"I've wasted too much time trying to get my refund from them for the past 4 weeks to waste anymore breath talking about this horrific store. Suffice it to say, this store is at the bottom of the heap, after being my primary source of internet purchases for many years. AVOID THIS SCAMHOLE like the plague. I also tried to cancel an order via their web site, and after a week, they are still unable to do so. NEVER BUY FROM BUY.COM. EVER> You have been warned. This place is the worst."
"Wow-- previous reviewer was right about this place going downhill compared to a few years ago. I ordered two CF cards and only received one. Both my online order info and the "Master Packing List" indicate that both cards should have been in the same package. Mine too was just the retail package inside a slightly padded envelope, and the envelope was still well sealed so this was a warehouse packing error.
Read that some folks got the "message undeliverable" response to their form request for help-- at least they got some sign it had been received! My thanks to the person who posted the phone number; at least the "Customer Service" person could see that I'd submitted a claim about the order. She corrected some claim information for me (not that I can tell from the website), but as the form online tells you-- "7-14 business days..." to get a response. I asked if there was any way to expedite the process and she just quoted the 7-14 days again. I asked about changing the claim to a request for a partial refund on that order and just submitting another order for the second card, and she said I could do that but it would still take 7-14 days for the refund request to be processed.
In less than 14 days I'll be out of the country. Guess I'll have to buy the card I wanted elsewhere and see if I end up getting the other one at some point. I'll be giving other sites my business in the future... like ones that have posted phone numbers and account contacts. :-/ "
"This is NOT the store it used to be! Customer service has been outsourced and is now TOTALLY non-responsive. It takes legal action to get a refund/credit for returned merchandise, even after getting an RMA and following their rules exactly. They STILL have $175 of my money and no sign of returning it, AND I am out the merchandise after returning it. I don't know where the other guy found the phone number, but there was none to be found on the buy.com website or in ANY of the info we had from them. All I get to my inquiries is a politely worded, computer generated, form saying they are processing whatever I am asking for. They don't even bother to connect the form letter with anything you say and there is NO followup action. EVER. I will NEVER buy from them again, after being a loyal customer for years."
"I've purchased over $30,000 in computer equipment and supplies from buy.com in past years. I've never had any trouble with them or the merchandise I've ordered. The last purchase confirmation I received from them had a support phone number... ***-***-****. A few months ago I received some items I did not order from them... clothing and inkjet cartridges... Opened a box and a cockroach was very glad to jump out of the box. Buy.com said to just throw these items (and cockroach) away, not return them. Problems others are seeing with buy.com are probably caused by the companies/warehouses they partner with... but still buy.com's problem to fix. If you are missing your clothing, ink cartridges, and pet roach, let me know."
"It has taken this company over two months to ship a product that was "In Stock". They keep sending me e-mail saying it is backordered with no anticipated time of shipment. The customer service team was horrable to deal with. I asked them for another phone number for someone who could tell me the status of my order and all they would do is repeat the same line about my order being backordered.
Don't use their e-mail because it will bounce back. Not sure who their Managment team is but they should find jobs they are more suited for, like working at the DMV."
"Merchandise not received after 15 days. 1) Use their tracking facility: "No record of that number" 2) Use their web form to contact cust. svc.: Mail is returned as undeliverable. 3) They refuse to post a phone number on the website. If you want to buy from Buy.com, be prepared to have absolutely no recourse, no options, no contact and no product.
10/18 update: After 27 days, received autoresponder email from an IP in New Delhi telling me that I have to allow 10-13 days for shipping. Does anyone have a rating lower than theirs (1.8)??

"Not happy. Entered my order on 10/5/2004 for a Lexar 80x 2Gb Compact Flash card using FedEx Ground shipping. The next day the order showed up in Buy.com as Shipped at 00:31 on 10/6/2004 and it gave me a FedEx tracking number. When I checked FedEx with the tracking number is shows up as "Package data transmitted to FedEx; package not in FedEx possession" and and estimated delivery date of 10/8/2004. Ok, I figured that their FedEx pickup isn't until later that day.
The following day, 10/7/2004 I'm checking the FedEx site and it still shows up as "Package data transmitted to FedEx; package not in FedEx possession" with an estimated delivery date of 10/8/2004 which is tomorrow. Now that seems a bit odd for FedEx Ground so I decided to send Customer Service an Email.
I used the Buy.com Help form to send and Email to Customer Service. A few hours later the message gets bounced back to me as undeliverable. So much for the "Customer Service". I guess I'll just cross my fingers and hope for the best.
Update 10/8/2004:
The card arrived today on schedule. It was in good condition but I was not entirely happy with the way it was packed. The retail box was just placed in a thin, padded envelope with no additional protection. No damage but it seems like the packaging could have been a bit better. The lack of usefull tracking until just before the package arrived was less than I would have expected from a top line online retailer. But, other than that and the problem with emailing customer service that I mentioned above, the purchase went well."
"Avoid this company like the plague. They do not inform you if an item is on backorder. Their e-mail assistance system bounces your e-mail back to you, it's broken like the rest of the company. They don't forecast when or if you'll ever receive your order. You can't contact them to cancel the order because it's "sent to the warehouse", but they have no stock so why not agree to cancelling the order. They are a horrid vendor."
"I have used Buy.com in 2002 with no problem, thought I would try again.
Ordered a KVM switch and cable in August, good price, received with no problem. Ordered a 1 GB Sandisk Ultra 2 compact flash card in September for $140 again good price and received with no problem. Ordered a 2GB Sandisk Ultra 2 for $150 after I noticed a great price on it, again received with no problem.
Now I tried to return the 1GB card, followed the procedure of getting an RMA and returned within 1 week of receiving it. To date almost 4 weeks later I have not been credited. Buy.com only has email customer service. The first email went unanswered, the second was an automated response. Turned matter over to credit card company due to no refund on returned merchandise.
Also note they use USPS shipping which is slower than UPS or FedEx and tracking on USPS is a joke, you can’t get the status until after the item is delivered.

"The reseller rating reflects the attitude of the people running the company. It may not too much exaggerate to say that Buy.com is probably the worst online retailer. They have no respect to its customers. They cancel orders without any notice and reasons. They insists sending the items to you if you want to cancel it, and cancel items if you want to keep it.
This time I bought an item that was advertized on their website. It is a good deal after mail-in-rebate. You know what, they cancel the order without any reason. I believe they intentionally use the "bait and switch" fraud to attract buyers to their site. Just keep away from them. "
"Ordered a CF card and within a couple of hours, I realized I had the wrong shipping address. I notified their customer "support" via email that the item was shipping to the wrong address and asked that it be changed. Received an email the next day indicating that they could not change the shipping address. So, I attempted to cancel the order. However it shipped the following day and my card was charged. Don't expect any changes from these guys after you submit an order."
"I purchased a Sandisk 512MB Memory Stick Pro Duo from Buy.com. I found that this item was not compatible with my new Sony DCR-HC85 Camcorder. I also found, using Google, that other people had the same problem.
Wne I contacted Buy.com with this information, they gave me an RMA number, provided me with a paid UPS label and refunded the full amount that I paid.
That's great customer support."

"Order placed 9/13. Its now 10/3 and I have not received my item.
They said my product would ship in 5 days, but then informed me that the product was actually on backorder and would take at least two week, although they indicated the item was in stock.
When the finally received the item they weren't thoughtful enough to overnight it to me and so I still wait... 3 weeks later.
I've also noticed that since placing my order I get a ton of spam email. "
