"The site Amazon as a whole has been a reputable and awesome place for my family to get movies and books. Over the years (all the way back when Amazon.com was only an online book and music cd store), we've gone back to Amazon time and time again.

Lately, we have noticed more items listed on the website by individual sellers, IE, not Amazon themselves but the private storefronts within Amazon.

This concept wasn't new to me, Ebay has been doing it for years - and it's a great way to snag a quick deal.

However -

Upon having ordered Polaroid CPM-300 - Digital camera - compact - 3.2 Mpix - supported memory: MMC, SD - with Polaroid P310 Photo Printer bundle, I was left with a very sour taste in my mouth.

I ordered the item on 3/26/2011. The money was instantly deducted out my account, everything fine and dandy as usual.

3/30/2011: Still no mention of shipment or anything other than "shipping soon". I send a polite e-mail to the seller inquiring a round estimate on when the item would ship. No reply whatsoever.

I figured hey, maybe he's just busy. I'll give it a little time.

4/1/2011: Still no mention of shipment, site status still says "shipping soon". I send another polite e-mail to the seller, no response.

4/3/2011: Status on site still "shipping soon", at this point I begin to wonder if I was had, or this seller had any intention at all of fulfilling the order I paid for. Sent another e-mail, no response.

4/4/2011: Nothing, shipping status still "shipping soon". I e-mail the seller, no reply. I actually get an automated e-mail from Amazon stating "the order hasn't yet shipped, perhaps try contacting the seller for information regarding the shipping status". At this point I'm angry.

I give it 4 more days. Finally,

4/8/2011: I decide forget this - I send the seller an e-mail stating how despicable the service was and his utter lack of reply and was no longer interested in the item. Still no reply, who would have thought. The seller claims to "guarantee shipment within 2 days of purchase". This is a guarantee, and Amazon somehow doesn't hold him to it.

Amazon offers no way for me to get my money back unless I wait an inordinate period of time, past the time stated on the seller's storefront.

Sorry, but seller Foxinsox30 left me with nothing but a terrible experience and I won't lie, I'm really angry about it. I've always relied on Amazon for their fast and affordable shipping, and I have no idea how people like this are able to conduct shoddy business like this on the Amazon website.

So in short, I love Amazon - but I despise their laxed rules regarding resellers on their site. If it is a part of Amazon, there should be a mechanism in place for situations like this without us having to wait a month for a turn-around. I will never buy from an individual seller through Amazon again.

"I do not hesitate to use Amazon.com. I have, especially in recent years, found their prices to be competitive (if not typically less expensive) than shopping through eBay.

During my five years of experience using Amazon, I have found their return policy to be reasonably generous and flexible.

For the most part, their shipping costs are either free or reasonable.

"I purchase from Amazon a lot - way too much. LOL I have never had a negative experience. I also try and order only if Amazon has it, unless it's a book. For one reason, you get free shipping if it's over $25, and another thing is, you don't have to worry about 3rd party vendors who may or may not be that good to deal with. I have only had to return one item, and since it came directly from Amazon, it was a painless experience. There was nothing wrong with the product - it just didn't fit my needs. I did lose on shipping charges, but it was my fault and I can live with that. "

"I purchased a high definition RGB cable from a third party retailer from through amazon.com. The cable I received did not allow for HD.

I tried to contact the third party seller, no response. So I put in a A-to-z guarantee claim and was denied. I did not receive any reason as to why it was denied. I still have the cable...It just sits in the closet and is not being used because it's worthless.

"I love Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk! I have used them several times, and they are sooooooo easy to use, and reasonable prices. Only problem for me is living outside of their general shipping area, I can't purchase certain products, due to international shipping restrictions, or access the great deals offered, such as free shipping, discounts, etc."
