"Amazon cancelled my PS3 order with no notice or email and no compensation. BS!"
"I ordered the PS3 as soon as it become available at Amazon. It was being sold by Target through Amazon. I placed my order and got the auto-confirm. Today I check my status and my order dissappears without any notification or email on why it dissappeared. It's like I never ordered it. Very bad business that Amazon is doing, putting a product such as the PS3 up and having it available to customers when they don't even have it."
"Ordered a Motorola Signal Booster at a fair price. They sent it via UPS 2-day to Alaska at a very good shipping rate.
Great service as usual from Amazon - an Alaska-friendly store for the most part. They won't send things like large TVs to Alaska, but for items that qualify for free shipping, they are a welcome relief from most other stores."
"Amazon is good for small items they carry themselves. I ordered labelling tape for my Brother and ink for my Epson printer. Split shipments still arrived 5 days before estimated by Amazon, and this was free shipping. It's hard to beat free shipping and good prices. Have ordered from them many times in past - always get what I want quickly without fuss, without shipping costs."
"They conveniently managed to lose my order between charging my credit card and transmitting the order to the third-party vendor. I placed my order on the 9th, my credit card was charged, and I was told that my order was sent to the 3rd-party vendor. But when I hadn't heard anything regarding shipment on the 14th, I called the vendor directly. They had no knowledge of my order or any of my contact information, so somehow the transmission from Amazon to them never made it there. Amazon's "Customer Service" department was of no help, telling me that my order was transmitted and that I should receive shipment between 11/13 and 11/20. When I told them (repeatedly, so they'd listen) that the 3rd party vendor had not received the order, they told me that it was my responsibility to contact resolve the issue with them directly, and that Amazon had nothing they could do. Since I can't get a refund back from Amazon until the 21st (the day after my expected receipt date), the 3rd party vendor suggested that I dispute the charge on my credit card and place my order through NewEgg, instead."
"I bought a Dewalt jig saw from Amazon, model DW331K, and after receiving it I found that the saw had been manufactured in Mexico. I make it a point as my part of preserving American jobs to avoid anything that is made in Mexico and I didn't know that Dewalt had stooped to that so I requested to return it (completely new and unused)so I could buy a different brand from Amazon. A brand that I knew was not made in Mexico-and it was even going to cost me more money for the second saw (which would be good for Amazon.com you would think). However even though I was going to be given a rma to return the saw, since I originally received free shipping with the Dewalt saw, I was informed that I would be back charged for the original shipping fee on top of what it was going to cost me to ship the saw back to them. I refused and elected to keep it. I thought that was extremely poor judgment of Amazon.com considering that if they noted on their web site where their products are manufactured these types of problems could be avoided. Another problem that I have with Amazon.com is that there is no Log Off button on their web pages. The day after buying this saw from them , when I reopened my browser to their web site I was automatically logged in. I sent them a email about this and their response was sent to me as follows
"If you'd like to log out of our web site, here's how:
1. Click the link near the top of the home page that says "If you're
not ____, click here."
2. On the next page, leave the e-mail and password spaces blank and
click the Amazon.com tab at the top of the page.
Your name should no longer appear on the home page. I've included
some more information below about the effects of logging out.
I'm sorry if this process is unclear or inconvenient. "
To me that is completely crazy that a web site like Amazon doesn't supply a log out button , for you peace of mind if noting else.
Update:
Amazon has said that they would give me an RMA and not charge me for the original shipping(this item originally shipped to me with free shipping). I think this shows that Amazon.com does indeed try to make their customers happy but more importantly the manner in which I communicated with the Amazon customer service person was truly a pleasure. I don't think I've ever had such a good expierence dealing with any customer service as this one. On Amazon.com's web site, under the 'contact us' heading; after you go through a help page you are asked whether you want to contact Amazon.com by phone or by email. I chose by phone. While you are online, provided you don't have a dial-up internet service where then you have to first get off line, you click on their connection link and they immdiately call you on the phone. You are greeted with a recording stating that someone will be with you shortly and then very quickly you actually get to speak with someone. The person I spoke to was very friendly and tried to be helpful in every way and get this- Amazon's customer service is actually located in this country and not in India or somewhere else in Asia. I was very impressed and have already spread the word about this expierence with several people in my circle. I still think that Amazon needs to work on the 'Log off' button issue. That's very much needed."
"I have ordered from Amazon many, many times both for myself and from work. Generally my experiences have been very positive. Decent prices, many products with free shipping and overall pleasing results.
However, my last purchase has really turned me off. I ordered a MSI motherboard on Oct 5th. I received the order on Oct 9th. The delivered product was not the model I had ordered. I promptly resealed the package and initiated a return that same day. On Oct 18th I received an email stating that Amazon had received the returned item. After 16 days (November 3rd) and no credit to my card I emailed them. They apologized and said they would look into it. It is now 19 days since they RECEIVED the product back and the only thing I have to show for this is an updated status on my account that states Refund date: November 3rd; Status: Processing.
Funny how it takes seconds to charge my card and take my money but weeks to credit it back. This is unacceptable. I will be calling my credit card company tomorrow to dispute the charges if a credit is not issued by then.
Sorry Amazon, you have my money, you have your product back and you have had 19 days AFTER receiving the product back to make things right. In the meantime I am out ~$90 with nothing to show for it. :(
EDIT: They finally credited my credit card today on 11/07 a full 20 days since the product was shipped and received back at Amazon. I have yet to be notified of this credit and noticed only because I was checking my CC balance."
"I ordered a EOS Rebel XT from Amazon on Oct 27th(friday) and got my item on halloween(tuesday).Well packaged, well advertised, item was everything I wanted.Very Very impressed.Odd note.I got an email stating that my item would come in between Nov 2nd and 14th,which isnt bad.I chose free shipping so thats why the delay in delivery.BUT I got it quicker than what even they thought.Even though a miscalculation on their part, its a impressive one."
"I placed an order on October 14, 2006 THRU Amazon. I had A slight faux-paux with a package that was the fault of USPS. When notified, Amazon sprang to action. A little confusing getting to customer service though."
"May 2008: Pretty quick shipping this time around (I did have to pay for it, though).
November 2006: Good price on a USB hub with mail-in rebate. Got free shipping, but took 2 weeks to receive it. Again, if you need the item quickly, pay to upgrade the shipping, or you may be waiting for a while.
October 2006: Good price, but very slow shipping. The book took 7 business days (nine days total) to arrive. It may not have been Amazon's fault, so it's not a deal-breaker, just something to be aware of."
"I am surprised with any negative reports from Amazon. Fast shipping, good packaging, great price and selection. I have ordered (it seems) hundreds of items, mostly books, but many other items as well. NEVER, Never have a problem. I have returned items, (which was lost somewhere after it was shpped back) and no problems. I have found Amazon the most reliable and pleasant place to purchase of any store, brink or web.
"
"Great prices, wide selection of merchandise, fast and free shipping on most orders, and great customer service! I've ordered over one dozen books and one half-dozen CDs from Amazon.com, and they're great! I've experienced a few minor problems with coupons being applied at checkout, but I've been able to have these issues quickly rectified through email with a real person at Amazon.com. Only once did they ship me the wrong item, due to an incorrect product description, but the return was handled fast and easy. I will continue to do business with them, as they take great care of their customers! I highly recommend them to everyone! Shop with confidence! A+

"Ordered a Think Outside Stowaway Bluetooth Keyboard. Price was the best I could find, and the order process was easy. Received confirmations promptly. Originally, I was told that my keyboard would not arrive for about one week (via super saver shipping) and was delighted to receive it two days later on Friday. The keyboard was well packaged and undamaged. Will definately order from Amazon again."
"I have been ordering from Amazon.com since 2003. I have purchased from just about every category. In 2005, I just started using the year long free shipping for $79. I always look at Amazon first, especially their Friday Sales, before purchasing elsewhere. I compare prices and never pay retail. I have never had a problem with Amazon, even with returning items. I don't work for them, nor any way associated with them! I love their service. My items get here faster than any other online store, and I do a lot of online shopping. I rarely go to a Bricks & Mortar store anymore, with all of the coupon codes online to use. Also, I am very careful with the online stores that I give my business to. They must have a high rating and/or I've had good experiences with them (or recommended by people I know and trust). I would not hesitate to do business with items sent by Amazon.com. Make sure you are dealing with Amazon.com directly because a lot of businesses use Amazon to advertise and sell their items. Check their feedback on Amazon.com before ordering from them or you might be in for a bad surprise. Also, check the reviews of an item that Amazon.com sells before buying. If everyone who ordered received it broken, move on to another item. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Amazon to anyone, even my elderly Mom. "
"Great place to buy books because they are much cheaper than retail book stores. Have ordered from them a few times without any problems."
