"BUY.COM A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!
On October 18th I ordered a Logitech 5000 Pro Web Cam and paid for overnight delivery. Later that day I was notified the item was on back order. Buy.Com and I exchanged several emails over the next few days.
On October 24th I was told the Web Cam was back in stock, but that no one in Buy.Com could tell me when the order might ship.
I canceled the order, but Buy.Com said there might be a delay in the cancellation process. Later I printed a cancellation confirmation from their web page.
On October 25th I Buy.Com notified me my order had shipped, and that my credit card was charged for the full amount, including the "rush" overnight shipping I requested on October 18th.
I contacted Buy.Com and was told that I could return the item, and (once the return was received by them and confirmed - a process of "several days") I would receive a refund.
Given my experience to date I question whether that would, in fact, happen.... or how long it might take.
Buy.Com was a TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!

"Terrible customer service. E-mailed me a coupon that didn't work. I couldn't E-mail customer service without an order # so used a previous order # just to contact them. Responded to my E-mail with generic comments even though the E-mail specifically detailed my problem and provided the coupon link. Responded to my follow-up reply with an E-mail inteneded for another person! Kept jerking me around via E-mail and phone until the item I wanted to order became out of stock, then said the coupon didn't apply to out of stock items! Unacceptable service."

"This is my second purchase from Buy.com. My first was a PNY SD card and this was a Logitech X-530 speaker setup. In each case, the order took a few days to ship and initial communication was a little vague, but I think I'm spoiled by some smaller merchants. In each case, I chose a free shipping option but still received my orders in just a few days. My last order arrived in two days, on a Saturday via Fedex home delivery. I don't know if this is due to Buy.com choice of shipping method or Fedex offering a service I was not familiar with, but free two-day shipping and Saturday delivery was a real surprise. The prices on both orders, by the way, were really good."

"Buy.com was one of only a few places to stock a rare wiring harness for my Nissan radio, they were also the cheapest. Order was shipped quickly, packaged well, my credit card wasn't charged until the order shipped, which was nice since many stores charge your cc right after you push the "order" button. Also included in my package was a stack of coupons for several other retailers, which I can see, will come to use in the nearest future."
"I attempted to order from Buy.com using an incentive offered by Buy.com for a $30 credit if I signed up for their credit card. The credit card approval process takes up to 4 weeks. This incentive makes no sense if you have to wait 4 weeks to order the product. Buy.com customer service would not escalate this issue and emails asking for an explanation have not been answered."
"I ordered an item on buy.com and paid it through using paypal. Paypal shows the transaction completed immediately, I assumed this product will arrive ship in 1-2 days as promised on their website. After 2 days I shoot an email to check on the status and no response. I called them at 1-***-***-**** and the rep says the payment was denied. I give him the paypal transaction ID to confirm that the transaction actually went through, he notes it down and says they will respond in 5-7 business days. Can you believe that? For an item that I was expecting to ship in 1-2 days they expect me to wait for another week just to confirm if it will go through or not.
NEVER again from buy.com!!!"
"Can not get buy.com to co-ordinate purchases with their own visa credit card. They do not respond to my emails. No phone number available. Visa appears to have no way of communicating with them either."
"I order some banana plugs and Speakers wire. When I processed the order, I hit a wrong button and order the wrong quantity. When I reliased my mistake a few hours later, I cancelled the order and emailed Customer Help. They emailed back and said they will refund in full. But when I got my bill, Buy.com did not refund in full and they charged the freight. They said they cannot cancel the order because their system cannot cope with returns. It had to be shipped!! Much to my annoyance, I had to pay for the freight back to them as well. It took about a dozen emails before they refund my money ( they claimed I used the Coupon which I NEVER Did) and they refuse to refund the freight charges and on top of that, the free return as advertised was FALSE. Buy.com charge for shipping back to them!!!
The lesson here is if you buy from Buy.com, make sure you never have to Return any products to them. The Customer services is real Bad and they do not check how much they charged your Credit card. They will email back and forth and give you all sorts of excuses."
"I have always liked buy.com because of low prices and good service. But the last two items I ordered were out of stock, and their policies and procedures are very confusing -- you may try to cancel the order but can't if the item somehow comes back into stock. Bad if you need it right away... order somewhere else and you might end up with two of the item. very confusing.
My problem is that I ordered a camera and memory card with two-day delivery. The camera then was out of stock, but they shipped the card and I paid $10.14 for delivery. I never would have ordered the card if I was not also ordering the camera. I asked for an adjustment in the shipping cost but they would not do it."
"Buy.com have always been great for me. I've never tried their customer service by e-mail, but I've called them before and found their staff to be pleasent.
Once you buy from them, they'll send you speical offers and rebates - which you can opt out of - but I've saved heaps of money by cashing in their coupons.
I've made 5 or 6 orders through Buy.com, and have recommended them to my friends. I'd happily shop there again."
"buy.com customer service is nonexistant so look out if you have a problem. i have ordered numerous products from them with good results until my most recent order that they shipped via usps which delivered my product to the wrong address according to their tracking. emails to buy.com customer service bounced even when sent from several email accounts using more than one isp. there is no number to call. I will not be purchasing from buy.com in the future: there are too many great alternatives that DO have customer service!"
"BUY.COM & I may be parting ways! The first straw was when I received my Buy.com credit card bill. You see up until the busiest month of the year (December,) my closing date had been the 6th of the month. So my account which closed on Decemeber 6th arrived on December 17th (Saturday), and instead of being due on January 6th, 2006. It was suddenly DUE ON DECEMBER 26th, 2005.
Remember that December is the busiest month of the year. There is no way that my payment could reach them by mail in time to avoid a late charge! This is what I beleive their design was from the start. You see I am one of those DEAD BEATS that the credit card companies hate. I pay my bills in full & on time every time.
After calling and BITCHING for 15 minutes they offered me a free option to do it via phone. They tried to say I was notified on my last bill about the change in billing cycles from 30 days to 20 days. Only problem is I had no charges & hence no statement last month...therefore no notification. I taped the whole conversation. It was fantastic!
Then we come to the most recent order. COMPUSA is selling the ATI PCTV PCI card for $49.99 - $20 ATI rebate. Buy.com is selling it for $65.99 - $20 ATI rebate. In there "SO CALLED" price guarentee policy they "CLAIM" to match COMPUSA's prices. However they make you purchase the item from Buy.com FIRST. They ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT TELL YOU WHETHER THEY WILL PRICE MATCH PRIOR TO THE PURCHASE! So I followed the rules I purchased it from BUY.com, within 10 minutes I submitte the Price match request. I got an email saying within 10 hours I should have a response. TICK TICK TICK...more than 24 hours later I receive a response that says b/c you got FREE SHIPPING WE WILL NOT PRICE MATCH.
Well BUY.COM has almost everything for FREE SHIPPING so let me spell that out for you. NO PRICE MATCHES!
BUT GUESS WHAT ELSE? THEY ALREADY SHIPPED THE ORDER. GREAT, IF I WASN'T WAITING FOR A PRICE MATCH. BUT $HITTY NOW BECAUSE THEY ARE GOING TO TRY & MAKE ME PAY FOR THE RETURN SHIPPING!
DOES THAT SOUND FAIR???
I LOVED BUY.COM. WHERE ELSE COULD YOU GET AN ATI ALL-IN-WONDER X800XT AGP CARD FOR $245.99 - $20 ATI MAIL-IN-REBATE? NO WHERE! UNLESS YOU HAVE CONCESSION COUPONS ETCETERA!
Instead of standing on your roof SCOTT, from BUY.com, INVEST IN SOME CUSTOMER SERVICE!

I managed to get UPS to return the tuner card but I am waiting to see if it gets credited back. I got a form letter in response to my above concerns. They did not address any of the topics.
EDIT THIS IS OLD NEWS from September 2005: I am modifying this review b/c It only lets you do one per each order you do... So let me sum up for my last eight orders from Buy.com they were awesome. Look its my favorite retailer. It offerers electronics that I like. I get their emails and get great coupons and use them often. I think the shipping has always been fast & I have yet to have a problem needing Customer service (Knock on wood). I think that the prices are the best but $$ Tax free & Shipping free is the frosting on the cake. I think about how much $$ I have waisted at other stores paying retail. I love Buy.com and recommend them to everyone looking for electronics deals. The inventory changes and clears out fast so every week or two I find new things that I want. A+++++ Retailer"
"I have placed over 30 orders through buy.com over the past few years. Overall, I've been extremely satisfied - products ship relatively quickly and very often, for free. Prices are competitive and additional coupon discounts are usually available. The online inventory system isn't perfect - it can allow orders through when there is a rush on a high demand item that goes out of stock - but that has only happened to me once. When an order is "sent to warehouse" and sits there for more than a couple of days, you might as well cancel the order."
