"I ordered the electric heater because they promised to deliver it in 5 business days. They did not send the item the next day, as promised. I contacted Customer Services. They refused to cancel the order, refused to tell when the item will be shipped and when it will be delivered. Now, two days later, I have new estimate: the item will be delivered not in 5 business days, as they promised, but in 10 business days. Needless to say, I would never pay to wait for the heater for 2 weeks. After they took the money, they do as they please. The company is dishonest, and proud of it. "

I have used Amazon for nearly five years now (on different accounts) and have purchased many items from them and/or their resellers, from books to video games to electronic devices.
On top of having some of the best prices and variety around--I love how their open review system keeps customers informed--their customer service is absolutely top-notch.
I have only needed to call twice, once to change my shipping address, the other to inquire about shipping speed. The first time I got an American woman, the second an Indian fellow; while the latter was a tad difficult to understand, both were equally helpful. In the latter case, an item that was supposed to arrive on Friday didn't arrive until Monday; my shipping fees were promptly refunded.
I have returned $20 items and $200 items without any problems using their automated process online. I didn't even have to speak to a customer rep.
Amazon has the best shipping prices and policies online, period. As a college student, I received a free Prime membership. Their free 2-day shipping--or their $4.99 overnight shipping--can't be beat. Their speed has saved me time and a dime for electronic catastrophes (failed laptop parts). I am equally amazed by their video game free release-date shipping. I don't have to bother to drive an hour to the nearest GameStop AND I still get the game THE DAY it comes out!

"One thing I love about Amazon is the amount of resources they make available to the consumer... from reviews... ratings... and so on so forth. Well there wasn't too many of those for the flashlight I purchased, but it was a neat, albeit an expensive gadget, but Amazon once again amazed me with their prompt shipping, and I was yet again another satisfied customer!"
"One of the original, and still the best e-tailers on the Web. Great website, usually competent customer service, excellent prices, free shipping for $25+ orders. Have used Amazon for years for everything, even food! Recently they offered me a free Amazon Prime membership due to my "student" status, and the free 2-day shipping (Amazon-fulfilled orders only) just makes the whole experience even sweeter.
One note of caution: many of the external sellers in the Amazon "Marketplace" are fine, some are not. Some charge exorbitant shipping rates, and their policies and customer service vary widely. They are not always well vetted by Amazon, so be careful who you order from in the Marketplace. That said, I have discovered some excellent stores doing business through Amazon, and had mostly positive experiences."

"Amazon is great. You can talk to customer service (1.***-***-****. They take back defective products and even make it easy to return things. They send you a replacement and a label to use to send the old product.
Their prices are excellently low but even if they weren’t, I would pay 2% more to avoid internet scams. I have gotten scammed by unknown companies and it is a horrible experience to fight with scam companies. I value peace of mind.
Companies that sell for Amazon are not controlled by Amazon but they are careful in being fair with consumers.
They are reliable. Shipping is fast!
They ask for feedback on every purchase and monitor their own good business practices. Before you buy something you can read reviews from consumers who bought the product. That is extremely helpful in avoiding bad products.

"I purchased a t-shirt that I thought looked awesome for the price paid. It was on sale so I decided to pull the trigger and decided to select 2 day shipping as well. Premium shipping never failed on me in the past so I was confident the trend will continue. I ordered the shirt on the 29th and it's already been 6 days. Considering that I chose premium 2 day shipping it should have already arrived days earlier. I won't be too hard on Amazon since this is the first time I had to deal with a situation like this. Hopefully they will keep their word and ship me my item the day of the estimated shipped date in future purchases.
If Amazon decides to blame USPS for my inconvenience then why did they decide to ship with USPS even though there are better options out there? Just a thought.
UPDATE: Amazon decided to change the order's status to "Customer refused delivery" without my acknowledgment. I was never sent the item and I never canceled the order as well. This is a total inconvenience. Never in my life has a company done this to me.
UPDATE2: I called Amazon customer service and they decided to send me a "replacement" some time next week. For an order that was shipped with priority shipping(estimated 2 day delivery), this is uncalled for."

"I have always been a big fan of Amazon.com and have held a Prime membership for a couple of years. This online merchant has been a lifesaver for me and I have little doubt I've saved hundreds of dollars shopping through them. The prime membership alone has saved me numerous shipping charges and more often than not Amazon has the best price available. I have recently begun buying my K-Cups for my Keurig coffee machine through Amazon's subscribe and save program saving me 15% off their already low prices. Love it.
