"Placed order on Black Friday like many others who shopped at Amazon. Confirmed e-mail on the purchase of two Logitech web cams. System showed ship date of 11-28. The ship date was later moved to 12-03. Received an e-mail on 12-01 indicating a pricing error. Amazon cancelled the order.
I went on FatWallet.com and discovered that many had the same problem. Only a few web cams were shipped at the advertised price. Apparently, there was no pricing error. I got burned again by this company.
My last three orders from Amazon over the previous two years were cancelled based on the same BS "pricing error" even though I received an e-mail confirmation.
I called the toll-free line asking for a supervisor. Was told there's one one supervisor on duty and he will call back. Right! The CSR would not provide me with her name or customer ID saying it's a company policy.
Burn three times. No more Amazon for me.
Just to show how bad Amazon is as a retailer, I saw an item at NewEgg for $60 with $50 rebate and free shipping. When added to the cart, item is listed at $80. One call to NewEggg and the CSR issued a credit of $20 to my CC. "
"They canceled one of my black Friday items because of "incorrect price." Not only did it take them a while to notify me, but the mail-in rebate has also expired, so even if I did want to buy it or if they did want to make things right and honer the price, it's too late.
I've been a long time Amazon customer and this is going to make me think twice since this is the second time I've had an experience similar to this."
"Ordered the Logitech MX Revolution mouse for the prices they advertised days before Black Friday. Ordered the products literally within minutes of the deal. Shipping estimate was on Nov. 28th. On Nov. 28th, recieved a delayed message until Dec. 3rd. Then, on Nov. 30th recieved an email saying the order was cancelled because of pricing errors. That is full of BS. THey advertise their prices, you order, they delay your order, then cancel your order. Don't buy at Amazon."
"Ordered an item off of Amazon on Black Friday and Amazon canceled it a week later saying that it was a "price error". Many people have received the item while others' were canceled. Amazon is such BS."
"Canceled several orders during last week. Not a trustable seller at all."
"I purchased a Logitech MX mouse and webcam on Black Friday which were canceled due to a "price mistake". However:
- I received a shipping delayed for the webcam on about 11/26 but then on 12/1 received an email that said that the items were canceled due to a price mistake. (if it really was a price mistake then why did it take 8 days to find this out and why did I receive a shipping delayed email?! [the email said it would be delayed for 3 days from the original shipping estimate]
- some other people who purchased the same items have received and are continuing to receive their orders. (why is Amazon selectively shipping out orders?!)
- the orders were made on Black Friday and there were other retailers who had the MX mouse on sale for a similar or reasonable price on that day or soon after. (by waiting so long, Amazon has robbed me of the opportunity to purchase those items elsewhere while they were still on sale)
- the purchase was made on Black Friday so the prices the items were selling for were not totally unreasonable.
- my theory is that they simply sold more of the items in question on Black Friday than they had anticipated and were looking for a way to get out of it.
* after emailing them with a very well thought out complaint I received a standard cut and paste response saying they could do nothing and acknowledging none of my questions!
* after calling them I received the same.
** In short, this experience with Amazon has left a bad taste in my mouth. I believe that Amazon has engaged in deceptive business practices and has responded unsatisfactorily to my customer service inquires.
Aside from clothes and groceries, I conduct almost all of my shopping online. Although it is hard to avoid Amazon since they are the largest online retailer, in the future I will take my business elsewhere when a choice in retailers exist, especially with my big ticket items and products I know will generate a high profit margin for Amazon. If Amazon wants to nickel-and-dime us, I say we make sure Amazon loses out on our sales for at least a year so that they don't come out ahead from these order cancellations.
Also, I believe that as consumers, we have a right and responsibility to reward retailers which deal fairly and honestly with their customers by patronizing them.
Accordingly, retailers who do not respect their customers should not be allowed to continue with "business as usual."

"Ordered Logitech MX Revolution Cordless Laser Mouse on November the 23rd in the early morning. I subsequently received 2 notices saying my order was "delayed" - no mention of there being any problems with the prices being "incorrect".
Then, after 8 days, they cancel my order because of the 'price mistake'. To add insult to injury, amazon did send this item to some customers... Really disappointed.
"
"First, orders got delayed.
Then, further email saying about delay.
Then, cancelled my orders.
It's not honest for Amazon to use price policy to fool customers about the Black Friday promotions. Also from some forum discussions I know that Amazon did fulfill part of similar orders but cancelled the rest.
Very disappointed.

update:
after several email exchanges with Amazon.com, they reinstalled my order with $80 gift certificate to compensate for the lost rebates. Good make-up!"
"I understand that Amazon is a very large company, and thus they cannot personally attend to every order to ensure its proper fulfillment, but what has just happened to me is quite ridiculous. I will quickly recap.
I placed an order on or around September 26, 2007 for twenty-nine children's books for my wife's kindergarten classroom for just $21. Amazon was running a 4-for-3 sale, and on top of that, many of the books were priced at a dollar or below. We were ecstatic, and even happier after we ordered enough to receive Free Super Saver Shipping.
Several days later, I received an email notifying me that Amazon would be unable to fulfill my order thanks to having been "unexpectedly out of stock in copies of one or more items that we can offer at the discounted price." Nineteen of the books on my order at this point were cancelled. To make matters much worse, a shipping charge of $12.90 had been added to the order since it no longer totalled enough money (a matter of Amazon's own mistake, not mine), bringing the grand total for TEN books to $24, three dollars more expensive than I was previously slated to receive TWENTY-NINE books for. I was offered a $10 credit toward a future purchase, which helps to some extent, but considering that the actual adjusted price of the books is around $3-$4 apiece, that's only good for around three of the nineteen books I had lost.
I was able to call and eventually have the shipping charge dropped, and so I signaled my contentedness and went on with things. Then, later, I logged on to find that further changes had been made to my order. Now, only TWO BOOKS were left on the order, and the total, including a shipping charge ONCE AGAIN, came to $8.
So in summation, I went from a fantastic 29 children's books for my wife's classroom for just $21 to TWO books for $8, minus a $10 credit.
Am I supposed to be content with this? At the very least I would think Amazon could seek to honor the original price quoted on just TEN of the books...
I truly cannot believe Amazon changed my order once again even after the first issue we had worked out! This is ridiculous, quite frankly, and I am not the type of person who typically complains. What a joke.
Amazon, I can understand that you might have made a pricing error here, and I honored your initial correction of the matter, but this is simply unnecessary. There has got to be a better way to deal with this than once again trying to charge me shipping. Now, rather than receive
29 children's books for my wife's classroom for each less than a dollar, I am set to receive TWO books for roughly four dollars apiece.
No thank you, I think I will simply take my business elsewhere--and YOU SHOULD TOO!
This is not the first time this has happened to me or a friend/family member. Amazon readily cancels orders thanks to their policy on pricing errors and other mishaps without even so much as a compensation of some sort--regardless of how insignificant the error might have been. If you order from them, expect their system to screw you over in some fashion if there ever is a problem with your order. In my example, they tried to charge me $13 in shipping that was originally supposed to be waived, and that was AFTER they cancelled about half of the items in my order. They can and will do the same thing to you--it happens literally all the time. DO NOT order from Amazon without watching your order like a hawk, and be prepared to do your shopping all over again somewhere else if by some chance something goes wrong (which happens more than you might think)."
"Amazon cancelled my order stating a pricing error. They seem to do this quite frequesntly lately"
"I ordered Logitech MX mouse at 3:00 AM EST on black friday 11/23. After pushing the shipment dates for 10 days Amazon finally cancelled the order saying that it was a price mistake. Because I had placed the order with amazon , I didn't place order for Logitech VX on cyber monday from tigerdirect (Free after mail in rebate) and amazon ($7 after mail in rebate). I wanted to have nice mouse on black friday and due to stupid amazon, I don't have any, though other websites did offer very good deals on these. I would never do any business with Amazon and would recommend everyone NOT TO DO ANY BUSSINESS WITH AMAZON.
"
"Amazon is a perfect example of screwing customers during holiday shopping. 1) they advertise good deals on the website and lure you into it. 2) they sent an email a few days later claiming it is delayed but kept you hope open. 3) they finally sent you an email and said order cancelled due to price error. Come on, even it is just an error, it is just about $10 or so. What is the big deal for Amazon to make customers happy instead of screwing them like this? I could have bought it at other places if there is not that deceptive delay notice but now all the deals are gone and I got nothing.
Please remember, if you want to buy something as a gift, never buy it from amazon.com. It won't deliver and you will feel being tricked by their "smart", or should I say "mean", customer service.
actually I won't even buy anything from them. Frys.com, newegg.com, buy.com all do better than Amazon and typically offers better deals."
"Just like most people out there, I ordered the Logitech MX Revolution Cordless Laser Mouse and the Logitech QuickCam Communicate Deluxe on Black Friday, but after waiting a week they delayed my orders and then canceled both of them due on a lame reason "Price Mistake"?!? What kind of that excuse is? Just because they didn't expect so many orders, and couldn't make money out of that, and canceled everyone orders by a lame excuse?!
PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM AMAZON, ESPECIALLY ON BLACK FRIDAY!!!"
" I ordered Logitech MX Revolution Cordless Laser Mouse and Logitech QuickCam Communicate Deluxe on black friday. They sent an email after a week that there is a delay in delivery. Then after 2 days my order was cancelled by amazon saying it was a price mistake on black friday Ad.
Never buy anything from Amazon.com. They advertise products for cheaper price just to get the server hit and cancel the order later."
"I ordered the Logitech MX Revolution Cordless Laser Mouse and the Logitech QuickCam Communicate Deluxe on Black Friday, but after waiting a week they canceled my orders due on a ridiculous reason "price mistake", yeah price mistake on Black Friday, what a great coincidence.
REMEMBER NEVER ORDER ANYTHING AT amazon ON BLACK FRIDAY, BECAUSE THEY WILL CANCEL YOUR ORDER ANYWAY, DON'T WASTE YOUR TIMES, GO TO OTHER REPUTABLE STORES, YOU WILL FIND BETTER DEALS THERE!!!
edit: After I filed a complain at BBB, and email them several times, they honored the price and offered $80 gc for the rebates, I will shop at Amazon again in the future. Amazon really screwed up this BF, but they know how to make thing right at least for me. I feel sorry for anyone who's in similar situation but could not get their items. "
