"I've been ordering regularly from Amazon for years, and a Prime member for around 6 years. It is worth every penny. I rarely have a problem with their products or shipping and on the rare day they do, Amazon fixes it quickly. Outstanding service and the best prices around for many products. We do a majority of our shopping through them, and I've even cancelled Costco in favor of buying in bulk through Amazon."
"Been buying at Amazon for a few years now. But I ordered 4 things from there just 10 days ago. And they got 2 wrong. 1 was real wrong they sent a 50.00 camera part for a 7.00 cup. I let them know and sent it back. They then sent the right thing. But the rest of the order came and again the order was wrong. They sent the wrong travel cup.I let them know and sent that back. They then sent me the same wrong cup again.By now even though they don't give you your money back I just want my money back and tell them so. I right a review on the cup and company that sent it out--knowing that it was really them who sent it out. They refuse to publish it.I reword it not calling them idiots this time just stating the facts. They again refuse to publish this review. I notice that everytime someone even gives a honest review that is not good about a product they sell someone always comes in and says awe sorry that happened with the product but it was really just a fluke this is a good product and I have had it a year now and had no problems at all. Well bull do do. What else are these reviews for? Does Amazon pay people to go in and rebut anything anyone says negative about something that they sell? One would wonder after reading some of the negative reviews and the follow up from supposed customers. Just saying. "
"Surprised at the average rating of one and a half stars for amazon as I write this but I suppose it falls under the "people are more likely to post a complaint than praise" category - if someone does a good job and you're happy I guess most people don't feel the need to pursue the matter any further :P ... but amazon treated me so well I had to post something here... basically there was a snafu during Christmas which was a complete and utter disaster , my sister, bless her soul, has a habit of sending me expensive items for my kids that they really don't want (I know I know you're thinking "spoiled kids" but... my sis is a bit out of touch, my little guy loved his thomas the train at 5 years old but when he receives a train set at 10 years old he's too embarrassed to even open the box :P ) ...
I hate to sound racist (I'm a person "of color" myself for what it's worth) but... in the past I've had all sorts of problems when dealing with overseas call centers which amazon appears to contract some of it's customer service work out to during the holidays ... at times there's an.. I hate to say it... language barrier where I have to repeat myself several times and even after the rep on the phone finally understands you're left with the uneasy "did he/she really understand me or am I screwed here?"... sometimes that uneasy feeling proves to be correct and that's what happened here... the rep I spoke to either clicked on the wrong button or completely misunderstood me and processed the return in such a manner that it went back onto my sister's credit card rather than the normal dollar amount of the gift being given to me as a gift certificate to be applied to my account, that way I can buy my munchkins the stuff they want and give my sis the credit ...
So far doesn't sound good right? Well here's what blew me away... even after amazon processed the refund back to my sister's card by mistake they (and it was an overseas call center that did this too) STILL gave me an amazon promotional credit.. a BIG one too my sis bought a lot of stuff for the kids... to my account... so basically it's like getting a gift certificate for the worth of the items in question even though amaazon already also gave a refund for the exact same items to a different party ... granted this was after hours of frustration dealing with one customer service rep after another .. still, very generous on amazon's part and defintely worth a 5 star rating in my opinion...ps made up order # since it's under my sis's amazon account no idea what it is :P "
"There are a wide variety of products on Amazon.
I love buying produts from this site."
"Amazon is pretty decent. I use it to research some products and find the ones that save me the most money. I also sold two books from school that I no longer needed and in a matter of days it was in my bank account. A couple of weeks ago, i ordered a hook for the rainbow loom because I broke my little sister's. There were two that I found. One was cheaper and did not come with the mini loom (the blue piece), the other one was a little more expensive and it came with the mini loom. I decided I didn't really need the mini loom so I ordered the one without it. When it arrived, it came with the mini loom :D "
"I decided to order most of my gifts for my 8 grandchildren from Amazon.com. for Christmas, I only had one problem, a bounce back net for Lacrosse for my 8-year old grandson. It was not in stock, but we also could not find it locally. So it was back-ordered. Amazingly it came in and was scheduled to be delivered on December 27th. After 7 days and no delivery, I contacted Amazon and found that it was lost in transit (probably stolen from Stratford, Ct. warehouse) - so I complained - to my amazement and disbelief, the item was sent by FED EX overnight and in spite of massive snowstorm was delivered next day!! I am a believer in Amazon!!!"
"On 1/1 I placed an order for items I needed to complete a project on 1/4. Because I needed the items by that date, I paid $21.97 (a reasonable price) for "One-Day Shipping".
Amazon shipped the item via UPS Ground service. Of course it didn't arrive on time (Amazon claimed delivery by 1/3, but item hasn't yet been delivered and it's 1/4. Since UPS doesn't deliver on Saturday, I won't receive it until AT LEAST 1/6), so my project won't be completed on time and I'll have to take a day off from work to complete it THREE DAYS LATER!
The cost of UPS Ground shipping from the origin to the destination is around $12.00. I was overcharged nearly $10 for "One-Day Shipping" that was actually ground shipping; and now I have to lose pay to complete my project.
A word to the wise - don't EVER pay Amazon for expedited shipping. And don't EVER purchase an item from Amazon that you absolutely need to have in-hand by a specific date. You'll receive neither."
"I am very disappointed in Amazon. I placed an order for eight items for almost $200 on Sunday and as of today, Thursday, none of the items has shipped. Yes, I understand I selected free shipping so I did not expect the fastest means of shipment but the least they could do is to get it out the door and to the carrier in a timely manner. This is no longer the holiday gift giving season so I do not think they can blame the delay on workload. This to me indicates the delay is only the result of an arbitrary punitive decision to make those who select free shipping wait so their other forms of paid shipping are attractive options.
To make matters worse, when I emailed them about the problem I only received what was obviously a canned response because it was not even remotely related to the problem. Who ever responded did not even read the email.
Going forward I cannot say I will never use Amazon again but they will certainly be my last choice even if it is a little more expensive elsewhere. Small Ebay vendors for instance often offer free shipping, and even though the actual shipping methods they use are not the fastest, most of them try very hard to ship the order within 24 hours.

"Amazon is starting to lose credibility with me. They use to seem like they cared about their customers now it's all about the money. I was on the phone for an hour due to their system not managing my inventory correctly just to be told sorry but there is nothing they can do and I would still be held accountable. But they still managed to take their fees ( wow what a surprise). They also have a lot of foreign customer representatives that have the nerve to get upset because you can't understand them."
"I agree with Yolobaby. I'm getting pretty fed up with Amazon. I order stainless steel wire from them when they HAD them in stock, now I see they don't have 2 of them in stock, probably because they shipped those 2 to someone else. Another order has been "shipping now" for several days. Amazon really is starting to suck, and I'm thinking of getting my items elsewhere too. I used to love to buy from there and it was easy. And I'm sick of the foreign customer service reps too! It's a huge pain in the @ss. I buy from Amazon because they usually have better prices and seemed safe to use, but now they're becoming just like eBay. I've quit eBay, too. It's a shame. Amazon used to be really good and now they suck."
"It's not the same company it used to be. It's a massive giant with no way to speak to anyone with authority if there is a problem. All I get is 'form' emails from people from India - obviously their customer service has now been outsourced (nothing against India, but there is a language communication problem). Some of their policies make absolutely no sense and it's like banging your head against the wall to get someone who can think listen to you. I am so done with Amazon. I'm going to be trying to place all my orders with smaller US based businesses going forward. I know Amazon is a US based business, but they are now such a monstrosity I can't give them my business any more."
"I have had very few problems with Amazon... unlike some of the other reviews I have read. Most of the time, they are accurate, and on time. I have received an item or two that was poorly packed and damaged.. but it was quickly replaced. Once I ordered a somewhat esoteric item (fiber optic cable) and they shipped the wrong item, three different times. I gave up on that one. But I order from them a lot...usually two or three items a day. And the vast majority are perfect!
And I love their return policy... there have been items I have returned for one reason or another... no hassle, and quick refunds or replacements!"

"Amazon usually has great prices, that's way I've been using them. I have Amazon Prime which is supposed to guarantee 2- day shipping. They claim to be Customer-Centric and that customer service is their priority. WELL NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH. I have consistently been having terrible issues with receiving item on time, quality of item (from Amazon and third party resellers that Amazon says they guarantee and stand behind) Customer service is rarely able to get any matter resolved, if you ask for a supervisor, I'd say 40 % of the time you'll be told a supervisor isn't working. (WHAT CALL CENTER/CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTER IS EVER OPEN WITHOUT A SUPERVISOR ON DUTY!!!)
unfortunately it's been my experience, many times, that Amazon offers some of the poorest customer service on the planet, not the best. "
"I got a defective (Cablecard tuner) part on the mail and proceed to spend several days trying to make it work. I went trough a pair of cable cards, cables, cable outlets, calls to Comecast and the Manufacturer and finally gave up and decided to return it. I thought that was the end of my problem, but how wrong I was.
I get a return authorization from the seller. I shipped the part back on 2 day shipping, the tracking shows delivered, but now the seller says that they didn't receive anything and that they are going to check with their post office. More than a week passes by and I haven't heard anything, so I sent a follow up email. I get nothing for 2 days so I create a claim with Amazon. Shortly after I get a message from the Seller saying that they never received the package (probably didn't even make an effort with their Post Office). I wasted more time with USPS, and all I get is that the package was delivered as the tracking number shows.
I try to talk to Amazon to see my options and they tell me I need to produce a proof of delivery and that the tracking number isn't valid for that, even when I sent them the email from USPS saying that the recipient need to talk to their Post Office. To top it off they tell me that I need to respond in 3 days or they will close my claim. At this point I kissed my money good bye for I have a claim opened with USPS for almost a week and haven't heard anything. I have learned a few valuable lessons here and I hope the reader can make their own conclusion about the seller and learn from my experience.
For all I know, the Seller may be walking to the bank, laughing, to collect my money and holding the part in his/her left hand."
