"I have bought many items from Amazon, and I never had any problems. They were all in great condition and well-packaged. I highly recommend this excellent merchant. "
"Ordered a lens hood for my Canon EF 50mm lens. Chose the standard delivery hoping it would arrive in 7 to 9 days. A confimation e-mail came stating it probably wouldn't arrive till January 3rd - January 18. The items probably on back order but amazon.com said it was in stock. I'm cancelling my order and buying from somewhere else, I really can't wait that long...."
"Amazon really has got brass ones folks.
Ordered 5 items on a single order and received 3. When I checked the website for the status of the other 2 items I found that Amazon had deleted them from my order without notifying me that they were doing so. Now the mad scramble begins to replace the 2 items that were meant as part of a gift for my son and nephew.
Delete items without notifying the customer? SHAME ON YOU Amazon! But not shame on me. Once the last of my 2-day shipping items (already 2 WEEKS late) arrive and I get the credit back on those crappy flannel sheet sets I am having my account deleted from their server.
More and more stores are now offering free shipping and discount codes so you are not the only game in town."
"I am new to buying online and I don't trust anyone, so It took me along time to find someone I can trust. I got some other things from other web sites because of price and Rep. This tamrac backpack was by far the best buy on Amazon. They been around for a while, so I went with my gut on this purchase; despite the negative responses. I am happy with my backpack and it arrived aolt faster than expected. Just a word to the wise; You cannot please everyone, it does not matter if their rating is a 10 or a 1. Look at the Consistency of the complaints. If they are wide spread then go with your gut, if it is the same complaint by several different people then watch out! Hope this helps. I posted this because lets face it now days it is alot cheaper to buy online.
Would I buy from Amazon in the future? Yes!"
"I placed an order with Amazon on Nov 17 2006. A couple days later, I was notified that the item was about to ship, and was given a delivery timeframe. The order was unable to be cancelled at that time, since it was being "prepared for shipment". Within the next couple days, Amazon told me the order was being delayed, and would ship out sometime in the future. I was given no opportunity to cancel the order, and now several days after notification of the delay, the order still has not shipped. Also, and quite interestingly, the current delivery timeframe I get on the Amazon website begins yesterday and continues for 4 days (but only 3 shipping days from today). That's right; Amazon might deliver my order anytime from yesterday until 3 shipping days from now. An order that hasn't even shipped yet. An order placed with regula shipping options, which Amazon usually has delivered to you in about 9-12 days from the date it is shipped out. But hey, you never know, maybe my order will get here yesterday.
When Amazon delayed my shipment, I should have been afforded the ability to cancel the order. The occasion for which I ordered this item has now passed. Now I will have to return the item, and I will be out the shipping costs. And Amazon wil slip further down my list of internet retailers from which to purchase in the future. Nice work, Amazon."
"I ordered a sirius car kit for 79.99 well in advance for the christmas rush as a gift for my wife. I even was suckered into signing up for Amazon prime to get upgrades to 2 day free shipping! So I ordered and then I get an email stating that they the estimated shipping date is 11/27-11/28 with a delivery date of 11/29-11/30! WTF? What does 2 day shipping mean any more? So I deal with that since I do not need it until christmas anyway and I wait. Today 11/29 I get an email from amazon stating the item is not avaliable and will be shipped by 1/29/2007!! I quickly cancelled the order and ordered the item from sirius.com directly for cheaper! Amazon can be really shady sometimes!"
"I wanted the hard-to-find DVD "Santa Claus" (cult classic from Mexico ca 1958) on 28 October 2006. I followed Amazon's recommendation and added other items to my cart so that I could get free shipping. The estimated shipping on the Santa Claus DVD was 2 to 4 weeks, and I didn't have a problem with that. It's probably not a very popular item.
A month went by and I noticed on 27 November they had broken the order into 2 shipments. Both shipments were in the "ship soon" status. I didn't like this development so I sent them an email that said, in effect, "ship it all at once or don't ship any of it." 12 hours later the 3 non-Santa items had started "the shipping process" and the Santa DVD was now scheduled to arrive "after December 22nd".
On the morning of November 28 I had a resopnse to my email that did not address my specific concern. I went to the page where you can request a "Call Me" phone call from Amazon's Customer Support. Before clicking on it I went to my orders page and saw that the 3 non-Santa items were still "shipping soon" but the Santa DVD was not scheduled for delivery until AFTER 25 DECEMBER.
This was unacceptable to me and needless to say I was upset so I went ahead and had someone from Amazon call me. I spoke with John who was nice enough, even though I feel he lied to me. He said he had a 90% success rate in getting items that had not actually been shipped yet stopped before they went on the truck.
So today I have a tracking number and it is up to me now to make sure somebody is home to refuse delivery from USPS and then wait for Amazon to credit my card with a refund. I think Amazon engages in deceptive business practices and fraud. I relied on their statement that the items would ship in 2-4 weeks. I relied on their recommendation to order extra things to get free shipping. I relied on their email feedback system to head off a potential problem with the order.
I have filed a complaint with both my state's department of consumer protection and the Federal Trade Commission. I advise anyone thinking about ordering from them to be very careful when looking at Amazon's shipping and delivery estimates. It's a proven fact that they lie about these dates."
"Amazon.Com once known as a pioneer in web commerce has fallen to a point of ridicule. By out-sourcing their so-called "customer service" they have effectively buried any notion of fair business practice. Their method is one off systematic excuse-making, false hope, and unfulfilled online promises.
Amazon's guaranteeed delivery service is simply fraudulent. They will lie to you on the telephone in this aspect just to keep the customer service ratings high for their overseas call centers. Like Dell computer, this company will quickly learn the hard lesson of outsourcing customer service.
I ordered a Canon G7 camera on November 22 and was offered 2-day GUARANTEED delivery (for recipet on Monday, Nov 27th). It is now Saturday, November 25th and the package is sill sitting idle at Amazon.Com. In the UPS system my package is specified as a GROUND delivery. A delivery which will not move over the long holiday weekend.
Amazon.Com will tell you the package is in transit when it is not. In transit only means the company has transmitted the tracking number to UPS. It does not mean the package has beeen picked up, or is on the way. Large companies transmit the #'s in bulk, but the package can sit waiting at the origin for days until it is actually picked up.
Amazon.Com had 3 days to resolve this issue and get the package to me. I called them each day to assess the situation. Each day they guaranteed the delivery, and each day they lied until finally I spoke to an honest customer service agent in the US who understood the issue and realized the error... 3 days too late. He said ther was nothing that could be done to resolve this issue other than a refund of my shipping fees.
Ironically, I ordered another package on the same day as the above package, and that order is on time. Here the system does not discriminate, it screws you randomly which is the most troubling aspect of the grand scheme know as Amazon.Com
WARNING: Do not buy anything from Amazon.com that is time critical. They will not honor their delivery guarantees!"
"ordered a cpu heatsink on 19th
got an e-mail that they shipped the item on 20th, i have chosed two day shipping method.
today is 24th, and i still haven't recieved it, tracking says it had arrived to NY ,it was delivered on 26th , but it's a 4 days late
However, the other 5-6 times that I ordered from Amazon went smooth"
"Amazon ran one of the greatest shenanigan on the internet this Thursday November 23, 2006.
The so called "Amazon Customers Vote Homepage: Deals, are pure SCAM"
"Xbox for $100 B-U-L-L-S-H-I-T
In the check out it was FULL PRICE
"
"This is not a story of my last order with Amazon, ok well in a way it is.
Why you ask?
Simple. I now refuse to deal with Amazon.com because of a little fraud filled fiasco from earlier this morning.
Everyone knows of the XBox360 for $100 deal I'm sure.
Well today I was on their site just waiting to see if I was going to be one of the lucky 1000 people to get the system. So I sat patiently refreshing every couple minutes just in case the deal went live early. Well I noticed something odd as of 10:58am. The page now showed next weeks deals with no mention of the Xbox or any other prizes.
Hmm, what's going on here, right?
Well so I keep F5ing it now every 15 or so seconds and as of 11:01am it's STILL showing me next weeks items with no mention of this weeks.
Now I know I'm being picky here, but last night I made sure that I synced up my clock to the server on amazon so that my time would be exact. So at fully 1 minute past their posting time it's still not showing the deals.
11:02am the whole site goes down for me and friends of mine who are wanting that sale too. The site goes down so hard that you cant even navigate or ping via a cmd window to amazon.
I contact amazon via phone and they tell me that their web guys did accidentally publish the site 2 minutes late and that at the same time their seattle linkage went down which means western washington customers could not navigate to the site properly.
So I tell them promptly that I want that deal then since it was a fault on their site that caused me not to be able to order it. She admitted that it was their fault but that they no longer have any units in stock. So I tell her that they have plenty in stock for $299 on the site and I'm requesting a discount. She said that these were "special" XBoxes. I told her bullcrap according to the site that they were the same XBoxes. She then tells me that I am wrong, so now I asked her, "So you are admitting over recorded lines that your site had a fault that caused customers to not be able to browse to that site and you bait and switched what item was being sold?"
She told me to get bent, literally. I then told her that I would post here as well as contacting the BBB.
For proof of the 11:01 status of amazon look at my pic on http://www.hotwiredpc.com/screwedbyamazon.jpg.
Also any moderators who read this, the site at the main directory is a placeholder for now so I'm not trying to generate traffic by posting that link so please don't remove it.
Thank You.

"Amazon cancelled my order with no explanaation. They have also done this in the past. Why take an order if you don't have the product and take all my credit card information !!! IF they don't have a product on a certain date they typically move back the ship date and not just cncel the order. I woudl think twice before dealing with them in the future. There customer service is horrible and I will never deal with them again !!!"
"Ordered an in-stock item. Two days later the order was canceled. Apparently Amazon likes to tell us they got stuff in stock, when they do not. I will not do business with a retailer that LIES."
"Cancel order with notification, order was there then poof just drop out their system. No explanation given. Waste of time ordering from this shady online giant. They do not care about you."
