"I use Amazon.com but they are my last choice. I only use them when I cannot find something somewhere else. The problem is their shipping policy. I can understand when you select free shipping that they are going to ship by the least expensive method and that might not be the quickest. I can accept that. What I cannot accept is the fact is that they sit on the order and do not process it for four days when you select free shipping. You order something on Monday and it doesn't ship until Friday. That is unacceptable and it appears that it is only a punitive measure. They apparently want to make sure you really do have to wait if you select free shipping since once it is shipped it arrives in 2-3 days. This has happened not once but several times so it is not an exception but a pattern."

First, they are totally debendable. Their prices are always among the lowest and even when they're not, they're worth the extra little bit they may charge for the piece of mind that their dependability provides. "This rating is for one specific purchase. Overall I would give Amazon a 4+. With the tarnish being their customer service. Amazon's prices are great but their customer service leaves room for improvement. It seems they don't hold their 3rd party sellers accountable. I purchased what I thought was going to be a kung fu panda dvd with mandarin chinese audio. Turns out chinese isnt even listed on the box; but rather spanish. Amazon sent me a return label but did not refund the seller's charge for shipping and handling. I've continued shopping at Amazon for their great prices on most products but this experience has made me leery of purchasing from 3rd parties on amazon. Their customer service tab is also not readily accessible and there's barriers to reaching them."

"I have shopped with Amazon for years and have rarely had a problem. Whenever I do have a problem there is never any issues and everything is resolved easily. I'm a Prime member and I have to say it is well worth it, even before they added the streaming movies. Only thing that sucks is that it's not on xbox yet."

Purchases, sold by amazon, came as described and well packaged. Shipping has always been inconsistent, just "OK" to "slow" for their "Free Shipper Savings" option.
Amazon has been very competitive with prices on electronics/computer equipment lately.

Amazon, and sellers in it's marketplace, have always had some of the best prices on books and college text books.

I once made a purchase on the marketplace, but the sketchy seller never got the book to me. I used the "complain feature" and Amazon reimbursed me the cost. Great job by Amazon on that one.

I sell a lot of used text books on Amazon through the marketplace, and it's a easy way to get rid of books fast, however Amazon does take a huge commission. The market place is great, just be careful of incorrectly placed products/editions, and of seller reviews."

They are great online retailer and they have great prices on everything, but the things I save in the shopping cart tend to go up in price and then I have to remove it. Another thing is that I have to 4 to 5 days before the order gets shipped. I wish that they would just process the order after a day or 2 not 5 business days being wasted. Above all the good thing is that when the package arrives the products work great except a few things like the shortwave radios. "

"Have placed over 100 orders totaling over 150 items in the last three years from Amazon.com, as well as selling items in the Amazon marketplace occasionally. I have only had a problem with them once and they resolved it within an hour of being contacted about it.

People tend to be quick to blame Amazon for faults of people in the marketplace, but people need to understand that Amazon Marketplace is run like ebay, so you need to be aware of what you are buying.
