"For most of my Amazon orders, I have always been in the market for reference books for research. But I recently did a google search for a cologne which I haven't been able to find in local stores for years. Imagine my surprise when Amazon popped up as having Royal Copenhagen cologne and after shave.
I placed an order for both and was amazed at the speed that the package arrived. I thought that the prices were a little high until I checked the prices elsewhere and found that the prices at Amazon were the lowest.

I ordered one VN 6200 PC pocket digital recorder from amazon.com but received two. After a prolonged argument with its customer service department amazon.com still insisted that I made my mistake not theirs. My argument was that if I made the mistake, then why did I make the orders twice at the same time but from two different venders that were affiliated with amazon.com?
The argument last for a hour without any positive result. amazon.com even refused to help me to return one of the recorders back so my conclusion from this experience is that amazon.com never acknowledges mistake and refuses to provide help. When numerous online stores and physical stores are available today why do I go to amazon.com for shopping? It was because its reputation, right? But once you experienced the above, does this store still have any reputation left in your mind?????"

One of my purchases went wrong but was handled in a great manner.
But it seems they can regulate the own seller rating. I left a Seller feed back rating of 2 out of 5 for Buy.com and Amazon removed my rating.

"I have shopped at Amazon.com for many years and until recently had never had any problems with them whatsoever. Items were always low-priced, shipped very quickly, even with the free shipping.
Today, I had an experience with them that will most likely result in me never making a purchase with them again. I intended to sign up for an Amazon Store Card to take advantage of a 36 month no interest, no payments promotion for a Samsung LCD TV that I wanted to buy.
I applied for the card and was declined. I was shocked because I have extremely good credit. After numerous calls to Amazon.com store card and Amazon.com customer service, not only would they not tell me why my card was declined, they said I would have to wait 30 days to receive a written letter explaining why.
I thought, wow, maybe something is messed up with my credit. So, I decided to pull my credit report and fico score with Equifax. Sure enough, nothing was amiss. Everything current, high fico score. I can't imagine why I got declined other than an application processing error on their part.
I called customer service back, explained all of this to them. Offered to provide them any information they needed. They repeatedly said there is nothing they can do. Their call centers appear to be out-sourced with personnel that have limited training and are not equipped to deal with any sort of customer service issue outside of a simple scripted conversation.
Absolutely terrible. They just lost a $2000+ sale and they don't even care. Amazon.com is a fine place to shop as long as you never have to deal with their customer, which is absolutely HORRIBLE."

I placed the order and received an immediate confirmation and the shipping tracking number was sent later that day. My shipment arrived in great shape on the promised delivery date. What more can you ask for?
I am surprised about the problems some reviewers had with Amazon customer service. Last year I had to deal with Amazon customer service regarding a rebate. Their customer service folks took care of my issue in a courteous and professional manner. Two years ago I returned a book and again received no-hassle service from Amazon.

"I really enjoy shopping at Amazon , they can get anything you want. I often go to their site to compare prices and to read the reviews. I would also like to say thanks for their marketing - R&D departments , they really try to build your profile and offer you products they think you would enjoy (grin) and even though they haven't quite got it dialed in it at least shows they are trying. For that they get an extra point or two , I always feel safe doing business with them.

"I have used amazon.com for a number of years, and have had their prime membership for 3 or 4 years now. I have been happy with their service and prices. The prime mebership is a great deal if you buy a lot of things on line. I live out in the country a little, so most stores are 10-20 miles away. I find in much easier to order even little things on line (like batteries, pens, coffee) through amazon and get the free 2 day shipping with my prime membership. My wife and I have made probably 100-200 purchases through amazon and never had any problems. "
"Don't purchase anything if you think you may have to deal with customer service. I've truly been spoiled by newegg, because Amazon is horrendous. It takes alot of willpower to explain to the reps the way their coupons and promotional credit works, only for them to do nothing for you in the end. It's mind boggling.
I once sent an e-mail to them about honoring a manufacturer's coupon for a Disney blu-ray, and received a response that they do not accept food stamps. Thanks, India Customer Support."
"Amazon is my go-to spot for everything. I have their prime membership and it's worth every penny.
On this recent order, though, I got two boxes. One was my order and other belonged to someone else--it was their packing slip and merchandise with my name on the shipping label. I had customer service call me and they were befuddled, so I had to ship the merchandise back myself and call them back and have them refund me for the cost. It was very annoying but if that's the only real problem I have had in all of these years of buying from them, I'm still happy.
One downside is I don't often see Lightning Deals I like. I've only bought one all year."
