When merchandise was dissapointing they compensated for the inconvenience of having to take the furniture piece apart by a gift card. Customer service was mostly good exept for their recent rebate fiasko - they offered several separate rebates with different offer numbers and a lot of people ordered items only to find out later that the rebates have been switched for one with a single promotion numbers for all items and a limit of one per household. This one took several phone calls and a long time spent over the phone, but the matter was resolved to my satisfaction. "Ordered several items last week with order split into two shipments by Amazon. After several days I received e-mails that my credit card could not be processed. I refreshed the order payment and half the order was accepted but still card problems on the rest. So I tried to find out how to contact customer service to find out why the problems. This is my biggest issue. While they state on their help page that contacting customer service is easy it is NOT so. They keep the contact info well hidden. When I finally did get through I received a reply that everything had been fixed. Right. I then received additional e-mail that the card was still a problem and that the order was going to be canceled (I've been using the card elsewhere though without issues). This is for the birds. So I canceled the rest of the order. Another issue with customer service is that you cannot reply to their e-mail so there can be no back-and-forth to solve a problem. I will have to think twice before ordering through them again due to the poor customer service."
"I ordered books on December 6 to be shipped overseas. Amazon delayed the order twice and had me confirm twice that the delay was OK. December 12 they send me a notice saying they cannot ship the books and they apologize then note that their system malfunctioned and allowed me to order items for overseas shipment when I shouldn't have been able to. Well that's just great! The books were Christmas presents. I went to barnesandnoble.com instead. Ordering there was quick and easy and the books are on their way. I just wish Amazon would have told me sooner, now the books won't make it in time for Christmas. Grrr...."

"Ordered a Canon multifunction monochrome laser printer for my sister as a Christmas gift. Amazon had the item in stock with the lowest cost. The shipping was free with the super saver option.
The printer arrives in three days after I made the internet order. After my sister openedthe box, she realizes that the box had been previously opened. The users manual and power cord were bent and untied, respectively. The wrapping around the laser printer was untaped.
Amazon did not specify the item is "refurbished" or "open-box." I do not have a problem with purchasing refurbished or previously opened item, but I do not want to pay the full cost. I have requested a return of credit. Hopefully, they will fullfill their agreement in returning the credit in "7 to 14 days."
I have ordered numerous items from Amazon and this is the first time they have dishonestly shipped an item.
Update:
Amazon contacted my sister via email and asked her if she would like a gift certificate in the amount of the printer. Instead, my sister asked that my credit card receive full credit. Amazon fullfilled her request in less than a week."
"If you have concerns about bait and switch from online stores such as Wisetronics, etc., then buy from amazon.com. It's been a pleasant experience for me. The price was very competitive and deliveries were on time as promised.
Few weeks ago, I ordered a Cannon scanner and within few 5 days, it was delivered. Then on Dec. 5th, I ordered a Panasonic camera FZ50, I received a confirmation email the next day with UPS tracking number. On the 11th, I received a brand new camera. All two items, the shipping is free of charge.
If you don't want to have headaches during the holidays dealing with other online companies regarding bait and switch, then buy it from amazon.com. I learned my lesson by ordering the camera from Wisetronics. The experience was horrible.

I was angry to say the least. Luckily I checked with amazon.com and they had them in stock for the same price.
