"I have been using Amazon on a regular basis for a very long time now. They have amazingly low prices and as a Prime member the free shipping on many products is out of this world. Life Saver is all I can say around the holidays and not having to go into B&M stores since I know my items arrive NEXT DAY sometimes is great! I love Amazon and always tell everyone to shop there if they can.
I have also returned and exchanged many times always hassle free. 100% great experiences."
"I ordered an SD card from DigitalEtc at Amazon and everything went smoothly. There was no problem in the transaction and i received the package in excellent condition and within the time given to me.
I would definitely shop at amazon again."
"Amazon was so far my favorite online store until this last purchase - it was totally a scam!
They advertised this Logitech Z-5300e THX-certified 280-Watt 5.1 Surrond Sound PC and Gaming Speaker System to have a $40 rebate, plus any order above $25 can have a Free super saver option.
I placed the order on 8/12/2007, and was told my order is an "extra heavy item" and thus needed to pay $20 for shipping, which is false as of today, 8/17/2007 which they now offer FREE shipping!
OK that's my fault of ordering it too early! But when I try to claim my rebate, they simply have no such option for the item I've ordered and provide nothing at all!? Am I dreaming at the time I placed the order? But they still said on their site there IS a $40 REBATE!? What a false statement!!
I just tried to contact Amazon to figure out what's going on, but still feel unfair to be treated this way. I'll update my status to see if they'd change the way of doing business.
Just found out Logitech did really offer a $40 rebate but have to purchase thru CLT/Mwave. They just request a $18.85 shipping charge, plus CA tax which is still cheaper than Amazon, let alone the extra $40 from Logitech.
Seems like Amazon exploited my 8 years faith with them...stupid me...rest of shoppers just be alert!! "
"Slow delivery speed. Poor customer service.
I have made multiple purchases from amazon.com over the past few years mostly due to the price as compared to other online sellers.
The problem with Amazon is the shipping times. I have tried standard and the free super saving shipping and both take over a week from time of purchase to receipt in mail.
Currently, I purchased software using the super saver shipping, and it has been 5 days since the date of purchased and it is still listed as "not mailed yet." The to be shipped date estimate is 6 days after the purchase date and the delivery estimate is at 7 to 13 days beyond the shipping date (7-13 days in the hands of the shipping service provider). So expect to receive your package 13-19 days after you purchased your order.
The standard shipping appears also to take about 5 days before the product is actually even shipped.
I find this ridiculous because other online stores usually ship that day or the next, then it is up to the shipping service provider. I have not tried their 1day or 2day shipping options because the added price makes the order no longer worth it, since the it would be cheaper and quicker to purchase the product from the store.
Also the last purchase was received poorly packaged without proper filling so the DVD box set was crushed. "
"Amazon was my favorite online store until this last order. I Ordered a collectable toy from Amazon. The box of my order was damaged(bottom is bent in on both sides and clear plastic has crease marks) because my order wasn't packed good. There was one air bag in the box and about 6 inches of empty space. That sucks because all the boxes of the toys I own are in excellent condition. Amazon, what's up with that? ... sonnn??? "
"I am buying from one state where I have a 2nd home while my billing address is another state. In ordering from Amazon.com I expected the screen would show the address I wanted the item shipped to. Did not happen. "Thank you for your order" came the message. There is a button that says "Edit order" so I clicked. A notice came up saying that it was too late to edit. So, I have an order being shipped to my main residence where there is no one to accept it. Funny, Amazon can track ever purchase I ever made and send me notices about things I might be interested in but they can not allow me to put in the correct address 15 seconds later. It is so typical of their disregard for their customers. No wonder they have such a low rating here and at other sites. People are giving up on Amazon. I certainly have. Today's order was my last."
"I have used Amazon a lot, Especially in the past year. I also am surprised at their low rating. I order from a lot of online sites and some top names for me don't compare to amazon. For me they are surely in the top 5% out of all the websites I have ordered from."
"Amazon has really opened up a lot of oppurtunities for small businesses and they also help businesses like my own www.SuperHighwayDesigns.com be able to buy a lot of different items at great prices. My favorite thing to buy from them is books, as it seems they always have what you need and it is always prices pretty well. I would rate them 10 out of 10."
"I'm a little amazed at how low Amazon's score is. I order from them frequently and always have been pleased. On the order above, a rebate came available after I ordered. Amazon honored it and gave me credit. In the past they have refunded money for products that broke without even asking for return. I highly recommend them."
"Ordered a digital camera on July 12th, standard shipping (3 to 5 days). The camera was shipped on the 12th, it arrived on July 23rd. I paid $6.76 for 11 day shipping. The package was shipped USPS parcel post. Parcel post is the slowest way to ship anything in the US.
Packaging was a joke. There was one small air bag to cushion the camera box as it tumbled in the shipping container for 11 days. This is, by far, the worst experience I've had with an internet purchase.
I now understand why Amazon's rating on this site is below average.
AMAZON has become a 2ND RATE company. Never again. "
"I have been an Amazon.com customer for several years because they always shipped fast and prices were reasonable. I am sorry to say that my opinion of them has changed drastically. Several times I've ordered from them expecting for my stuff to come in in less than a week as I was always accustomed to regardless of shipping category (i.e. regular, super saver, etc). But orders that I have placed in the last 6 - 8 months have taken forever to arrive. I've actually canceled and item because it didn't arrive in time. I admit, I like to save money and if offered will choose the free super saver on shipping, but the item used to always come in under a weeks time, this time I had to wait over a month for it to arrive. I'm sad to say that Amazon.com has lost a loyal customer because of this. I guess Barnes and Noble or some other store that sells on-line will get a new customer."
"I always ordered various things through the Amazon store, not only from them ("Amazon, LLC"), but also from other sellers, on the Amazon "marketplace".
I never had any problems, and always ordered from them even when there were better stores carrying the items (Newegg, for example), probably because it was easier to order everything from one place. No worries, no promiscuous credit card number...
However, since I started shipping to one address, and this happened this year (2007), I needed to change my review. I discovered that USPS can't deliver to that address, and this year only (twice), I had 4 orders undelivered, out of 4!! Something like $150 of goods.
I had that problem with other stores, too. I shouldn't blame Amazon for that, of course, since they always refunded me even before USPS return the items to them, but the bottomline is: if they don't allow me to choose the shipping company, I won't order anything from them anymore.
When I called their customer service countless times, they say they can't assure me that this or that carrier will be used, even when I tell I want to order from them because they are safe and because I don't mind paying more for better carrier plans (FedEx 2Day etc.). Even so, they can't "customize" their service a bit to please a customer that ordered from them so many times (in 3 years, I guess something like, at least, $2000).
I'm actually ordering from the stores on their marketplace, but directly from their sites, because most of them allow you to select what company to use to ship your items.
Discussions about what shipping company is better is a nonsense, in my opinion. Just stick to the one that don't fail on you. But when a company is so secure of itself that they don't customize the service a bit for the customer, then it will probably face clouded times ahead."
"Purchased a series of books from amazon; the prices of the books were not the lowest on the web (overstock was even cheaper), but after shipping cost, they were the best price.
The books came very well packaged and fast (2 business days after I had ordered it). They may not ship the fastest in the world unless you upgrade from the free shipping. I've shopped with them since '99 and I have never had any problems with them."
"AMAZON.COM SUCKS! I tried to place an order and use a Bank debit card and a regular credit card. They only accept one at time of purchase. The customer service rep (locaed in ASIA) suggested I purchase a gift certificate with one card and then apply that towards my purchase instead. Well I followed their instructions and bought a gift certificate with the bank debit card only to ahve it declined for insufficient funds (they charged me a extra dollar so I didn't have enough money on the card). They then tell me that it is fixed and give a $10 purchase credit that the rep. said I could use for a gift certificate. Guess what, you can't. Now I am out $2.00 and still no f***ing gift certifiacte. I have been in contact with them a total of 6 times on the phone (total of 5 hours), multiple e-mails, and do you know what I got--u-gots, nothing, nada, zip, zilch. Not even my refund of $2.00. F*** AMAZON.COM! P.S. it took them over two weeks to issue the refund and then had the audacity to tell me they never charged me in the first place. DO NOT BUY FROM THEM!!!!!!!"
"Garmin nuvi360 ordered 7/1 arrived noon 7/3 as promised. Price was within $10 of lowest price on the Web. Packaging was POOR: Product carton was jamed into the corner of the shipping box with air bags on only the two exposed sides. The box was large enough to have the product centered with air bage on all four sides. The uneven weight of the box had caused the end/corner to get crushed on that heavy side. Only luck kept the product from being damaged. This item was shipped from the Amazon LLC, Fernley, NV and some QA work and training is needed in the packaging department."
