"It's my birthday, My brother decided to buy me Win Xp. He gave me his Credit Card # and told me to order it through Amamax. He said they had a pretty good deal on Pricewatch. So I ordered it, because It was a different shipping address than billing address I had to call my bro and tell him to tell his bank to put my address as an alternate. At least that's what Amamax's website said. I did everything required and heard nothing. Four week days had passed and my order was still on hold. I called told them that I had done everything they asked of me and to get with it. They sent me to the verification department. They gave me an excuse that they needed to reinstall the OS on the computer then they would take care of it. Three more days passed and I called again, the order still on hold. I told them to cancel, they said I had to email them to cancel the order. So I canceled the order at 9:30 am I was sent a confirmation email that the order was cancelled at 10:30 by Karla. The next day Fed ex picked up the package at Amamax and was on my way to my house. I was Livid! I thought about refusing the order but I didn't what to cause a problem with my brother's credit card. Only after I had canceled my order they get decide to do the easy job of processing an order. I will never buy from Amamax again."

"Amamax.com is a fraudulent company who ignores their online policies and will substitute items of lesser value when items are out of stock. They have done this to me and many other people who have left comments on this and other rating services.

I ordered a graphics card and when it arrived it was a completely different card. The card was of lesser quality and I immediately called Amamax.com. They were nearly impossible to contact by phone and it took several calls and e-mails before I finally explained the problem.

They "offered" to credit $3 back to my account as a way to resolve this issue. The price differential was probably closer to $20 so I told them forget it.

The headache I received dealing with Amamax.com was probably the worst part of the entire experience. They didn't admit any wrong doing even saying the were allowed to substitute items at will if items were out of stock. I finally convinced them to refund my money (and hopefully they will) when I threatened to file a complaint with Visa.

Thank God for credit cards or I'm sure I would have been completely screwed!

"All in all, I am quite satisfied with Amamax. I tried applying a Pricewatch.com coupon code to my order, but it did not work, so I added in the comment field of my order for the sales representative to kindly apply the coupon code manually, which they did. The only small gripe was that I was not supplied with a FedEx tracking number, nor did I know when the product was actually shipped. However, upon Emailing customer service regarding this issue, they responded promptly with the FedEx tracking number. To my surprise, the package arrived the very next day! Based on the very responsive customer service alone, I would definitely do business with Amamax again."

"I noticed these guys had a good case advertised on pricewatch, NO mention of online order only... anyway I went to their store and their salespeople were very rude, and un-knowledgable.. refused to honor prices.. Management wasn't any better... Warning These guys aren't in it for anything but the money....Their customer service sucks and the Managers and owner aren't any better!!! Stay AWAY... spend your money with someone who cares enough to be nice to the customer.. AMAMAX is terrible!!!"

"I ordered their "dirt cheap" Amatek LT-SA Mini-Mid ATX computer case for.....get this....$22.25!! That's including shipping! I was friggin shocked. The case wasn't a Lian-Li aluminum super case or anything, but it was cheaper than anything I have seen anywhere! Also, it was advertised with a 300W PSU, but came with a 400W! I doubt the thing could sustain 400W, but it was a nice touch. And to make this even better, the order was processed, shipped and receieved in 4 days. I would wholeheartedly recomend purchasing from these guys."

"Ordered an old PCI video card. On the site it was advertised as having the SIS 6326 chipset. I received a completely different card, with the SIS 305 chipset. The card had basically the same features but they could have substituted anything. Received shipping notice and got the card on time. The driver disk was for something completely different and even if it was the correct disc it was badly scratched and unreadable."

"Well... I read the comments here about Amamax, and was a little worried,.. but they had a decent ATX Case at the lowest price I could find, and price was a serious issue, so I ordered from them anyway.

I have to say... this went as smoothly as any other transaction I've had online. (and I've had plenty) I ordered the product late Friday night. (so obviously it wouldn't be processed until monday) I immediately received a confirmation of my order. On Monday, I recieved an email saying my order had been shipped. On Thursday, the case arrived, and everything was fine and exactly as described. I don't reckon it could have been much easier or faster than that. (unless I had felt like paying for next-day shipping.)

"On Sept. 4th ordered an ATX case from them, got a very good price with a coupon found on pricewatch. It has got shipped the very next day (UPS Ground, shipping is expensive), but there was no shipping confirmation sent to me, it was only when I emailed them on Monday, Sept. 9th they sent the number to me. Got it yesterday. Overall - I guess it's ok for a single item order."

"Holy Freakin' HotShot Batman!

I ordered IBM345 Spkr/Sub set on 8/29/02 11:52Am. The receptionist said there was box at the front door for me at 10:52am the next Day!! Man, I haven't had overnight show up that fast, and they said this just standard ground. Smokin'

Sorry to see the other guys had problems. Maybe just stick to simple orders :)

"AVOID AMAMAX ULESS YOU WANT THEM TO STEAL YOUR MONEY. i ordered a hard drive and a few other things from them and they first did not ship it until a week later. they switched me from a western digital hard drive to an ibm without ever notifying me. the hard drive was defective so they gave me a bunch of crap about returning it. i spent over 30 min long distance on the phone with them trying to sort it out. they just play stupid and prentend they dont know what you are talking about. it is now august, i have called and emailed over 10 times and i have not gotten my money back. screw amamax."

"Ordered a copy of XP, a week later I check and my order is on hold, no other info than that. Emailed them several times and called several times over the course of 2 weeks with no answer. Their phone system just loops through the menu no matter what option you pick, even zero. So I emailed them again and cancelled my order, and called and left a message on more than one person's mailbox. over 8 weeks later I received the product, after I already bought another copy from newegg.com (great company). I tried to do RMA but they're instructions said to use the label that was sent with the product. My label was peeled off. I tried calling/emailing for another 2 or 3 weeks with no luck.
So I had to sell it on ebay, just to get some of my money back, I'm still out for all the inflated shipping I paid ($14 for a CD and a 4 page book!!!).
This has to be the worst run company ever. I called the BBB and they are not a member, of course.

Do yourself a favor and shop with newegg.com. you may pay a little more, but at least you'll get it on time, they have great customer service as well!

"This company has about the worst customer servis policies I've ever seen. I ordered and had to wait 3 weeks for my package to arrive. When I recieved it half of the order was missing. I called the comany and informed them of the mistake. They said they would send the missing part right out. Two weeks later I still hadn'trecieved any sort of information. I called back, and they has lost the order again. The wouldn't even be bothered to send it express shipping, and wanted me to pay extra to get it here late."

"AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COST!!!!! If you see all these bad ratings and arent sure let me tell you dont do it!!!! It is impossible to contact these people for any reason. I have emailed and called (at least 12 times) at my expense because of long distance. I have noticed mosst people have all the same problems. My order was on hold and it took me a week to contact them. The cust service rep was very rude and hung up on me. I would never condsider them for anything again. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. "Purchased video card online and receive confirmation that order was received. Four days later, no sign of item. I checked the website: "Order is on hold". What the heck does that mean? There was no notification. If I hadn't checked the website I would still be waiting. If the order is not shipped promptly, an e-mail notification/explanation is the proper way to do business. I am always leary of sites that accept an order they cannot fill, then let the customer wait-- without notification! This is not the worst that can happen, but I consider it a warning sign. There are better retailers out there that offer prompt service, reliable communication, honesty in advertising and a good price. Don't settle for less! Needless to say, I cancelled the order and went elsewhere."
