"We purchased a video capture card. It hasn't shipped for almost a week. We tried to cancel a few days later, and it cancelled only the DVD drive. They call it a partial cancellation.
I contacted them today and they don't know where our order is, and they won't cancel for a few days. I found their customer service number and it was scripted. They don't even respond to our e-mails directly. All canned responses. We will NEVER buy from them again.

"Same as everyone else. I thought the idea of a business was to sell items to customers. Buy.com has perfected the art of offering merchandise that can't actually be bought. They are either harvesting email addresses to pay the bills, or they are going down the tubes. I hope it's the latter, but withas bad as Buy.com is it is probably the former. Avoid this merchant!!"
"Good prices don't matter if you can never get the items shipped!
Buy.com just keeps getting worse and worse. Items advertised as "in stock" and "1-2 days for shipment" end up stagnating at the "sent to warehouse" stage, never to be sent. To make matters worse, you don't receive status updates, they blame suppliers (for items that they listed as in stock!), etc.
I don't have time for their poor customer service habits. I will gladly pay more elsewhere so that I can be confident that I will actually receive an order."

All you get is some poor guy half a world away in India(they outsource their customer support of course)who has been scripted to say: I'm very sorry....I'm very sorry... In my case, I got shafted the same way as most everyone else here...Ordered item online which indicated "In Stock and will ship in 1-2 business days"....no email status, no shipment 8 days later. A check online showed order status "Sent to Warehouse". Had to dig for customer support number, which got me a guy in India, which understandly has no idea what went wrong other than a scripted response...I asked him to cancel the order, which he responded with "I can only REQUEST that the order be cancelled, you will find out in three business days if it's approved"...I was at a loss for words!!!!...the even sadder thing is I'm not even counting on getting this email in 3 days...THEY SHOULD RENAME THEIR COMPANY TO BYE.COM!!!!!!!!"

Processing (authed my card), Sent to warehouse. Both items were listed as "In-stock" which means they should ship within 1-2 biz days. Four biz days later I called. There was a "Techincal delay" with my order, but all the items are in stock. Un-authed my card. Next day all items are "On Order" yet the site still lists them as in-stock. Canceled order, went to newegg.com which is where I should have started."

Buy.com had a major problem with outsourcing years back that ended up getting a lot of bad press. My prior negative review was based on that time when the company operations completely failed for a period of time and orders where held in limbo, but I think those problems are behind them. They don't have the best prices or selection anymore, but I would still buy from them because they ship quickly to PA, their prices are reasonable, and they have a decent selection. "
"My experience was similar to the others. I ordered on 7/26/04 and it said it would ship in 1-2 business days. After several days of showing "Sent to Warehouse" it would show as "On Order" after clicking through "Sent to Warehouse". I received no response to an email. It was finally shipped on 8/6/04. There was no useful tracking information available until today when it arrived even now the tracking information hasn't been updated. The item has shown as in-stock with shipping in 1 or 2 business days the entire time. I will never again use buy.com."
"My recent adventure of Buy.Com and my warning to all that deal with them.
In the past I have purchased from buy.com and have had no problems that would make me drift away from them, but recently on august 2, 2004, I placed a order for a Nikon 2200 series digital camera. The item was stated IN STOCK and ready to ship within 1-2 days. The price was very good and it offered free shipping. Even though I have used their shipping in the past and found it somewhat slow I was willing to wait the 5-7 days for it to come across the USA.
I placed my order on the 2nd and item was processed and then was in the status of: SENT TO WAREHOUSE, I figured great it will soon ship and within a week I got it, well I really got it from them.
On the 4th 2 days later I called Buy.com and asked if the item would ship , the lady on the phone who's name was Amanda who could barely speak English, told me it would definitely ship today and would be in shipped status with hours, I left thinking great.
By the end of the third day I emailed Buy.com and more or less got a I'm sorry response but the item was delayed but would be shipped today, yes again.
Again I waited, the next day I called Buy.com and spoke with a someone in customer service and asked why is it 4 days and my item still shows SENT TO WAREHOUSE ? She said, she was again sorry but this was out of there control and this does happen. I said Ok enough is enough , Please cancel My Order since you cannot ship my item or know when it will ship, so that I can go somewhere else and buy it.
The cancellation order was placed and my order then went into PENDING CANCELLATION status.
Well I had to call again and this time I asked if the person that I was speaking to was in the USA since I could hardly understand them, they said NO. Sounded like from India to me, well I asked her why did I cancel my order and it is now is PENDING CANCELLATION status for so long ,,, She then told me it could take up to 3 to 7 days to cancel my order. I asked her if she was nuts more or less and then asked to speak to a supervisor. The supervisor came on the phone and said the cancel status was placed and I would have to wait. I told him you will just ignore this and ship them item out,. He then said well if the item gets shipped to me then I can always refuse it, I told him that would not be possible since it will be shipped USPS and they will just leave it at the mailbox so therefore I would have to reship it back.
He agreed, I also told him this was a joke. keep in mind that they charged my Credit Card with the charges and even though it was not officially charged, it did lock up my money by placing it in PENDING STATUS , this would stay like this for 10 days and the 11th day they funds would be released.
After threatening to write to the FTC and attorney general and others he said he would do his best.
Well after about 6 hours I got a email saying the item was Finally CANCELLED, great now unfortunately they will not release the pending charge so I will have to wait till the 10 days expires to get it back automatically.
I ordered my camera from Newegg.com and received via FedEx with NO problems in 3 days. Thanks Newegg! You packaged my item and sent it to me faster then buy.com could get it sent to the warehouse and didn't play around and lie to me like they did.
If your planning on buying a item online from BUY.COM,....DON'T! regardless of the price, you will regret it. There service has turned for the worst and will soon be in the same area that Enron is in, IN THE GUTTER!
Be fore warned, Buy.Com will make you have the worst online buying experience! DON'T USE THEM.

"They have no customer service number. They promised to respond to me (by e-mail) within 24 hours and it took 3 days. The item was supposed to ship in 1-2 days and it took 2 weeks. After it didn't ship for 5 days I told them to cancel my order. They said they could only put in a request to cancel and that I would be notified about whether or not it would be canceled. A week and a few days later I get a notice that my item was shipped.
THIS COMPANY DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!"
