"compared to other online stores, buy.com's return policy needs serious improvement."
"Worst customer sevice I have ever experienced. They blatantly advertise 10% off amazon.com books. I ordered a book for $99 with free shipping (no coupons used) and amazon has the identical book for the identical price with free shipping. I requested the 10% price refund and was flat out denied. Tried explaining the situation to them (through email) 5 times with no luck. Their latest reply is "At this time, Buy.com does not have a price guarantee or policy. However, Buy.com strives toward being competitive and to maintain the lowest prices."
Their homepage clearly states they will beat amaozn by 10% on books. The stoe is unbelievable!!! Will never buy from them again!!!!"
"Avoid buy.com at all costs. Absolutely no customer service (unless you count India as customer service). My order has been stuck in "sent to warehouse" for 3 weeks with no estimate to a ship date. AVOID."
"Save yourself some stress, don't order from these theives. I got lured into buying something else from here again. When will I learn that this company sucks, and to get my things elsewhere. The prices are sometimes cheaper, but the customer service always is rock bottom. I ordered when my item stated it was in stock, and low and behold when I checked my order status, it stated that it could be 1 to 2 weeks. I emailed them and the said they couldn't give me a date. I emailed to cancel, the told me it would take a couple of days to cancel and this email didn't guarantee a cancelation. Save yourself some stress, don't order from these thieves."
"Stay away from this company. I purchased a SD card with $15 rebates. The rebate NEVER came and buy.com customer service refused to do anything."
"Be aware if you pay for 2nd day shipping, you won't get your product within 2 business days! They do count the shipping as extra days! This is a rip off and a promise they know they can't keep and don't care to keep. Speaking with customer service didn't do any good. I was holding for a manager for over 40 minutes and got disconnected - is it on purpose? One wonders. I ordered the item Friday PM and they shipped the product out of factory Monday 9:45 PM, no wonder it didn't make it 2nd day business shipping. I used to buy items at buy.com without extra shipping fees and was able to get it faster."
"Placed my order for a Sony NPFP71 Battery with free shipping and received it on Nov 17. I think that's fast enough since I opted for a free shipping that already would take time and used money order for payment that would take at least 3days just to reach them. Btw, this is my second order from them, the first one took less than 2 weeks before i got my order."
"Bought a graphics card here because it was priced great, signed up for the credit card for $30 off, got the card at about half the going rate and it was dilivered in 3 days, that was with the free shipping. Only hassle was it did not offer free shipping until I entered my ship to address, thought at first they were trying to mess with me."
"Placed an order for 2 Kingston 512mb Smart Media cards for a total of about $40. Listed our new address; CC company didn't have it updated; buy.com balked; we cleared up with the CC company and notified buy.com via email 2x. We asked for a phone number to call them 3x. Finally told them to either get this shipped or cancel but to call us immediately (gave cell # 3x). No call but an email saying they cancelled the order.
Garbage service. No follow up. Won't respond to real contact. Refused to provide a phone number. Suggest that one not use buy.com and avoid the headache's and pain."
"They shipped the wrong item to me (monitor stand instead of $300 LCD monitor) and so far I am unable to get satisfaction from their customer service department via email or telephone (I'm up to two emails and two phone calls now).
I sent them a detailed email and received back an email asking for information already provided in my email as well as other irrelevant information. I don't think anyone took the time to read my email.
I called twice (call center in India, I think). Both times, after receiving no real help from the operator, I was told "I'm sorry but there is no supervisor on the floor at this time and nothing more I can do for you."
I understand that people make mistakes but on-line companies need to provide a mechanism for customers to get satisfaction when things go wrong. Buy.com does not. I will not order anything from them in the future."
"I have never been so angry at a company as I am now. I have worked in customer service and have seen the right and wrong way to deal with customers. Buy.com does it the wrong way over and over again.
I ordered a book Gilbert Morris-Seven Golden Vials. Their web site shows it available and they will be happy to charge you for it and mail it to you, but the book that arrives is a different Gilbert Morris book called the Exiles.
What is nuts about this is I found out that Seven Golden Vials was never printed! It is the third in a series and is about the end times. The Exiles is a book about nineteenth-century New Orleans.
I emailed over and over about this. I did get my money back after receiving the wrong book twice and having to go back to the postal store. I emailed about the inaccuracies and received scripted responses that had nothing to do with my issue.
Finally I called their toll free number. Oh boy! India - you bet! They could not pronounce 'vials' or much else. I spoke to the first person for about 5 minutes, took about 10 to get her in the first place. So I asked for a supervisor and after my phone rolled over 30 minutes on the line a supposed supervisor came on the line. She started to try and bully me and before I lost it completely my husband took the phone (which had been on speakerphone the whole time) and let her have it. Funny, when she was speaking to a woman she was all bravado, but when a man got involved she suddenly became submissive. Made me want to scream!
They refused to give him the corporate office information. We were able to find it and he will be contacting them.
Also before you call the customer service number *BEWARE* the hold music is distorted, too loud and the same song over and over and over.
I will NEVER do business with buy.com again and will suggest to everyone I know to avoid them.

"I have purchased from Buy.com several times over the past 8 or 9 years. The experience has generally been acceptable, but has been deteriorating over the past few years. As long as the website options accommodate what you want to do, things generally turn out OK, but if there is a problem and the website options don't match what you want to do you are in trouble. It is very difficult to get any personal customer service. If you need to contact someone at Buy.com on the phone, good luck finding a telephone number. When you do get to speak to someone they probably won't be able to help you, and you probably won't be able to understand them very well (@#@%! foreign call centers).
All that being said, this transaction went OK. It took them a few days to finally pick and ship my "in stock" item, and by the time the tracking information was available online UPS had already delivered it. The CF card that I ordered was fine, so no complaints there.
Browsing the buy.com web site is a real pain. If you already know exactly what you are looking for, then you can search directly for the item, order it, and get on with life. However, if you want to "shop" and compare items or look at what might be available to pick from, be prepared to be frustrated. Unless you are only interested in the "hot items" that they show for their store categories you have to wade through pages of listings that are poorly categorized or have cryptic or incorrect product identification.
So, in the end, I do my "shopping" elsewhere and when I find a product I like I might try to look it up at buy.com directly to do some price comparison. But lately, I am moving on to other e-tailers."
"I had to cancel this order an hour after I placed it. I called Csutomer Service and asked them to cancel it. They said they would but it was never cancelled. The order was shipped and my credit card was charged. I returned it right way and did not receive a refund. I've been on the phone with their Customer Service several times. Its been almost a month and I'm still waiting for a refund."
"This is the second time I purchased an item from Buy.com. The first time I ordered from them I tried to type my address in the "ship to" box, but their web site would only accept 25 characters for the address. My address is 26 characters, so I left out a space between "Apt" and my appartment number. Of course they responded with an email that my address does not match what is on file with the credit card company. I wrote back three times explaining to them that the address is right except that there is a missing space bettween my appartment number and the word Apt. They didn't understand, so finally I decided to call them on the phone. However, they don't have the phonenumber publically available on their web site. I had to email them again to ask for their phone number so I could talk to them. After I got it and called them, I explained that their web site prevents me from typing my full address, but the Chinese person did not understand this. They told me to call back between 8AM and 5PM EST so that I could talk to a manager. This was very inconvenient for me since I work night shift. I did call them back the next day about it and after talking to three different managers, they finally understood that my address was correct and their web site sucks. In total it took 23 days from the time I ordered the LCD until I recieved it.
This time I ordered a stereo from Buy.com. They shipped it out in two days, and it was supposed to arrive 3 days after that. The arrival date came, but the stereo did not. I checked the FedEx tracking number, and it said that the package was delivered at 2:30pm. It said on the FedEx website, "Package left on doorstep. Shipper did not request signature." I checked the door at 4:30pm and it was not there. I asked my neighbors, and they said
they saw the FedEx guy leave the package, but they didn't know what happened after that. So after asking all the people in my appartment complex and the apartment manager, it has become clear that due to Buy.com's crappy policies my stereo was stolen before I got it. I've filed a missing shipment report. If they don't fix this, I'm going to dispute the charge with my credit card company. It was buy.com's fault for telling FedEx they could just leave the package whereever without anyone to recieve it.
Update: After contacting Buy.com and explaining the situation to them, they said they would investigate it. They sent me a replacement of my order. It took way to long to get this straightened out. I still will never buy from them again.
In summary I WILL NEVER EVER BUY SOMETHING FROM BUY.COM AGAIN!"
"Purchased a computer part from Buy.com using a $10 Off coupon. The item featured Free Shipping. For over a week “Sent to Warehouse” showed in the order status, so I contacted Buy.com to cancel my order. Two days later they cancelled ONLY the $10 Off coupon, and shipped the item. I emailed them regarding this and they promised to investigate.
After another week, and many emails from me, Buy.com refused to honor the $10 coupon. They said that the Free Shipping was a “Special Promotion”, which could not be used in conjunction with any coupons. It is conspicuous that their coupons do not mention, “Cannot be used with Free Shipping”. Even shadier is the fact that the Free Shipping terms page makes no mention of this either. But what really stands out, and shows their true colors, is the fact that their system will actually allow the coupon to be applied in the first place with Free Shipping. Why allow it in the first place?
Buy.com does this so that they can then remove the coupon at the last minute, and you pay full price. An honest seller would not remove a coupon after 9 days (as they did to me), just as the item ships.
They use classic bait and switch to sucker customers in with low prices, and then use whatever dishonest means available to trick their customers out of extra money. AVOID IF POSSIBLE, OR USE EXTREME CAUTION WITH BUY.COM.
