"Ordered a Kingston 128mb USB drive with a mail in rebate at a good price, few days later after having 'sent to warehouse' status I got email that the item was shipped and even gave me a tracking number. Few hours later my ordered was marked "cancelled". With no email, or reason why this order was cancelled.
I even called the CSR a day before to make sure the item was to be shipped out and soon and he said yes and that everything was fine. Although he was hard to understand (probably because they offshore their CSR).
Buy.com sucks end of story.
**UPDATE**
Recieved an email stating they will give me 5 dollars off my next KINGSTON purchase, only expires in a month, BUT it can not be combined with any other purchase...
So... they will give 5 dollars, and I will use then, and then have to pay $5.07 for the next shipping (since you can't get free shipping with the coupon). WOW! Way to rip me off BUY.com
DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM "
"Cancelled order without even a phone call or email explaining the situation or even that my order was cancelled. Only found out because I went to track it to find when the product would be delivered."
"This is the second time I have had bad business with Buy.com. 10 months back, they failed to sent me $50 mail-in-rebate for a digital camera (mind you, this was a Buy.com rebate and NOT a manufacturer rebate), after satisfying all the rebate formalities.
Now, despite being personally affected by Buy.com once, I went ahead and placed my order for USB flash drive thinking that Buy.com may have changed their business practices. Once again, after collecting CC number, address, telephone number, my order was cancelled citing no reasons watsoever. Can any company be worse than this? To top all that, they dont have customer support number explicitly on their website? Ever wondered why? Getting Buy.com's customer service number is really difficult and even if you get, you end up giving information when you talk with them.
As a final word, accepted at times, you may get some goods at cheaper prices at Buy.com when compared with other places. But, do you want to save $1 or $2 by risking $50? STAY OUT OF BUY.COM FOR YOUR OWN GOOD!!!
A TOTALLY DISSATISFIED CUSTOMER OF BUY.COM"
"I love buy.com I'll tell you why there are some bad ratings. look at those from today 9/22. several "bargain" sites are advocating their users spam buy.com's rating because the sites themselves posted an excellent (near free) deal on kingston memory cards which got sold out BECAUSE the deal sites featured them!
Guys were buying these buy the hundreds and now compalin they got sold out! You have to be a schmuck to got to a "deal" site, see an item for next to free yet complain when it goes out of stock
now a bunch of babies are complaining!. Big deal. stop whining. yes it was an excellend deal. people who bought on the first day got the item (I did). but if a million people place an order for something that ends up beign free they should not be screaming "I got robbed" when then never were charged and obviously the item would have sold out!
buy.com is a great retailer, just becasue they won't sell a million memory cards for free and cut their own throats, doesn;t make them bad."
"Very disappointed with the order. Very bad customer service.
Will not depend on this seller for my any needs.
"
"Cancelled my order without authorization or a clear explanation. The standard jargon. You shouldn't advertise and accept orders that you do not intend on filling. Now they got my email and sopamming me with your "so-called" sales. Give me a break and take me off your spamming list..."
"The last two orders I placed with Buy.com were cancelled by them. They were for items that were advertised as in stock and on sale. I emailed Buy.com six times about one order and never received an explanation. For the second order, Buy.com tried to blame the problem on their supplier. However, Buy.com should not list items they can't deliver. They continued to list it as instock for a day after I placed my order. They used to be very reliable but now they aren't! I have been shopping with them since they opened but won't buy there again!"
"Same thing happened to me as everyone else has been commenting on. Got confirmation email, but no other emails about cancellation. Found out order was cancelled by going on their website. Hopefully they will not charge my credit card. This was Buy.com's second chance and they messed up again. Buy.com won't be having any of my business again."
"Buy.com processed credit card successfully then cancelled order with no explanation. No notification of any kind - no e-mail, nothing. Had to check status on their web site."
"Ordered two items. Both items cancelled. No notification. Credit card charged. Disgraceful behavior.
UPDATE: Buy.com apologized and supplied a limited use $5 coupon. There was a lot of unhappy customers with this specific deal and I think they were obliged to mitigate the disaster. I still don't like the way they do business but I have ordered stuff from them since. Unlike Amazon, free shipping is really slow."
"Order placed on 9/18/2004 and status showed sent to warehouse. Today status shows cancelled, no email notification at all. Horrible service, will never shop there again."
"This 'company' sucks. Couple years ago I did ok with them. Seems like in the last 6 months they have gone to hell. I will not do any more purchasing again."
"Buy on 9/18/2004 and wait for shipping. Cancelled 9/21 without any notice email or an explanation. Very very bad business practice."
"Ordered product on 9-18-04 on 9-20-04 Buy.com website had my order in shipping then on 9-21-04 I checked order status my order was cancelled! No email no notice! Poor customer service!"
"Dealing with Buy.com is one the worst online shopping experiences. I placed an order for a book that was listed on their website as in stock, and my card was charged on the same day. The order was showing in progress for seven days. When I called Buy.com at ***-***-****, an outsourced customer service representative informs me that the item is backordered and he doesn't know whether it will ever be in stock. So they charged my card and they did not even know whether they will ever ship the item."
