"I ordered repair parts for my Whirlpool TFX25JPCGWW refrigerator/freezer from AppliancePartsPros.com after noticing refrigerator temps at about 50degrees F and frost on the freezer back panel. Even though I was reasonably sure the defrost heater was the problem since it was discolored and there was no continuity across the tube coil I ordered all 3 parts associated with the defrost function, the heater, timer and thermostat, to make sure the fridge would run without having to order anything else. After letting the fridge sit and thaw out the evaporator coils for 24 hours I installed the heater, thermostat and timer, then I plugged in the fridge to test it before reassembling the panels. The fridge did not start. After checking all connections without a change I suspected the possibility that new defrost timer might be initially set to enter a defrost cycle I checked the defrost heater to see if it was on. It was not. So I began swapping out parts with my old parts beginning with the defrost timer. Upon unplugging the old timer and plugging my old timer back in, the fridge immediately started up. I unplugged the fridge, waited 2 minutes and swapped the timers again. The fridge did not start. So, I again put my old timer back in and the fridge started. I called customer service and told the agent I had a defective part number AP2061695. I was told they would replace the part but I would have to ship the defective part back to them AT MY EXPENSE saying they would only pay to ship back a part that was in re-saleable condition. I protested, "How would any customer know they had a defective part without installing it? And why would you resell a defective part to another customer?" I asked. "I'm sorry sir," customer service replied. "That is our policy."
BUYER BEWARE ! That means there is really no warranty on any parts like their policy boasts unless you are willing to add shipping (in my case $16.20 FedEx ground) to the original cost of $21.80. So, now after paying $21.80 I will have to use my old defrost timer or effectively pay $38.00 for another one that... again... I might have to ship back to them for another $16.20 if it, too, does not work. Stay away from this company until they deal with defective parts honestly."
“I apologize for any misunderstanding about our warranty and return policy. We do warranty parts for 365 days. If a part is defective, we will replace it at no cost to the customer, with no requirement that the part be returned. If a part isn't defective or damaged and a customer simply wants to return it, that's when we cannot accept a return of an installed part, because it is considered used and is not resalable. To avoid installing a part you may not need, we advise testing suspected faulty parts, that way you know for certain which ones need replacing.
Again, I'm sorry if our agent did not adequately explain these policies. We have issued you a refund for that part, though it may take 3 - 5 days to process back to the card used to place the order.
