"Never really had a problem with Amazon.com - good shipping options, prices decent, good customer service. One order I had was opened when I received it (it arrived while I was at work, so I had no control of receiving it at my condo); I called Amazon.com (or rather they called me) when I wanted to inquire on this, and they sent me the missing DVD-R spindle via 2-day express, and will take care of investigating this with UPS. I got what I wanted and am happy on this workaround. Also, the free shipping is nice, but it takes too long!!!

"I was one of the few people who order from Amazon during the Black Friday event and had initial issues of order cancellations on two advertised items. After speaking to customer service and a few emails Amazon.com has more than compensated for the pricing error. They both honered the rebates that were no longer able to be used and exceeded my expectation of reducing the prices of these items even lower than the pricing error. I am thoroughly happy with the service I recieved as a first time buyer through them and would continue purchasing from them for my business as needed. I feel a positive feedback should be provided simply because they finally did honor the prices and went some distance to communicated well about it both politely and professionally. Any company willing to do so deserves mention of such actions despite a mistake being initially made."
"ordered serveral items from amazon marketplace, these items get cancelled with no explanation, called to inquire, customer service suggested to reorder..now price gone up--sometimes doubled. amazon plays these very deceptive marketing schemes.
be careful when ordering big ticket items like tv's--these are shipped from 3rd party companies like Beach Audio not from amazon. if there is a problem with the order once it arrives, you will have to deal directly with that store--most times they have no refund polices and restocking fees."
"I have made several purchases from Amazon.com and I have always had superb service. My most recent purchase was for a Panasonic DMC FZ50 Digital camera. They had the best price that I could find online and with the free shipping, the deal was even better. The free S&H took a few days longer, but I still received it in a week. I would highly recommend them as I find them to be one of the more reputable online merchants around."
"I have used Amazon extensively for several years and consistently have fast delivery and, on the few times it was needed, no issues with returns.
"
"Great price, fast shipping even though it was free. No issues."
"Watch out for Amazon's partner merchants! I've had pretty good results when I ordered from Amazon itself (books, movies, etc) but I've had all kinds of problems with order fullfillment from merchants who use Amazon's portal.
For this year's disaster: on December 13 I ordered a gift pack from Fireworks Popcorn through Amazon. Delivery was promised between December 19 and 24. I received an automated e-mail message from Amazon on Dec 25, stating that my order hadn't been shipped and I wouldn't be billed. I sent a reply back, asking for some information on my order and that apparently went to a human being. The next day I got a reply from customer service at Fireworks Popcorn, stating that they got buried in orders from Amazon and just couldn't deliver in time for Christmas. They "promised" to get my order out on Dec 26. On Friday December 28 I got an e-mail from Amazon telling me that my order finally went to UPS late that day and I do have a UPS number for the shipment. With the New Years holiday, and the fact that the package is going to the DelMarVa peninsula (which seems to add an extra day or two to delivery), delivery is promised for January 4. So my Christmas present won't even make it in time for New Years Day.
The comments I read on Amazon's merchant feedback leave me with the impression that Fireworks Popcorn is a small specialty company that decided to go national by listing with Amazon. They don't have any idea how to fill large numbers of holiday gift orders in a timely manner. Hiring some extra help might be a good start for next year.
I can't speak to the product itself, but if delivery for a holiday is a concern to you, you might want to look at another vendor who understands how to do e-commerce.
1/3/08 - I checked Amazon this AM and it looks like Amazon has stopped selling Fireworks Popcorn procucts (everything is listed as "currently unavailable") Good job by Amazon in pulling the plug on those folks. "
"Amazon usually has great prices and always has fast shipping. I have used them many times with no problems."
"Amazon refunded me for the shipping cost on this item since "Free Saver" shipping wasn't available due to an error. Amazon is awesome."
"All it takes is one screw-up to ruin my trust, and this one was BEYOND UNACCEPTABLE.
I ordered a DVD to be shipped to a friend for Christmas, and the shipping option I chose explicitly told me, "This item WILL arrive at the location on or before December 24th." It was a guarantee that they made sure to slam on anything and everything around Christmas, to give a false sense of security that they would come through.
They lied.
The item shipped on December 18th, and on that day my expected delivery date changed from December 23rd to December 26th. This deceptive advertisement, posting a big cheery notice that "the item WILL be delivered" before Christmas was absolutely unforgivable.
To make matters worse, according to my Amazon tracking, the item was delivered on December 27th, and it was signed for by a person named Mattis. I guess it would be fine that it was late, but today my friend told me HE NEVER GOT THE DVD. My friend has no one living there with a name that even comes CLOSE to "Mattis". He confirmed that I had entered his address correctly.
Amazon, you had millions of items to ship out during Christmas, but this is just BS. You made deliberate false promises, presumably shipped it to the WRONG address, and now you have my money.
I had more than 30 orders with you before, but trust me, I'm only using you as a LAST RESORT from now on. ALL future DVD purchases are coming from the online stores DVD Pacific or RightStuf. They are trustworthy and reliable. YOU ARE NOT.
*update*
I noticed that someone is voting down people that leave negative reviews for Amazon. This person should be banned from the site immediately.
*2nd update*
My girlfriend had to buy a birthday present for someone. It needed to be there in four days, so we opted for two day shipping. Even though the item was in stock and Amazon told us it would get there the day before the birthday party, Amazon notified us on the would-be arrival date that the shipping date had been delayed a FULL WEEK.
I still don't appreciate an Amazon fanboy voting us down for daring to call Amazon out on its poor management. I've placed many orders with Amazon over the past 10 years, and to be treated like garbage after all this time in consecutive orders is just MADDENING. My DVD purchases are now from DVDPacific.com. My game purchases are from independent sellers. Amazon has lost my business forever."
"Amazon WAS my favorite place for electronics and books. My recent 3 purchases of books had changed this. My problem was with the packaging. Most books in last three shipment arrived damaged, some pretty badly. No shrink wrap was used anymore. Virtually no padding.
I am looking somewhere else for books."
"Overall, I have had great experiences with Amazon.com and do not hesitate to make purchases there. In more distant history, I always knew that I would end up waiting a week or two (occasionally 3) for anything ordered, but the time frame was always in line with the estimate they provided and I just made sure to place my order in plenty of time for when I needed the item. I have placed four purchases with them just this December alone and all were shipped the next day and arrived only 2-3 days later (with their free shipping). It seems they have been doing all they can to honor the ship-in-time-for-Christmas dates they have set forth. I have no major complaints with this retailer and recently their service has been better than ever. As an added bonus, they almost always have more reviews posted for various products than anyone else. Even when I plan to buy from somewhere else, I know I can always swing by amazon.com and probably get quite a few reviews to help me make my decisions."
"Amazon rules. I've been ordering all sorts of stuff from them for ten years. If they make a mistake, which is seldom, they make things right. "
"Amazon sent me a confirmation email that my order went through.
Three days later they sent me an email titled " Your Amazon.com order (#xxx-yyy-xxx): your approval required" in which they were asking if a later shipping date was OK.
I confirmed.
Three Days later yet another email stating that they have to push the date back even further. Still OK with me.
THEN however, right after I confirmed, they cancel the order stating "..displayed at an incorrect price".
So WHY oh WHY do they make me go through the HASSLE to read and CONFIRM SEVERAL TIMES a later delivery date, if it was a typical amazon-error to begin with??
Their "service" is a joke.
Amazon was good at some point, but is declining rapidly.
Time to get rid of the stocks."
"I have had nothing but great experiences with Amazon.com. They ship fast and the merchants that sell through Amazon also ship fast. Both Amazon and their partners have been reliable and trustworthy. Everything I have ordered has been in excellent condition and as advertised."
