"Why buy lenses when you can rent expensive lenses when you want and whichever you want. The lenses I rented a Canon 70-200 F4L and EF S 10-22 IS were both great. Both came with filters and 70-200 came with a hood. The pick up and drop off is great if you are travelling to oen of the cities thus saving you risk of carrying through the airports. I had to return the lens early and could not use it for 4th of july as I was flying out and the return shop was closed on that day. I returned the lenses 4 days earlier. I just wish they provide some credit on the next rental for early return. "

"This was my first experience with this company. Overall, it was a very good and satisfying experience. I had two weddings to photograph, and I'd always heard from other photographers about a specific lens (Nikon 24-70mm) was such a great lens for wedding photography. I've thought about buying it, but it's one of the most expensive lenses on the market, twice as expensive as my camera. It was incredible. Using BorrowLenses allowed me to "test drive" some equipment that I needed, and now I realize that it's worth the purchase price. When I get ready to upgrade my camera, I'm sure I'll use BorrowLenses.com again to give it a test drive.
Along with the applause, I do feel the need to tell other potential customers that there is one thing that is a little misleading. It's not anything shady... other companies do it too. When I looked at their website at the lens I wanted, it showed a three day rental price of about $38 give or take. I thought that's a great deal! My final invoice however, was for around $100 give or take some change. There is the cost of the insurance... and the FedEx shipping both ways. The costs are reasonable, I just think it would be more honest to put an estimated total cost underneath the $38 pricetag on the rental. This is very similar to when I made a purchase from a large flower delivery company that claim to be PRO. I bought some flowers for $29 and by the time I checked out, the price had jumped to about $85. "
"Excellent service from BorrowLenses.com. Their online rental process was simple and straight forward. The added confirmation & validation required gave me a sense of security, and provided a level of confidence in the company I chose to rent from. This is especially important since you're counting on the equipment to capture once in a lifetime images for a paying client!
The gear itself was delivered on time and in the conditioned expected. However, I did have issues with the camera's record function/button - it did not work 100% of the time, in fact most of the time I had to repeatedly trigger the button to start the video recording. (I rented a Nikon D7000 - we own 3 bodies of our own and never experienced this issue. Luckily, it was a nuisance I was able to deal with... I can't fault BorrowLenses for this completely since I'm sure the camera has been through many hands an may have been abused previously. To be fair, the problem wasn't noticeable at the start of the shoot, but did get progressively worse - again, it was manageable, but a real nuisance.)
Renting was the best option for our assignment. BorrowLenses had all the items in stock that I required: body, grip, lens, flash, battery, and charger. This gave me a chance to audition the 24mm-120mm f4 Nikon lens for video purposes. (The idea of the lens - having a fixed aperture thru the entire zoom range - met my initial expectations. However, the smoothness of pulling a zoom via the zoom ring was terrible. I could not get a smooth slow zoom in or out without a stutter from the zoom ring. It was truly unfortunate. I'm not sure if that was from repeated use/rentals or manufacturing from Nikon since I own other zoom lenses from Nikon that exhibit the same "feel" - but only on the "consumer" grade lenses, our "pro" lenses are smooth as butter! ) My conclusion about the effectiveness of this lens for video use on the D7000 is "so-so". The f4 aperture actually wasn't too bad when the lighting got challenging - I used LED temperature balance video lights to compensate. It was the stuttering zoom ring that made it a deal-breaker for me. I suspect if Nikon made a version that utilized an "internal" zoom mechanism and an all-metal body, that it would be a no-brainer. But, this lens felt more like a "consumer" built multi-purpose lens rather than a "pro" go-to lens. The image quality was on par with the 24mm-70mm f2.8 that I used on another D7000 - so no issues with it's abilities, just had functional drawbacks...
Overall, I would and have recommended to others to rent from BorrowLenses.com... I was actually referred to their sight from another photographer as well. Reasonable prices, reliable delivery, great product inventory & selection, excellent gear conditioning (not withstanding the "malfunctioning record button")... all-in-all it was a great experience renting from BorrowLenses.com "
