"Wow, I am very impress by the customer service and prompt shipping. I placed my order around 2:00PM PST, which is 5:00PM EST, and to my surprised, the package was shipped the very same day. Yes, it is true that they require you to call them after you order a product, probably to up sell more merchandise, but definitely there was no pressure, infact I was the one inquiring about buying accessories due to the 40% off, but I decided not, and the sales person said I could call back anytime to order them at the discounted rate."

"I bought a canon hg10 from them and they said it would arrive in 5-7 business days, but it arrived in 2. The camcorder seemed all brand new too with the warranty card. I was scared after I saw the ratings on this website, but thank goodness it came out ok. Instead of them calling me, I called them and they asked me if I wanted to buy the battery but I said no and they said enjoy your camcorder and that was it! But yeah, I wouldn't shop from them again since there were just too many bad experiences, despite mine being a good one."

"I was skeptical about this merchant after reading many negative reviews. I wanted to give a try for SONY DCR-SR200 as the next known good merchant wanted $35 more for it. I have had a nice experience with butterfly. Placed order on Friday. Of course, received an email within an hour to call them to confirm the order. Sales rep enquired if i am willing to buy accessories and extended warranty which i politely denied. He didn't insist too. Got an email on Monday saying my order has been shipped via 2 day Fedex ground. Received it on Wednesday and it was brand new and US model. Was able to register it in sony website. My overall experiece with them is pleasant. Would go to them again if the price is competitive."

"Great experience.
I try to order the same camcorder from another online store with great price and it end up to be a scam. I read up more review and kind of know how it works. You call up they work you for over price accessories, no acc? = backorder+rude customer service. I kept trying different site and order DCR-SR62 on Nov. 5th from ButterflyPhoto.
The price was better than most online at the time but they do have some bad review so i was very skeptical. Get the e-mail to confirm the order on the same day 2 hours later, same script so i expect for the same resultas 2 other site i try to buy from earlier. Call Ace back and told him that I do not want any things but my camcorder in the factory seal box. He never pressure me and said that it will be ship out later that day. I was very surprise. Get the e-mail with tracking number the next day. The best of all, the free shipping on Butterfly photo was sent by 2 day Air (for free). Just got the Camcorder last night. it's the US version, in a sealed factory box. Loved the camcorder and very happy with the service. I will definitely buy form them again.

"I'm not really sure whether to think about this company as good or as bad - on the positive side, their prices are really cheap, they do seem to sell a legitimate, brand new merchandise (at least in my case) and their shipping is also extremely fast (at least in my case). On the other hand, they do seem to have a weird billing system - first time ever my bank decided to put a temporary hold on my account, and I've been making a very expensive (considering my credit card's limit) purchases many, many times. Also, their customer support is very unresponsive when it comes to e-mail, seems like all the communications they want to do is through the phone only, which is rather bad thing to do since not everyone is able to communicate verbally well enough (such as foreign people or people with speech impairment)."

"I bought a Canon Powershop A640 and a A630. This is the second time that I ordered cameras from them. They had the best price from the CNET price comparison charts. The first time I ordered, they wanted me to call them and of course they wanted to sell me assessories. I just said no and they didn't push much. It was a pleasant phone call. The second time I ordered cameras from them, I just emailed them and said that I already had any assossories that I might need since this was the second order from them. They were happy with that so they just sent the cameras. No problem. I would do business with them again."

"This is the 2nd time I have ordered a digital point and shoot camera. On both occasions I found the process to be great!

Prices here are good. Shipping is fast (and free if you want). I paid extra for 3-5 day FedEx. It actually was sent via 2 day service :)

The products arrived safely packaged in original boxes with branded security stickers.

I received a phone call within 24 hours of placing my online order to clarify shipping address. The sales rep attempted to make further offers, but with no pressure. Once turned down, they left it at that. I am actually happy to receive the call as it confirms my order and its status.

I’ve never had a problem but they have their phone number printed all over the place. I called once to make an enquiry and I was able to get through to the right person immediately. I think they have very good customer service.

I will happily buy from these guys again.

"I was kind of weary after first reading review on this website, but decided I would give them a try anyways.
I did get the email asking to call in and "confirm" my order. He did ask to add on items, but in no way was he pushy. It was just like any other retail store (best buy, etc.) thats asks at the register if you would like to add on anything else, so I didn't really have a problem with it.

Their service was exceptional. They upgraded my shipping for free and packed my box very nicely and the camera arrived with no damage done to it whatsoever. Any other camera purchases from me will be from this place, their prices and service are unbeatable.

" I didnt buy online but rather called them on the phone, becuase I was hesitant about spending $4000 online for a Plasma TV and a surround system. Initially the conversation went ok, and I decided to place an order. Then the pushy high pressure sales started. Then came the attempt to sell me a service contract which I immediately declined, and had to be firm that he neednt waste his time tryingto change my mind. I also asked him for a set of HDMI cables, after he gave me the total I asked the price of the cables, which he told me were $80.00. I then told him to drop it because these high end cables are just a scam. He then proceeeded to argu with me, saying in so many words that I'm ignorant, I guess being an EE for the last 30 years doesnt count for much. Which he then tried to berate me for not getting a extended warranty, at which point I told him, that I wasnt going to continue with this conversation and he if he wanted my order he'd best stop, at which point he abrubtly ended the conversation. I ordered a 50" Samsung Plasma, and Yamaha ysp-1100 sound bar, a Yamaha Sun-woofer, and a Articulating TV mount. The Items arrived on time except for the sub-woofer. Here's where customer service stinks, I'll call and wait on hold 30 minutes, untill I get tired and call back this time hitting the button for sales, thinking they'll always answer the phone, but then I get the recording saying that they're closed, real annoying. I evnetually get someone the next day, tel them that I hadnt recieved my speaker, and they informa me that it was out of stock. They should have told me that when I ordered the damn thing, I would have gotten it elsewhere. I got the sub-woffer 2 weeks later. "

"Butterfly Photo is a regular grey market schemer. I purchased a Nikon camera that, according to the description on the website, came with a full US warranty. The camera was shipped promptly, but the box appears to have been opened and was a missing the warranty card (!), the manual is a photocopy of the original, and the writing on the box that is in Chinese (Japanese?). Nikon USA product registration website rejected the serial number as invalid.

More than 10 phone calls and numerous emails were completely ignored. It is impossible to reach a live person. This is now under further investigation.

I suspect that the positive ranking it has on the web is a result of employees, friends and families posting bogus positive purchase equipment.

Stay away from Butterfly Photo.
