"I'm shocked seeing all the bad reviews of Buy.com. I've been buying from them since January 2000, and have been nothing short of pleased. Yes, they have no "real-time" inventory, and yes, you might wait weeks for items that are not in stock. If you need an item now, buy it locally -- plain and simple. On my very first order, I ordered a digital camera. The camera stunk! Buy.com paid return shipping and refunded my money. A couple of years ago, I purchased a 17" flat LCD monitor that arrived with a single hot green pixel. Buy.com paid return shipping and sent me another monitor. I've ordered several more LCD monitors from them since and loved them all. My last order was a digital picture frame. I ordered it on Monday; it was on my porch Wednesday. I couldn't be happier with Buy.com. I repeat: IF YOU HAVE TIME CONSTRAINTS, BUY THE ITEM LOCALLY!!!!!!! If you want to save a ton of cash, buy online, but be prepared for glitches no matter who it is (Newegg.com excepted; they're amazing!)"

"I ordered a Toshiba combo TV,DVD,VCR from buy.com on October 6th. I reviewed the order and saw I had mistyped the address. They were immediately sent an email and also asked for the phone number and finally spoke to someone in NEW DELHI customer service. I was informed the TV would not be sent as they would call to confirm all orders and addresses. The did NOT call and did NOT cancell the order. However, they DID CHARGE BY ACCOUNT ON OCTOBER 14TH. I have sent numberous emails to customer service and 2 very long phone calls to their customer service number which routes itself to New Delhi, India. NO credit and apparantly no one with any common business sense. It is a rip. Letters are being sent to Missouri Attorney General for fraud.
DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!

"I've been using buy.com ever since they opened up. Until recently I haven't had much problem but lately their customer service has been degraded beyond imagination. First of all, they took off their phone number for service so you have to email their support which usually takes 2 days to get responded. Second I just realized that their sales ethic has disappeared. I ordered Garmin C320 again from buy.com because the first one was broken in a few days. This time I got a box that does not look new so I was worried as I was opening it. And sure enough what I found was a unit with scatches and marks of use, accesories in a plastic wrap all wrinkled and torn, a CD that has been opened. And the most importantly 128mb SD card was missing completely. I contacted their support asking them to take it back and send a new unit overnight because I was not going to wait another 2 weeks to get one. But their response was to send it back requesting a regular replacement. Unbelievable... This will be my last purchase from buy.com. "

"Ordered a Monitor and paid via paypal.
Paypal confirmed payment was received by buy.com
Received e-mail saying Thank you for your order.

Here is when the nightware started!!!


1. Buy.com cancelled my order and sent an email saying that I never completed the paypal transfer (even through did and had a confirmation from papal to prove it! )

2. Was charged for an item that they are refusing to send me!

3. No phone numbers, no way to contact company.

I finally found a numbers after hours of searching on the internet that I had to call long distance.

I was told there is not even 1 person at the main office that could talk to me about this serious problem.

I was then transferred to an Indian call center where I had to speak to an Indian who could not speak English and I could hardly understand or hear what he was saying because of the poor(VOIP) connection. He says that I need to contact paypal over and over again. I guess these guys don't understand how to look into a situation and recognize an error, but rather just shift blame to someone else.

Paypal was not to blame; they sent buy.com the money just find. Someone at buy.com decided to cancel my order after I paid for it!

I explained to him that

This is a verified paypal account
This is a confirmed address
Payment was sent and received by buy.com
It was the same address on paypal as on buy.com order page.

I guess they have a system that might be case sensitive and if you don’t type the address exactly (and I MEAN EXACTLY) it will reject it.

The fact that your shipping to confirmed paypal address and your a verfied member must not be good enough for these Indians. Geeze.

This was for a special deal on a monitor that they have ran out. So basically because of the horrible system, I am left without a monitor and out $300.

This indians are either completely incompetent or this is a big scam. Do not trust them or they will rip you off and you will have no one to call into except maybe an foreign Indian center if your lucky enough to get the long distance phone number! This company has really lost it over the years. These Indian call/processing centers are a joke and costing buy.com any creditability.

"I would be willing to bet that if people bothered to read the "HELP" or "FAQ" pages of on-line retailers, the whole shopping experience would be much smoother and realistic. I've shopped on-line and read reviews by people, both good and bad, and a lot of the people complaining have complaints that could have been avoided (or answered) if they bothered to research company policy. Everything is right there in front of you, a click away, yet people are so excited to save a buck that they bypass any important FYI that could turn out to be SIGNIFICANTLY relevant. How old are you? Old enough to shop on line and old enough to stop pointing the finger at other people for not doing your homework. No! No company is perfect. But if you read company policies before you spend your hard earned money (what idiot wouldn't) then you'll be 99% more ahead of the game than the compulsive buyers that are all heated up about an issue they were warned about... had they bothered to read. But what the heck do I know, I'm just a consumer like you."

"Their web site says computer items ship same day. I ordered at 9am. I paid $15 for next day shipping. 2 days later the item still hasn't even shipped. I tried to contact them through their web site. No reply 24 hours after my message. No phone number on their web site. I found a phone number on a blogger's site. After they finally answered the call, they told me they had no idea when my package would ship. It could even be a third day! I asked them to refund my shipping charge and they would not. I asked to speak to a manager and they said no manager was there until noon EST because they are on PST. "

"The product that I ordered from buy.com (a scanner) was defective. I got a RMA number and shipped it back to buy.com. It took almost 1 week to get the product back to buy.com and then another 1 week for buy.com to recognize the return and create me a new order for a replacement product. And currently the replacement order still shows as 'sent to warehouse' after a couple of days.

In total 2 week plus from the date I return the product and buy.com have not even shipped the replacement product.

Buy.com have a good price but be careful if you need to return anything their process took forever. The customer service does not help very much. They only repeat what ever is written as their policy. Not helpful at all.

I would avoid this store in the future.

"I'm a new customer so I used 10% off coupon code on a Sandisk MP3 player. The order arrived in 8 days. I used the free shipping option. The product is sealed an new. The price is very low so I bought another one and used a 6% off coupon code. Just placed the order so it should arrive in 8 days. Very happy I don't need to use customer service based on all these reviews.

Update: My second order arrived in good order in 9 days. Very happy

"Purchased Palm Treo. It arrived, 2 days after being activated with carrier. It was missing software CD that Palm ships in the box. It was misconfigured. (Given the latter 2 items, I thought that it might have been a return sold as new.) Customer service said that they'd ship a CD within 7-10 business days. I told them that, since I'd paid extra for 2nd Day shipping, I expected at least that for the CD that they neglected to ship, this after my trying to convince the customer service person that, even though the CD doesn't appear on the invoice, it was "part" of the Treo, just like the data-sync cable and charger. I asked for a refund of my shipping charge. That was "escalated" to corporate. I'm still waiting. To be quite honest, I want them to ship me a new unit with me returning the one that I now have (at their expense) when the new one arrives."

"Roll a dice when you buy from them. Ordered 2 books, one came, the other did not. No communications for 2 weeks, item always listed as "in stock, ship 1-2 business day" on webpage. When I emailed them, some bot-like reply giving excuses of "in fulfillment process", "unexpected delay", and finally "manufacturer out of stock", item still listed as in stock, and every other online store also lists as in stock. Then has to "approve" my cancellation. They think customer service is a comedic act. DO NOT do any business with this bunch of morons. Saving a few bucks is NOT worth it."
