"Buy.com are a bunch of crooks. Please avoid this store if you want to save your hard earned money. They sent me an item which was dead on arrival. I send them an email to customer service about it and send the item back for replacement. So far (Over 3 weeks now)they claim, they have not got the broken peice. And they cannot send a replacement till they get it. My mistake was not sending it with a return reciept and offcourse dealing with these crooks. They dont list their customer service number either. What a sham. Some one should report and lockup these crooks."
"Something is seriously wrong with this company. Back in May I ordered a ATI X800 Pro. Long story short, they would not honor the price on the card because they made a pricing error. Their policy is not to honor price mistakes. I wouldn't have a problem with that but they ran me around for a couple weeks with e-mails and phone calls to finally come clean on why they weren't sending the video card.
On the final call I made regarding that video card I made sure to ask if the gift certificate and discount coupon I had used on that order would be honored on my next order even though the coupon by this time had expired. They made a note on my account that it would be honored. They told me to call after my credit card was charged on my next oder to claim the discount coupon and get a credit applied.
In July I saw they had the PNY 6800 GT for sale. I placed the order. The gift certificarte worked no problem. Turns out they didn't have enough of the card to honor my order, so they placed it on back order. A few weeks later I got my card. I called up the CSRs to claim my 10% coupon and get a credit to my card. The guy I talked to said the coupon had expired and he could not apply it. I told him to look through the notes on the order. He verified that the note had been made but there was still nothing he could do. I asked him to put someone on the phone who could. He told me there was no one there who could give me a credit. I asked to speak to his supervisor, even though he told me his supervisor could do nothing. I wait on hold for a while before he comes back on the line and tells me that a credit will be processed the following week. Fine. Two weeks later still no credit. So I'm guessing he was just having me on. However this finally plays out I will never buy from these people again. The management overseeing the CSRs are doing such a poor job they might as well just turn the phone system off. "
"Item shown as "in stock" on web page, placed order. Nothing heard for 3 days, so asked customer service, was told "on backorder". Web page still showed "in stock". Customer service told me to cancel order. When I did, got email saying "can't cancel, item is on backorder". Will not shop with them any more, they used to be so good!"

When contaced they write back that we will give you this much credit in your new order. Who is going to place the new order.

"I purchased a cell phone and a service contract on August 6th. As of today it still shows up as being "sent to warehouse" on the order status screen. My emails are ignored, the customer service reps in India cannot be understood and the customer service reps at the specialized cell phone order number listed at buy.com site can find no record of my order. I contacted my credit card company and the purchase was sent to them for approval the same day I ordered but not yet finalized. The handle has already been pulled on this company don't order anything from them and get flushed along with them."
"Ordered an item from Buy.com on 7/21/04 and was listed as in stock on their website. I chose Buy.com because they had a $10 off coupon for new customers which gave them the best price on the item. (I had used them about 5 years ago with no problems). When checking my order online, I noticed that after 2 days it said "sent to warehouse" which is supposed to be the last step before shipping. Received an email on 7/25 saying "Still Looking". When I responded to this e-mail and asked them what the problem was, I was informed the product was on backorder (7/27)(still showed available on their website). I then went to their website and clicked the cancel link to cancel the order. Received an email the same day saying that the order had been cancelled. (Later I noticed that they apparently cancelled the $10 off coupon and not the item itself). I was then out of town for the next three days and came home to find the buy.com order sitting on my porch. Checked e-mail to find that they had shipped it on the same day that the order had been cancelled. Sent email to return on 8/1, on 8/11 they responded and did give a prepaid UPS to send the package back. Package arrived back on 8/18, today is 8/25, no credit to card yet. AVOID BUY.COM AT ALL COSTS!!!
UPDATE: Buy.com finally credited my account on 9/7. Total of about 6 weeks they kept my money for their mistake. However for you unlucky people who are still having problems with them I was able to get a customer service number to speak with someone (pretty sure it is in India) 1-***-***-****. Open 7am-7pm MT Mon-Fri and 8am-12pm Saturday. Don't expect much help from them though."

"Ordered a CF card on 7/16/04. Was sitting in "Processing" status for 10 days although they claimed on the order page that it usually shipped in "1 to 2 business days". Was not interested in waiting that long, made SEVERAL calls (Indian call center) and online requests to CANCEL within the time span of a few days between 7/21 and 7/23. I also went ahead and purchased the card elsewhere.
On 7/26 they finally decided to ship after NO LESS THAN 4 ORDER CANCELLATIONS. Ridiculous. I will stick to reputable dealers like Amazon and Newegg rather than put up with this kind of headache."
"Bad customer service. Only positive is that they were very quick to respond... in giving me the runaround.
First the mfg # differed from the description they were giving. When asked which was correct, they replied:

How does that tell me which product they are selling? It doesn't. I know I may be kicking a dead horse, but the mfg link they gave me was also wrong.
So I told them that was unacceptable and to cancel my order immediately. I would repurchase when they responded to my original question. They gave me this wonderfully helpful response:

They still have not responded to me yet, but I cancelled via another method on their web-site. However *after* updating their web-site to reflect the lower model number, they replied to another buyer with this:
"We would like to inform you that according to our records there
is an item " Jaton NVidia GeForce 6800 128DDR RGB/TV/DVI/AGP8X
- 3DFORCE6800" for the SKU#10374875.
We have also checked on the manufacturer's site. According to
that, the item is listed as "3DForce 6800 (New)" instead of
"Jaton Nvidia 6800 GT".
On my receipt it was still listed as "Jaton NVidia GeForce 6800 GT 256DDR RGB/TV/DVI/AGP8X
- 3DFORCE6800
Lastly, they went in and altered my on-line receipt.
False advertising, horrible CS and either bad internal company communication or a coverup to boot.
Don't buy from Buy.com."
"Order placed 8/2/04. Order cancelled 8/3/04. Package shipped 8/13/04. Package received 8/16/04. Complaint filed 8/17/04. As of 8/21/04, I am still trying to resolve the issue via poor email system.
The order was for a wireless router/pcmcia package. The cardboard box is actually sitting, unopened, about 10 ft away from me. I found it much more convenient to drive to Circuit City and pricematch individual routers and wireless gear to Staples' fliers. In the end, it was also cheaper that way. (After tax and mileage.)"

"I have been a customer at Buy.com since 2000 and bought tons of stuff from them. Back then, they were good. Lately I've heard so many bad things from them, but since my previous orders went smoothly, I didn't really care about bad reviews.
I placed an order on August 18th 2004, the Kingston 512MB compact flash card and Sandisk 8-in-1 reader. Today August 20th, the UPS delivered it, I was like: "wow, that was fast". Then after opening the box, there is NO Kingston CF card, only 8-in-1 reader. The packing slip says that Total quantity shipped is 2, and clearly listed the CF card on it. I was like: "what the hell is going on?".
Alrite, so I called them, note that I had hard time find their phone so I had to search on Google. Called them, the girl says I have to wait 13 days to claim the missing item. I even more upset because she says that item might arrive in the next 13 days. How on earth the item will arrive when the packing slip says that I got both items? I finally got to talk to supervisor, and she told me that she would make exeption and respone to my case after 2-3 days.
Anyway, I'm waiting for their reply, today is Friday already so I won't probably get any reply until next week's Wed. But I was very disappointed, I felt like I got robbed of the item. I would NEVER buy from them again.
Updated 8/30/2004. Turned out the seperate package has shipped the day after via US mail. But there was no reply via email whatoever about the situation like the supervisor had said."
