"Ordered a Canon A620 Camera and then received a call from them wanting to sell me batteries and a charger. I wanted a Powerex unit which they said they would send for $48. However they sent a no name brand made in China. I called Customer Service and in the unpleasant exchange they told me that I would have to send everything back if I didn’t keep the batteries and charger and pay a 5% restocking fee.

I sent the batteries and charger back despite their refusal to accept them and plan to dispute the $48 charge with the credit card company.

If you order extras they add it to the price of the camera, and do not show the price of the additional items on the statement. When you have completed processing you order, instead of getting a screen where you can print a copy of your order, you get a screen telling that your order is complete. At the bottom it states "The charges at this point may not be final. You will receive you final statement with the arrival of your package". Customer Service pointed out this little detail for me.

They remove warranty cards which you need for warranty work with Canon. Therefore you have to send the item back to Broadway for warranty work and pay what ever shipping charges they want, and hope you get your camera back

I order a lot of items online and have never experienced anything like this company, next time I will be sure and read customer reviews. I plan on writing the NY State Attorney General about this company and suggest other people do the same.

"GIVES INTERNET SALES A BAD NAME. My experience was similar to others. After the order was placed I received the email asking me to call to verify my order only to be "up sold" a un-needed battery. I asked them not to process my order and told them to cancel. I then followed up with an email stating the same. I then received a response stating that my order had already been shipped and that I needed to call them. When I did they could not produce a tracking number for the supposedly shipped product. When I stated that a tracking email would have been sent automatically upon shipment of the product the "customer service" rep hung up on me.

I saw good reviews about Broadway Photo on shopchartusa.com. This is sham... These poeple are criminals. You have been warned.

"I just placed my order and of course found out that my wife has already purchased the item.
So, now I'm trying to cancel my order and I am finding it a bit difficult. I have called and been placed on hold for the longest times. The phone gets picked up and manually put on hold over and over again.
I'll give these guys the benefit of the doubt for now as I will continue to try but I have to say that based on alot of what I'm reading here...I don't have too much hope for a good customer relations action here. Man, I should have reviewed this site first.
Oh...btw, this is an overseas boxed product. Sony Cybershot Camera P200. The salesman told me that the warranty is international and not American and I should purchase a warranty covered in America at an additional cost. I'm getting a little worried here. Good thing I used AMEX as they do not question and will come through...if I need to in this case.

"Saw good reviews on shopchartusa.com, went ahead and made the order. Suffice it to say that so far I have made in excess of 8 phone calls, left messages, wrote emails, treated curtly, and have been one week ago verbally promised that the item was shipped. So far, no email confirmation or tracking number received as promised, and the camera is no where to be seen.

Ordered on line 11/20. Ordered verified 11/22. My credit card has been charged as of 12/1. Today is 12/9.

I tried to order Casio ex-s600, and both pricerunner.com and shopcartusa.com have the same set of merchants selling the item in different prices.

These merchants are the same people!! DO NOT BE FOOLED.

Shopcartusa.com's reviews are fake. Try to post a negative yourself and you'd see you can't. Either they made up these reviews (which are undated) or they cherry picked the acceptable ones.

If you wish to torture yourself in order to save some money, IT IS NOT WORTH IT. Don't do it.

12/17: Still has NOT received camera. Called them and spoke to the same guy who told me that the camera was shipped. That turn out to be a lie. He actually laughed, said call customer service, and hang up on me. Disputing charge with credit card company. Don't even try to get them to refund you the money because they are going to hit you with a fee. This is a fraudulant merchant who cheats, lies, and makes up positive reviews. I wonder if they actually sell anything. They may actually make money by holding your money and then charge you a fee when you ask for it back.

Purchased same camera from techtoysforless.com and received it in three days! It's like night and day. Spent extra $40 ($370 instead of $330)but it's worth it.

"I am very disappointed in this company as for the equipment, the camera worked out fine. I ordered the camera and there was no problem other than just an hour later I logged back onto this website to show the camera to someone, I noticed that the price had fallen within the hour. I wrote them an email and they responded in a timely manner. However when I called about the discrepancy the price had changed again but this time it went up. On top of that the customer sales representative sold me an upgraded package which I did not want in the first place, I was originally buying just a battery. In the upgraded package I received an upgraded battery which I did purchase and an additional battery. On top of that the batteries that they sold me at a discounted rate of 50% off which ran me $49.00 you can find other places at $19.95 and lower. Get that a $49.00 battery that was half off which would have made it a $98.00 battery which you can find elsewhere for much cheaper. I think that this company was very rude and uncooperative with me when I called and questioned them about it one of the sales representatives put me on hold for an additional 25 minutes when I had already waited for 15 minutes to talk to someone. While I was on hold the call just mysteriously hung up after 25 minutes of being on hold. Did they hang up, maybe?"

"What a bunch of losers! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE SCAMMERS. First, online store, right? Then send me e-mail to confirm purchase, I buy online to NOT talk to person. Wait online for 20 minutes then attempt to hard sell to first sell me battery because battery supplied by pentax (option wpi 6.1 megap camera only last 15 minutes). Bypass battery and then questions do I want to recharge every 15, I say yes, onto mem hard sell, I have sd memory and don't need any, next gimic, well, warranty, didn't get any further and cancelled order, no usa warranty included but I assume they wanted $50. In the end do business with reputable unopened warrantied merchandise, spend the extra $40 and will have no troubles. I ended up ordering from beach, but bugdig, abes etc are all good

"Their website says if you send them e-mail, you'll get a reply within one business day. This is certainly untrue. If your order status on their website says you'll receive a tracking number by e-mail within a day, that is also untrue. There is no semblance of customer support by this merchant. They may seem to have the lowest price, but if you get your item at this price, it may well be at the expense of your patience and sanity. If there is any problem with your order, the only way you will find out is by calling them, perhaps repeatedly. Have no confidence you will ever see your product until it is actually in your hands.

I ordered a camera bag on 11/14 as a gift for my wife on our anniversary on 11/30. I received a request to call to confirm my order. I did so immediately, confirmed my shipping address and was assured both that the item was in stock and that it would ship within a day.

A week later, the order had not arrived. There was no update on their website of my order status, I received no phone calls about any problems or delay, and got no tracking number sent by e-mail. I checked the contact page of their website which promises a response within one business day and sent an urgent e-mail.

Four e-mails later, I had received no reply to my repeated inquiries. I called them, and after 15 minutes on hold and 3 transfers, they told me they didn't have confirmation of my shipping address. After doing it again, they said my order would be released to the warehouse and be shipped within a day. Their website order status was quickly updated to say my order was in the warehouse and I'd receive a shipping tracking number by e-mail within a day.

A week later and after sending another four e-mails that got no reply, I still had no tracking number, and the website order status hadn't changed. I called again, was hung up on 4 times in a row, then was told they didn't have the item in stock and had called me numerous times (but there was not a single message on my answering machine from them). They had no explanation for ignoring the 8 e-mails I had sent them inquiring about the order status.

Today they say again it will ship within a day and be here in a week. We'll see, but the anniversary is long passed and I'm an extremely disappointed by the customer non-service exhibited by this merchant. I probably place 50 or more on-line orders each year totaling several thousands of dollars. There is no chance of me ever ordering from this merchant again.

Update: Item arrived 12/13/05, almost exactly a month after ordering the item they said was "in stock and would ship in a day or two". They NEVER answered any of the dozen or so e-mails I sent them.

"They neglected to post that the camera was a refurbished one. It takes a minimum of 10 minutes to get a live person on the phone. They try high pressure "Up sales" on you before they will process your order. I STRONGLY suggest that you avoid doing business with these people.

"I found Broadway photo after looking for a Canon A620 digital camera. I found the camera for $303 About $40 cheaper than anyone else. I tried to place the order online, and the web site didnt work so I had to call. The sales people were very friendly and he did ask if I needed batteries, case or a memory card. No high pressure tactis. I actually thought it was nice of them to ask, in case I actually did need batteries. I placed the order on a monday morning 9:30 am, Thursday afternoon that same week I called back to check the status of my order. They said it was still in the warehouse and was going to be shipped with in the next 24 to 48 hours. Almost $20 shipping for this kind of service? The shipping rates are posted on their site. Ground is $13.36, 3 day is $19.99 and I was charged $16.99 By the way the right after I placed the order I checked the website and the price on the camera changed to $319 then the next day it changed to $349 then $314.45 once the camera was actually delivered it took 10 days to deliver. It took a total of 15 days. And when the camera did arrive, it was a Japaneese model. "Not for sale outside of Japan" It comes with no US warranty and Broadway photo only has a 7 day return policy. with the speed of shipping I cant see how that would be possible even if I sent it back the same day. The camera did work perfectly fine, it was brand new but it didnt come with all the manuals. And the manual that was included was photo copied and stapled together. For the extra $40 I saved I should have ordered it from a more reputable dealer."

"I ordered a refurbished Canon Rebel Digital 300D. The price was way lower than others I found, I thought there was a catch. I read warnings about other resellers about the bait and switch so I went into this carefully. I placed my order and than recieved an email telling me to call to verify. I though, "Oh, oh, here we go."

So I called the extension the email mentions and I got a recorded voice telling me the name of the person and to please hold. In the middle of the hold music, he came over and asked me to be please hold longer. And again. I'm thinking, what is he doing? I thought he couldn't be talking to someone else unless he's putting them on hold to tell me to hold. So he finally picks up my line and he goes on his sales pitch and I respectfully decline and than he quickly says "Please hold" and comes back and tries to sell me something else because the manufacuter recommends it. I told him no thank you and he puts me on hold again. I'm beginning to think this is what he was doing to his caller while I was on hold.

When he returns this time I ask him not to put me on hold anymore that I only want what I ordered, nothing more. He tries one last time to sell me a camera bag and when I say no, he quickly says my order will ship in 3 days and hangs up.

It seemed so easy so I was on pins and needles all weekend wondering if it would ship. I kept checking there website and all it said was it's has gone to the warehouse for shipping. Being a holiday weekend, I gave it until this week to arrive. Well, this morning I found the box on my porch and noticed that the shipping had been upgraded to overnight, at no extra cost to me. With the holiday, I got my product in a week.

I than got an email today letting me know that my product shipped. I guess my only complaint is that they didn't update the website fast enough. OH, and I agree that the supposedly worth $89 kit is worthless. But it's free. And the battery that came with the camera is fine. Only thing is I didn't realize is I do need to purchase my own memory card.

It may well be that it's hit or miss with this company but my experience was fine. So I will consider myself blessed.

"I had a horrible experience trying to order from these people. the sales person tried to high pressure me into buying upgrade packages, etc. he told me I had to buy a battery pack (which I later found out was included with the camera)and shipping charges were 250% of what the site says. when I called back to clarify, he kept me on hold for 30 minutes. I ended up cancelling. would not recommend."

"I placed an order for a sony dsc-200 on 10/30/05 via the internet. I received a phone call the next day to confirm the order and a sales pitch to buy an additional (extra life) battery and an additional three-year warranty. I agreed to both, and the sales person said the order would be shipped out that day, 10/31/05. I paid for 2-day delivery, as I wanted it to arrive on 11/2/05. As of Friday, 11/4/05, I had not received it. I wrote an email asking for a reduction on the shipping since it did not come yet. Finally, on 11/7/05, it arrived. The extra value kit of a tripod and lense cleaner (valued at $87.00) could be purchased at a dollar store for 2 bucks. The extra battery did not work, it would not charge, nor was it any different than the battery that comes with the camera (having researched it via other websites).
I received a reply to my email telling me to call them. Unfortunately, they're not available when I'm off work, so I finally got to call them today, 11/25/05. They added $5 to the shipping, said it was for insurance, and said the website stated that clearly. He also said that there are instructions to NOT sent complaints by email, that they wouldn't be honored. I could find no mention of either of these statements anywhere on the website.
He had the nerve to scold me about waiting so long to call. I told him I wrote twice and was not able to call during their limited customer service hours. He issued me a Return Authorization number for the defective battery, but would not refund or reduce the shipping charges despite the fact that instead of two-day, it was seven days from the date he said it would be shipped. He was not in the least way apologetic, he way insinuating that the issues were my fault because I didn't read the details on the website.
Their prices might be the best, but their service, statement of service, and general attitude stinks. I would not reccommend buying from them via the internet, ever.

"Customer service reps were EXTREMELY rude. They have another "store front" called Prestige Camera, that takes you to the same set of angry service reps. These people don't have any manners, and they're not helpful at all. Was about to purchase a video camera from them for ~$3,000 and was told that I had called too many times to ask questions! I will be buying my camera somewhere else. Thanks for a great site that exposes all of the terrible businesses out there."
