN. Here is were the stupidity really started. It took 3 MONTHS for them to send me back a 3rd replacement!!! And that was with me bugging them on a weekly basis. I'm pretty sure the 3rd replacement they shipped back to me is actually the 2nd bad card I shipped to them since the fan still does not work. And now they will not answer my email so I'm stuck with a defective video card (hopefully, a $10 fan replacement will cure my problem but that's after around $30 dollars in total shipping charges and a 1 year wait). Do NOT order from these people."
