"Needed to replace the dial on an old Sears Kenmore topload washer. The dial would not stay in sync with the timer or knob. Found instructions online and a video on how to replace the knob and hence the dial beneath it. Instructions for my model number indicated that the knob unscrewed from the timer shaft and the dial could be removed, simple, right? Nope, since you can't see behind the knob and when you turn the knob the timer shaft turns with it, in either direction. So, I grabbed the timer shaft with needlenose pliers and turned the knob and it came right off along with the two prongs that held the knob to the timer shaft. My knob was suppose to have pulled off and not unscrewed. In checking online for a replacement timer, I came across the website for AppliancePartsPros. I entered my washers model number and found another instructional video that listed the correct way to have made the repair. Since their site was more accurate, I ordered the listed timer from AppliancePartsPros. They hinted that delivery would be fast and since laundry was piling up, that was another selling point. Sure enough, in about a day and a half my timer arrived. I disassembled the control panel and removed the old timer but, when I went to install the new timer I learned that it was the wrong part. Mine had two electrical connectors and the replacement only had one. Physically it was similar (as they all are- I think). I then called AppliancePartsPros and spoke to a nice man named Kurt. I explained my dilema and provided what appeared to be a part number on the old timer. He explained that there was two versions of timers used in washers like mine and I would have to re-order the correct one. I did, and waited over the 4th of July for arrival of my second new timer. Timer came just as quickly and within 10 minutes, it was installed and the washer was working properly. I would have scored this company with 5 stars because they really deserved it had it not been for the error in the replacement part and my having to make a second order. There was nothing on the website to indicate that more than one option existed. Plus, I had to pay for return postage on the first timer. Would I purchase from this company again? You bet! Only next time it may be better to call instead of going online and removing the old part first so that a possible part number to compare with would be available."
