"Easily the worst store I've seen in quite a while. Look, most people hate creating a new user account, but I did just to hate on this store. The phone call they require to ship your order is ridiculous as they try to sell you all kinds of warranties and accessories. There is ALWAYS, always a catch for a price so cheap. It's an idiocy of a store and honestly it's better to pay the extra $50-75 at a reputable store, reward the honest people making an honest buck, and save your sanity. Absolute 0 out of 10 rating, with a negative number if I could. You have been warned."
"I would seriously urge you NOT to do business with this company. I think they are engaging in unscrupulous business practices -- misrepresenting the items they are selling and their true net costs, and treating customers who try to return anything abusively.
I placed an order for a digital camera for $313, including shipping. I was sent an email that said to call customer service to confirm my order. My husband called and was told that the battery that came with the camera would only last 20 minutes and was persuaded to upgrade to a package deal that included a full-strength camera and tripod for $399 (including shipping).
I called Digital Liquidators to request an authorization number to send back the additional battery and tripod because I knew that the camera should in fact come with a full-strength battery from the manufacturer.
In addition, the invoice listed $39.99 for “S.H.I.P. Fees”, although their web site says that the rate for UPS 2 day shipping is $26.61.
I was treated extremely unprofessionally on the phone by a young man who first told me his name was Bill Cook and then later said it was Andy. He was very rude (saying "So tell them to fire me!" and "We don't care about your business anyway!") when I complained, and refused to let me speak to a supervisor. I was immediately called back by a man who said his name was Gabe (but who sounded very much like the first man I spoke to). He was also belligerent.
He said that only the "American version" of the camera came with a full-strength battery, but that I was sent an "international version".
The web site states in bold red print “We assure you that this item is brand new, factory sealed with a one year warranty and includes all manufacturer bundled accessories”. The camera box was not sealed, and there was no warranty included with the camera.
I was told that I could not return just the extra battery and tripod, but would have to return the entire order or nothing -- but that I would only receive a credit of about $353. Assuming I would not get refunded for the legitimate shipping charge of $26.61, that is still $60 less than I paid. "
"I purchases a fuji s5200 camera from this company before i read all of these stories and began to become worried I would be ripped off. I am reporting the total opposite. In fact I am very pleased with the experience I had. My camera arrived in 3 days WOW. Will buy from again."
"Absolute WORST Customer Service EVER. I spent over 45 minutes getting transferred back and forth between people, and NOT ONE single person let me finish my sentence before transfering me. I asked for a supervisor, they sent me to customer service, I asked for another supervisor, and theirs if they werent in, I was then left on hold for 20 minutes before I hung the phone up. I WILL NEVER try to save a buck again and buy from a less than 3rd rate company EVER!
BUYERS BEWARE!!!!"
"OK, I cannot give this store a completely bad review. They are somewhere in the middle, although their business practice is somewhat shady. They advertised a Sony camera at a very low price. Come to find out, it's the "non-USA" version, although it says nothing about this on their website. The USA version will cost you $100 more. Even after this, the price on the USA version was reasonable. In fact, I would have bought it from them if I hadn't felt deceived from the start.
I wish these places would learn that honest business practices equals more customers.
I urge buyers to approach PreferredPhoto with caution. Perhaps a good deal can be had here, but make sure you are well-educated on your product and price before you buy. "
"beware of the many positive reviews marked as only (1) as many are likely fraudulant. we placed an order for an expensive projector and they tried to sell us all the accessories that are supposed to be included. we cancelled the order and they were very, very difficult to work with and put us on hold for around half an hour just to cancel the order. now we have to watch our credit card bill for a few months to make sure these guys don't charge us anyways? All the same tactics of the "brooklyn camera stores" that are described elsewhere online, although maybe not quite as agressive as some others. Even so, I would never consider them again."
"Very disappointed. I ordered a digital camera. When I received it, I read the manual and it said "Before you use the camera check contents" and it listed what was supposed to have come with the camera. Well, the memory chip was missing and the battery had been replaced with a smaller battery. Obviously they had opened the camera sent by the manufacturer, removed parts, sold me an incomplete camera and then tried to charge me more by attempting to sell those parts seperate. Is that really legal??? "
"I RECEIVED A ( WHAT I THOUGHT WAS A NEW)CAMERA THAT DID NOT INCLUDE THE BATTERIES AS IT STATED IN THE PACKING LIST AND INSIDE THE MANUAL WAS A RECEIPT FROM "HEFLIN ARTS COUNCIL CONTINUING ED. DIV" FOR " COMPUTER WORK SHOP, CAMERA" IN THE AMOUNT OF $25. I CALLED THEIR SUPPORT NUMBER AND EXPLAINED MY PROBLEM ( THE CAMERA SHUTS ITSELF DOWN AFTER A FEW MINS SAYING THE "BATTERIES ARE EXHAUSTED", THE FELLA SAID THAT BATTERIES ONLY LAST ABOUT 5 MINS IN THIS CAMERA (I HAVE ONE JUST LIKE IT ,AND LIKE IT SO I GOT THIS ONE FOR A GIFT) BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER WHICH BATTERIES I USED THE CAMERA WOULD SHUT DOWN AFTER A FEW MINS. THIS SUPPORT FELLA HAD AN ATTITUDE OF HE COULDN'T HELP ME BUT I COULD SEND THE CAMERA BACK. I FIGURE THEY WOULD LOOK AT IT, TRY IT AND IT WOULD WORK THRU 1 OR 2 PICS AND THEY WOULD SEND IT BACK TO ME WITH IT SHOWING NO PROBLEM. I FEEL THEY SHOULD PAY FOR SHIPPING BUT THEY WOULDN'T OFFER TO DO THIS."
"FOR ANYONE WHO HAD EXTRA MONEY CHARGED TO THEIR CREDIT CARD BY PRESTIGE CAMERA - this happened to me, too. Read on.
I had a surprise $400 "handling fee" added to my order (lcd projector) which took a whopping 4 weeks to arrive. The email invoice I received after purchasing online totaled $1400 with shipping included, yet I discovered an $1800 charge on my credit card. When I called to get my $400 back, I was accused of not understanding basic math, was told I should learn to read the fine print (which I did; there was nothing about the handling fee) and they hung up on me - several times. After getting nowhere with customer service, I went to the New York Better Business Bureau's website (www.bbb.com) and filed a report - this takes 10 minutes. Two weeks later, the $400 was back on my credit card. I urge anyone who's been stolen from to file a report... get the money that was stolen from you returned, and help put this fraudulent company out of business!
I won't bother going into the countless other problems, which are basically the same as the other negative reviewers here. Definitely a company to avoid - and now I've learned to read up on companies before ordering products online! "
"I placed an order with Prestige Camera on Dec 22, 2005 for a Fuji F11 digital camera. I called in the order, was told if I paid $35 for next day shipping, I would receive my camera by Christmas.
A phone call the next day resulted in being put on hold for 20 minutes 3 different times and then cut off. When I finally did speak to "customer service" I was told by a rude person that my order was marked for delivery after Christmas, and that $35 was a normal shipping charge for ground service.
I cancelled the order, no camera for Christmas. I would stay away from Prestige camera, unless you happen to enjoy being lied to by rude people."
"This company charged me $35 for 2-day delivery, then shipped standard USP Ground and then refused to refund the difference. When contacted, they basically told me too bad, "ship it back if you don't like it." I won't be purchasing anything else from them."
"Same as everybody. I placed order for a lense They asked to veruify address and then they tried to upsell me on filters. I declined, but then depsite a statement that I would get my lense, no tracking order was issued. 2 weeks had transpired so I canceled the order. STAY WAY FROM THESE GUYS!!!!!!!They are crooks."
"I will never do business with this company again. It took me 55 minutes to call and cancel my order. It hadn't been shipped yet but they will not cancel it. I ordered a camera Thursday morning, it should have shipped Thursday night. I called Friday and they said they were waiting for me to call since they need to verify the shipping address on every order. The real reason is they try to upsell by adding another battery or a memory card. I was purchasing a Casio camera which Casio says the battery lasts for 300 pictures, the sales rep told me I would be lucky if I got 30 photos out the battery. He told me I would have to purchase an extended life battery to get the 300 photos out of a single charge. Today is Monday and they still haven't shipped my order from Thursday. Customer service on the phone are rude, I got transferred 3 times before they disconnected me. I will never recommend this company nor will I ever do business with them again."
"I purchased from this store prior to checking this site. I have had nothing but problems with them. I ordered a canon SD550 and my one and only question to them was "I will only order if it will be here on time for Christmas". I was told that we can't get an arrival date until it goes through the order process and is packed in the 'shipping' area. From the 12th on I have been trying to contact the company for a shipping date and still haven't heard back from them. I have e-mailed at least 10 times and they have charged my credit card. I am sure that I will not receive this item on time for the Christmas gift it was intended to be. What a HORRIBLE company and I would discourage anyone from EVER DOING BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. "
"Had a similar experience: they wanted me to "call to confirm" -- just to give them the chance to sell me more stuff. They tried to tell me that the camera shipped with a "dummy battery" that you had to throw away after the first use, and that they would give me some $100 replacement battery for 1/2 price. When I declined, he wouldn't take "no" for an answer and kept trying to sell me stuff. Gave me a very bad taste in my mouth. Luckily, I did a search and found this site when I still had him on the phone, so I cancelled my order. We'll see if I get my money back. Stay away."
