"Glad that I am not the only one who is happy with this company after seeing so many negative comments. Buy.com did very good job to fullfill my order and the price is just great!
I've ordered fron Buy.com before and never had any problem. However, I hesitaed to order more when I saw a lot of bad comments recently. At last I ordered some toners but soon found out that I ordered the wrong one. I called Buy.com customer service and as everyone indicated, the CSRs are all speaking English with Indian accent but not too bad. They were nice and helped me cancel my order right away, and it showed cancelled at web a few minutes later(my cc was never charged for this). I also requested cancel order from the web and they replied my email next day to cancel them. Since I used $10 off $75 coupon which is one time use only, when I placed the order again, I couldn't use it anymore. I called them again, explained to them what happened. They happily sent me a gift certificate of $10 right away which I applied to my second order.
I ordered at Aug. 8th, status changed to 'Sent' with tracking number along with an email to tell me items being sent at Aug. 11th. 7 days later, I got my order, everything is in good shape and be as what expected, not a single problem. Shipping is a little slow since the free shipping using USPS ground service but not bad.
Also notice that my credit card was charged only after the order was shipped.
I have to say Buy.com is still a great online superstore!"
"They used to be a fast and reliable service but now they seem to gone downhill. I ordered the product on August 3rd and they did not process it for a whole week later! By then I found the items I ordered to be cheaper at newegg.com and I sent a request to cancel the order while it was still processing. For the next 3 days, I heard no response from them about it. Then out of the blue they email me about a my order has been shipped. Not only that, I had a coupon for $10 off of my order and they cancelled that instantly before shipping my package out! They did not even want to give me that $10 off after I emailed them, so I returned the package to them. I had to send back one of my items with my own money to return it for a refund! Their return policy is such a pain that I gave up sending the other item to them. I would not shop here if you want fast shipping.
Update:
The people at buy.com heard about this review and decided to give me $10 credit for my hassel. They also gave me my refund within a few weeks after they recieved my return item. But that $10 credit was not worth the effort I had to go through for my refund. They have good customer service, they do not like unsatisfied customers. I would recommend this company if you like good customer service and if you're not in a hurry for your package."
"I ordered a set of PC speakers on August 2nd, 2004. They listed as in stock, and the status of my order went to stage 2 of 3, "sent to warehouse" aprox. 30 minutes after I ordered. A day later they lowered the price by .50 and still listed the item as in stock. By Aug. 9th (the following monday), my order still had not shipped, the item was still listed as "in stock" on their webpage, so I emaled them. They said the order would be sent soon. 2 days later the item listed as "on order" on my order status page. My item finally shipped at 5pm on Aug. 13th. I find it very unprofessional to list an item as in stock for over a week, when it actually is on order from their supplier. They were able to lower the price of the item to draw in more orders, yet they couldn't update their in stock listing to on order for 9 days! 11 days to ship something is not what anyone expects when ordering an "in stock" item. Not only did they list something as in stock when it wasn't, their email support didn't say it was on order, they told me it was sent to the warehouse and would ship soon. Overall, I am very unimpressed with Buy.com as they were dishonest with me and their other customers who ordered this item."

"I am so surprised at all the dissatified reviews this company gets because they have almost always impressed me. I've never had to deal with customer service (which I heard is awful), but many times I've order an item in the morning and get it the very next day (regular shipping)."
"Purchased 1GB sandisk. No problem with product but Buy.com purchase experiance leaves much to be desired.
Ordered because product was listed IN-STOCK and ships within a day. After ordering, the product status was listed at WAREHOUSE (which means it was waiting to be filled).
After a week at this status, I placed inquirely with no response (even thought the claimed I would within 24 hours).
Finally I tried to cancel. I got a notice that it could take up to 72 hours to get confirmation of cancel. They also noted that if it shipped anyway I could return (they didn't mention the stocking fee and shipping I'd have to eat). Sounds like this is a way that they eliminate cancelations. THey just ship anyway and make it your problem and expense to return.
several days later I got a notice that my product had shipped (several days after I cancelled).
What is really annoying is that I originally paid for overnight delivery (which I would have never done if I had known it was going to take a week to ship an in stock item.
First time I've had a problem with an eRetailer.
Usually I end up going through a reputable company (which I thought Buy.com was) and am willing to pay a little more. This was a mistake.

"I ordered three items on Aug 2. All items showed a 1-2 day ship time. The order immediately changed status to "Sent to Warehouse". On Aug 6 the order had not been shipped and one of the items changed status to "On Order". I assumed (correctly) that this probably meant that buy.com would not ship any of my order until they recieved the out of stock item. So I canceled the order on Aug 6 figuring I could make the purchase at a slightly higher price from a more responsive company. Buy.com says that they can not guarantee that a cancellation will go through until 2-3 days after it is requested. I took this to mean they would try to get the order out rather than accept the cancelation so I waited before I ordered replacement products. On Aug 12 (6 days after I canceled the order) one of the items shipped. On Aug 13 the other two items shipped.
I guess I will have to wait and see how their RMA process is. I have started the process for the two items I have recieved so far. I will RMA the other one when it gets here.
This all brings back memories of why I swore I would never buy from this company again the last time I ordered from them 3 years ago. I will remember my lesson longer this time.
The prices are good (not great but good) but for the horrible service the small savings just isn't worth the hassle. "
"My worst online shopping experience to date. Placed an order for a graphics card on 8/9/04 and utilized a $15 off online coupon (buy.com claimed item was in stock at time of order). When my item still hadnt shipped by morning of 8/12/04 (item still showed in stock on webpage), I decided to give them a call. CSR was useless in helping me and basically told me that item is in backorder and she has no clue when they will ship. So fearing the worst, I went back to the webpage and cancelled my order...item immediately went into "cancellation requested" stage.
That evening (8/12/04) I got an email saying that my order was cancelled. When i went back into the orderdetails the next day, saw that they had only cancelled my coupon and shipped my graphics card. WTF?!?
So not only do they keep me in the dark for 3 days, ship my order after I cancelled it, but they only cancel half my order...the coupon...the part that would benefit them!! What a bunch of crooks. I will NEVER shop at buy.com ever again and will tell all my friends to stay away from them also!
Just checked my CC bill...they charged me $290...item was supposed to be $275 shipped. I just refused shipment of the item. Lets see how long it takes buy.com to refund me my money. AND oh yeah, I spoke to a CSR called SONYA and she told me I will be refunded ALL my money, including cost of shipping. Lets see how true that statement is!"
"Placed an order the last week of June and found out by myself after a week (by going into My Account at Buy.com) that my order was on back order. I decided to cancel my order. I paid by personal check and my check was cashed the following week after I ordered my item. I asked for a refund but it has been 6 weeks already and nobody has responded to my request. So as of right now I lost $25 from Buy.com. Next time if there is a next time, I will pay by credit card."
"Stay away from buy.com. Like other reviews, I ordered an item and after it was not shipped for 5 days, I emailed their customer service. I come to find out my item is on backorder, after the website said the item was in stock since I placed my order. I cancelled the item, then a week later I received an email saying my order had shipped. Now I have to refuse shipment from the carrier or request an RMA# and pay for the shipping back to buy.com. Do not buy from them. They said they would try their best to cancel the order before it shipped, but I guess a week is not long enough for their best effort. Slow shipping and processing on other items I purchased previously and all you get from customer service is automated emails with the same information you can find on their website."
"I ordered a router combo from them since they had the cheapest price I placed an order on a monday by wednesday it still hadn't showed any progress, so I cancelled it and ordered one from Newegg. (got here in two days) by then it now had moved to processed. 2.5 weeks later my "cancelled" order is shipped. I'm awaiting UPS to tell them to send that stuff back to where it came from... hell.
I hope I don't have a lot of problems getting a credit back on my card. I'm just another person saying buy.com sucks a big one."
"Ordered on August 4th. Advertised as "in stock - ships in 1-2 business days." Friend said they were reliable copmany, on par with newegg or amazon. He must have been referring to the old buy.com and not the one represented by the recent reviews here. Two days after my order, the product was placed "on order" with no known date of procurement for the product. A week, later, it is "currently unavailable." Now I realize how they can advertise such low prices. Order from this company with caution would be my adivce."

Placed the order on 8/7, next day checked the status in "My Account" and said "Sent to Warehouse." Today is 8/15, and after a few emails with their customer service, it turns out the item is on back order (the product page showed "In Stock: Ships in 1-2 days" when I placed the order. I requested to cancel the order and they emailed the following: "Please remember
that this is a request only, and your order still may ship while this request is being processed.
You'll receive an email confirming or denying the cancellation request for this order within the next few business days."
Well, I am leaving on vacation for two weeks tomorrow, so no one will be receiving the package, if they ever send it.
My opinion: Unreliable company, and although I bought a couple of other times from them before, I will not give them my business anymore. The rating shows their credibility fairly well - consider it!

"As the owner of a small business, I purchase $30,000 to $40,000 worth of merchadise a year at Buy.com, and until recently, have been mostly pleased with the transactions (only an occasional problem, which was normally quickly resolved). However, in the last 2 months, they have delayed shipping and misrepresented stock/order status consistently, and their response time for customer support by email has slipped from 12 hours to over 48 hours (although they now advertise a "1 business day" response time). Used to be you could order an instock item 1 day, pay for overnight shipping, and bank on having it the next day. Now you pay for overnight shipping and if you are lucky, get it 3 days later. I am so fed up with items that are advertised as "ships in 1 to 2 days" taking 3 to 4 days to get to the shipper, that I have removed them from my approved vendors list. With the sudden increase of negative reviews on this site (as well as others) for Buy.com, they won't be around much longer. They are experiencing a customer service implosion."
