"Amazon UK made a very expensive mistake when they accidentally sent me 2 ipods worth over £300 instead of my military wives CD. Doing the right thing I contact Amazon straight away as I realised someone would probably be missing Christmas presents. The first person told me to package the items, queue at the post office (a week before Christmas) and pay for the postage - stating they would reimburse the postage later if/when the items were received back at Amazon. Several phone calls later I now have to wait in for the items to be collected on 3rd January by a courier (they should never have been sent through the Royal Mail originally as they contain Lithium batteries). I have been advised it may be 9.30 am or sometime between 9am and 4.30 p.m!! And what do i get for my good samaritan deeds? A £5 voucher to spend at the unreliable Amazon! "
"Christmas Shopping this year was, by far, the easiest, most stress free one that we have ever had. Thanks to Amazon.Com and their Amazon Prime program. The Amazon Prime provides free 2 day shipping, free streaming of many of their videos, free lending of of thousandds of their ebooks and NO TAX. it costs about $80/year. Sounds like a bunch but I have easily saved that in shipping cposts over the past year, not to mention time saved and gas saved traveling from store to store. Anyway, this year the wife and I made up our Christmas lists, sat down in front of the PC with a glass of wine and a fire in the fireplace and spent about an hour oredering ALL of our Christmas gifts thru Amazon. There was not one of the items on our list that we could not find on Amazon. Everything arrived in time. Plus with all of the Amazon shipping boxes we havew accumulated over the past year we did not have to go hunting for a box to put gifts in.
On to another Amazon note, I have had nothing but bpleasant experinces with Amazon CustomerService people. They have always been able to answer any of my questions to my satisfaction (and in unsderstandable English!)I have retrurned a few items. 1 a $700 laptop was sent to me that did not work, they sent a replacement before I sent the defective unigt back. A few items returned that were not quite what I really wanted on only one of those was I charged the shipping fee for the return
And perhaps the best thing of all about shopping on Amazon are the Customer Reviews.
All in all, I am a very satisfied Amazon Customer. There is hardly anything that one cannot buy there. The free shipping using Amazon Prime and the great Customer Service make it our favorite online store

"I've ordered many items from Amazon.com before and the transactions have always been satisfactory. In this economy it's imperative to stretch your dollar as far as it can go and the variety of products and the active reviewing community are really helpful when making informed decisions on what to purchase.
There are two things that bother me about the Amazon.com experience though. First, it's frustrating that they don't provide an estimated shipping cost for the items sold by other sellers. Many times I've thought that I found the best price for the item I was shopping for, only to get to the vendor website and have the shipping costs be 3x more than that of other sellers!
The other problem I have with Amazon is the exchange policy; There is none! Having never had to return/exchange anything I had no idea what a hassle it would be. It seems that returns are quite easy to do, as Amazon will refund you as soon as they receive the item back in the form of an Amazon gift card credited to your online account. This is frustrating if you were hoping to just get a refund to your bank account. As for exchanges, I tried to make one a couple of days ago and apparently there is no easy way to do them. I received some beautiful boots for Christmas, but unfortunately they were a size too big. I contacted Amazon to see how to go about conducting an exchange for a smaller size and was surprised to find out how involved the process is.
Apparently, Amazon is not equipped to do exchanges, even if they are the sellers of the item. What you need to do is ship back the item, and then they will issue you a refund which can take up to 2 weeks. Once you receive the refund, you can then reorder the proper item. This process is so convoluted there's no wonder why Amazon as a business isn't doing very well. Imagine all of the extra man hours it takes to deal with exchanges this way! Now it's going to take about 2 1/2 weeks to get my package back.
Amazon needs to learn from websites like Zappos.com that provide excellent customer service. I wish Zappos sold more then just clothing and accessories. I once ordered shoes from them that ended up being too small. I gave customer service a call and they emailed me a shipping label and sent out the shoes in the correct size with free 2-day shipping the SAME DAY. I received my package the NEXT DAY, before I had even gotten the wrong sized shoes in the mail! They can do this because they have your payment information as insurance that you will get the return into the mail back to them. I didn't mean for this to turn into a testimonial for Zappos.com, but their customer service policy is something that Amazon can learn from. I will definitely still use Amazon for any purchases that aren't sized, but for anything I order that I think I may have to exchange or return I will be looking elsewhere."
"Poor customer service. Bad replacement policies
I placed an order with amazon only to have it damaged in shipping. UPS sent it back to amazon. They never contacted me relating to the order at all. There was a Xmas present in the order and it was due prior to Xmas. When I finally was able to get a hold of Customer service they told me that I had to re-do the entire order and I would be refunded for the first order within 4 weeks or I could just get a refund for the entire order in 4 weeks... They would not just replace the order and send me replacements.. Poor policies. Non communication of lost shipments and they like to hang onto your money for a long time. Very bad customer service. This was my first time ever buying from them and it is now my last. I will also be telling my friends about the poor service and making sure that I have them make their purchases elsewhere online."
"I ordered a Kindle Fire for my wife for Christmas on the 20th of December with 2 day shipping. It's still not here. When I contacted Amazon about this on the 23rd they said too bad - it's coming on the 28th which is obviously more than two days. Then they want me to spend $80 to join Amazon Prime so I can get "free" two day shipping. Well Jeff Bezos - your two day shipping takes 8 days so no thanks. I don't need that rip off. If you can't trust them for smaller items, how can you trust them for larger items like tv's and appliances? I'm going to stick with someone like Abt.com. They have an actual store and real people to talk to."
"My only complaint is the amount of packing materials that pile up in my garage. I go out of my way to support my local vendors and avoid the chain stores when I can. But about 20% of this Christmas gifting was purchased though Amazon and it was a treat to get stuff delivered. At least the UPS guys get paid locally. Oh and the Garbage haulers and recycle employees. The best part of Amazon is the reviews! I love to hear what people like and don't like about products. I hate buying poorly designed products. "
"Ordered a diamond palm tree necklace and it NEVER came. Called amazon and they since since from a third party (Katarina)
they have to investgate which take 2 weeks and MAYBE i'll get half the money back and I'd have to contact the seller to get the rest of my money back! I did contact the seller many of times and no answer and no response to email!! Amazon let's people sell items on there site but you might or might not get your item or your money back! This was a gift for my wife on christmas - now I'm a 100 bucks short and have to go spend another 100 somewhere else to get her another gift. Bottom line don't buy from AMAZON or Katarina jewerly they will screw you in the end!

"Another satisfactory transaction through Amazon.com. Products were sold by Amazon.com LLC."
"Amazon.co.uk Never Again!
Would never shop here again, really poor customer service, really poor communications/relations. Absolute nightmare. Never again will shop in Amazon.co.uk
If you are looking for a nightmare, please shop at Amazon.co.uk"
"I order a lot of things online from a number of places, but Amazon.com is by far and away where I order most of my online purchases through. I have been a loyal Amazon.com customer since the mid-90's. I often make purchases directly from Amazon, but I often order things from Amazon Shops vendors as well. I can honestly say that I have never had a bad experience, which is astounding given the number of things I ordered through them over all these years.
I would say that the vast majority of the time I find the best price for what I am looking for on Amazon. Amazon typically has the best prices and best selection available including some hard to find items. I often begin searching for things on Google shopping, but find that Amazon still makes the list of best prices.
The only thing that would make Amazon.com a better shopping experience for me would be if they started accepting PayPal payments for my purchases."
"I've had nothing but good experiences with Amazon. Prices are always as good or better than anywhere else. Shipping is prompt and well documented. I placed an order for several items for Christmas, all to be shipped together. They split the order so I could get quicker shipments - all at no extra charge to me."
"Amazon has been my favorite online store, and I have bought thousands of dollars of electronic equipments from them until now. I ordered a Pelican 1510 with a picture of a lid organizer included with the package. They told me to return the package and they will send me a case with the lid organizer, they sent me the same package without the lid organizer again. I called them complaining and operator Natasia, was very rude and disrectful, and just changed my mind about buying again from Amazon. Their customer service quality has deteriorated lately, go someplace else to buy your stuff, because it was clearly a deceptive practice and misrepresentation. By the way the lid organizer is $22.00, as you can see it is not about the money, it is about getting good customer service, which Amazon doesn't have right now."
"I have been shopping at Amazon since the first week the site went live. IMO, Amazon is the best all around store on the internet. Amazon Prime just makes shopping at Amazon that much better. Sure, you run into problems here and there but that's life. No company is above making mistakes especially when they do the sheer volume that Amazon does. Its how those mistakes are handled that is important and Amazon's customer service is top notch in every way. Every problem I have ever had has been handled properly.
One of the best aspects to Amazon is the number of products they sell. I cant even begin to estimate how many products I have been introduced too by shopping on Amazon, especially in their food section. Half of the products that now sit on my kitchen shelves are products that I found on Amazon. Basically Amazon is a shoppers paradise. My wife and I placed over 250 orders in 2011 and 99% of them arrived at my door, in 2 days or less, exactly as one would expect them to arrive.
One click shopping coupled with Amazon prime = the easiest shopping experience one can possible have. Shopping is literally one click of a button. I have had shopping sessions that literally were less than 15 seconds long. Log into Amazon, find the product and push the one click button. Done. No filling out forms. No choosing shipping or billing addresses, no filling in payment methods. One click and your done, period. For someone like myself, that is on the go a lot of the time....well, one click is just a godsend.
Bottom line - I cant possible give Amazon a higher recommendation. If you take the time to set everything up, shopping at Amazon becomes the most hassle free shopping experience a person can possibly have. Add to this a mind blowing selection of products and amazing customer service and you get the best shopping experience I think one can have on the internet. I certainly haven't seen its equal and I have shopped at hundreds of different stores on the internet including all of the major chains.
5 stars and then some!"
"Amazon is a great company to buy most things from, I had a little trouble with the shipping of my 51" plasma TV but Amazon customer service was decent at getting it resolved. Overall I would buy from them again."
"You know, I really can't think of any negative experience with Amazon. Sure, they're absolutely huge and people love to hate it, but at the end of the day the really run a pretty fantastic, fast, and inexpensive operation.
The website is well laid out, items are easy to find, and there is an abundance of selection and alternative vendors - as well as used items. What more could you want?"
