"I will not touch the subject of buying from other sellers on Amazon but my latest experience with Amazon.ca was more than awful. I ordered some stuff knowing (as per Amazon statement) that the shipping will take 3-4 weeks but I was ready to accept this since it was not rush. Eventually, after 4 weeks, nothing was shipped and to my complaint, I have gotten an apologetic e-mail saying that Amazon will ship the items so I can have them in the next couple of days. Instead of a parcel, after three days I have gotten another e-mail saying that the shipment has been delayed for another 3-4 weeks. Now this is the second time I tasted this experience so I realized that if you want to buy directly from Amazon and you will see the shipping is stated that it will take 9-4 weeks, it is a blatant lie. Amazon simply does not have the stuff and it just want to keep you hooked (at your expense of course)"
"Ordered wall decals, it came in a giant box. About 5-8 times bigger than necessary. It came on 2 identical sheets of half of the wall decal, the product wasn't correct. Customer service was excellent and is shipping to me express a replacement. Overall still happy with company since they had good, completely free return on bad product."
"Ordered an item for Christmas based on delivery estimates. Thought I was dealing with a Canadian supplier when I ordered. Turns out the supplier is in the US; the delivery estimates were way off with no warning or notification (they could learn a lot from LL Bean). Amazon help was no help at all. Email response from Amazon is fairly quick but limited to canned responses and only answer one question at a time. From now on, I will stick to Indigo for books/similar and anyone else for online orders. "
"This is a review of my first time experience buying from Amazon. I Pre Ordered Gran Turismo 6 with the description of the product on their CANADIAN site listing that I will get a 1 million dollar in game credit as a pre order bonus within 2 working days of shipping. Unfortunately, Amazon denies that they ever promised this and after repeated call they have done absolutely nothing to resolve and have even tried blaming Sony on multiple occasions. This is my first and will also be my last time doing business with Amazon, they just don't seem to care about their customers at all. In fact, they hide the contact information for customer support pretty well on their site to try to discourage you from ever calling. This is the worst experience I have ever had with an online retailer. On top of all that, they didn't even ship the pre-order out on the day the game was released, they decided to sit on it for a couple of days before shipping it out!
UPDATE Dec 13, 2013:
After multiple calls with Amazon and Sony a solution that is agreeable to me has been suggested. I am therefore revising my ratings upward, however it WAS a hassle making so many calls and sending so many emails before getting a resolution suggested."
"Great service! Great product."
"The speaker I bought from Amazon.ca broke down after a week in use after taking a month to get here. Makes horrible random sounds out of one speaker when running any video format. Very low power as well so you have to turn it all up which makes that flaw even more noticeable.
The seller (Eshopic) offered me 5 dollars to fix the issue after 5 different emails with someone who could barely speak English. Filed A to Z and Amazon.ca also refuses to a straight refund this item that broke down after a week of use.
All in all terrible seller and very bad customer service from Amazon.ca. Would not recommend either site, Amazon.com is a far better alternative whenever shipping costs are not an issue."
"Good site, i buy 65 items on this site
i got 2 hard drive defect and custumer service is excellent ,no trouble this site amazon pay for return shipping and post item very quickly ,"
"They have deals very frequently and offer fast shipping. My last order took 2 days from placing the order to receiving it at the door. I just ordered a few hand tools, but that saved me about $25 from the local homedepot (and they offer extremely competitive pricing as it is).
The only thing I would suggest is when purchasing items, make sure that they are sold directly from their warehouse and not from a third party as you don't know how smoothly that interaction will go (shipping delays especially)."
"I have consistently had very good service from Amazon.ca. Shipments always arrive very quickly (this week in 24 hours!) and as ordered. I shop around so I don't order solely from Amazon but am impressed with their turnaround time.
I have had to return items twice but this was a publisher issue (missing pages) rather than a fault with Amazon. Their customer service was quick to help and the replacement items were shipped promptly and without question."
"Pricing: The items that I usually buy (books, CDs and DVDs) are well priced considering they are new, and are often the cheaper side. I have noticed that as a whole, the prices are pretty moderate. Children's toys and the like typically are on the rip-off end of the spectrum (in my opinion).
Tracking Orders: It's very easy to track your order and the format of the sit is simply to maneuver around. I've ordered multiple items, and if they ship them separately, you are able to track both of them as separate shipments.
Shipping: The shipping prices are good and it's easy to get free shipping. I've never had a order where I've needed to pay shipping, since it's easy to buy a few items you need and pass the $25 mark (even by a few cents). The time it takes to ship is pretty moderate.
Item Quality: All my usual items (books, CDs and DVDs) arrive in great condition and exactly how I expect them too. Never had a problem and the packaging is easy to open and protects the item(s) well. Upon occasion, I've received an item where the description of the item wasn't very accurate, and sometimes there isn't even a description. Be wary of these items, they can sometimes be rip-offs.
All in all, more Pros than Cons."
"Amazon.ca is a good place to get deals on sale/clearance items. I find some of their regular prices a bit high though.
I've bought a few things here, and never had a problem, though once, I ordered something which ended up being back ordered, but there was no problem getting a refund."
"Terrible service, phantom products
Placed order Dec 26. RCA voice recorder "in stock" get... reply item will ship 3-5 weeks??? 3 weeks later i contact them again, told item will ship 6-8 weeks from purchase date as
item is back ordered. I contact them again at 6 weeks told item is still back ordered. March 16 I contact them again shipping date unknow Items listed as unavailable. The item has been avaliable the entire time from a dozen sources on amazon.com as well as other suppliers in canada.
Amazon.ca is unreliable. Buyer beware..."
"Is there anything these guys can't do? Great prices, fast delivery, easy to use. Exceptional service!"
"I ordered a few of the Lord of the Rings extended edition blu-rays on a good sale. Rather than leaving my package at my apartment, UPS had it sent to one of their stores to pick it up myself. I had five days to do this. I wasn't able to because I was out of the country, so UPS returned it to Amazon. I called Amazon up and they were very helpful. They shipped out the order again via Canada Post express and I got it in a few days. Great customer service."
"I think I've bought over 100 items from Amazon.ca. A vast majority have been CDs, books, games, and smaller items, but never, not even once has there been a problem. The shipping is always spot on and I love reading customer reviews before buying something. Funny how Amazon.com doesn't have as strong a rating on here, but Amazon.ca has been spot on in my opinion. It's the best e-commerce site out there. "
