"There are better prices elsewhere, but even then I like Amazon for the guaranteed satisfaction. I have had maybe 5 issues (bad/broken products) in several hundred orders, and never had any issues with return/replacement. Free shipping is always a win.

Recently added Kindle 3, and despite the "closed" platform (there are 3rd-party Mac/Windows/Linux tools to reformat ebooks as .azw* or .mobi), and despite Kindle's generally awful organizational capabilities (single level "collections", etc), I love reading casual fiction and some non-fiction on it. Common "reader services" are stream-lined and simple, although there is no longer a discount at Amazon for ebooks."

The thing that really sold me on Amazon.com is their customer service in dealing with returns. Quick and easy process gives the buyer a comfort level that isn't always found with online retailers.

"Amazon is a pretty decent place to purchase all kinds of stuff. I've mostly purchased PC components from them. They're shipping is a bit slow, but their prices are good which makes it worth the wait. Unfortunately I can't rely on them to always have what I need, as they're frequently out of stock on some items or have prices fluctuate a lot based on which of their 3rd party retailers have the item in stock or not. Other notes:
Shipping - shipping on small ticket items can be a little shady if you purchase through one of Amaon's partners instead of directly from Amazon. Example: Order a plain t-shirt for $10 and shipping is reasonable. Order 3 of the same shirt and shipping is slightly less but by no means combined. Kind of remind me of shopping on ebay... you see an item listed for a penny only to notice that the "shipping and handling" is $5,000,000. If you stick to items costing more that $25 then the shipping is just AWESOME, but then what is the point of Prime? I guess if you want all of your products within 48 hours then it has some value...

Customer Service - Best of the best. I had some MAJOR problems getting my $1500 flat screen shipped to my house. Two weeks turned into two and a half weeks which turned into 3 weeks. I even had to take time off from work to wait for the delivery truck after they switched the delivery date on me and it never showed up! Contacted customer service who got in touch with the shipping company who got in contact with me the following Monday. Don't ever get anything shipped by Home Direct.

Through all of that I am a satisfied and completely loyal Amazon customer for one reason... Amazon's customer service. I called them up and they actually cared about my problem. I can't remember the last time I recieved such friendly, personable, helpful service from someone on a phone hundreds of miles away. Heck, I can't even remember the last time I had that level of service from a real live human being standing right in front of me! If anything does go wrong Amazon will make it right. That's why they are one of only a handfull of online retailers I will usually buy from. They are right up there with NewEgg and Sierra Trading Post for customer service, and if you are familiar with either of those retailers you know that is saying a lot."
