"Just wanted to add a note about my experience with buy.com. I ordered a Canon Bubble Jet S750 printer from them about 10pm on a Wednesday night and it arrived at my office on Friday at noon even though I selected the free ground shipping option. They also beat everyones price for this item, and throwning in the free shipping really makes it a good deal. This is about the 5th item that I have purchased from them and it won't be the last.

"Pre-ordered Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring, Widescreen, DVD. It arrived on 02-07-02. It will not play on a Phillips DVD player used with my Home Theater system, but it will work in my computer DVD-ROM drive.
Buy.com has a new policy of handling all customer service issues through e-mail. There is no one to actually talk to. Their site only allows me to list the product as defective, and therefore they will only replace it. If it is encripted in a way that keeps it from playing in a standard DVD player replacement will be useless.
My main complaint is how buy.com has decided to insulate itself from its customers."

Very bad experience recently after a few OK ones preceding. Ordered laptop battery from Buy.com website which clearly indicated it was for an IBM T20-T21 laptop. Specified Next-Day Air. Battery didn't arrive next day; it came the day after that. I complained and Buy.com wrote me they would credit me for the $16.80 shpg. charge. I checked my Visa account recently...the credit never happened. That's strike one. The battery received arrived in crushed packaging and the clamshell holder was cracked and torn. The battery had no identification on it whatsoever as to its Buy.com part number. I charged the battery up, inserted it into my IBM T-20 and disaster. Everything was screwed up. Wouldn't boot, then would boot but with total garbage on the screen. Boot, and immediately go dead. Took the battery out right there, hooked the laptop into the AC wall outlet. It started up, but now the screen resolution was totally botched up, all the BIOS settings were nuked and it wouldn't boot past the W2K screen. I eventually got the laptop restored after hours with IBM on the phone, my original disks, etc. The screen resolution is still a problem.
I looked at this battery and finally managed to determine from the bar code that it was a Y/L model, not the T/L model I needed (as Buy.com's website said the battery should be). They shipped me the wrong battery with wrong voltage!
So I sent a note right off to Buy.com describing the situation and demanded an immediate return RMA. As others on this forum have commented, Buy.com seldom replies to your email within the promised 12 hours.
I got the RMA via email, downloaded the label from UPS and get it shipped back to Buy.com.
Looked at my Visa bill from July. Not only was the shpg. credit not there as promised, Buy.com had not credited me for the return, even tho' I had UPS confirmation proof that they had received the return more than two weeks ago. I'm mad now.
I shoot an email off to Buy.com demanding (yes, I feel I have the right to demand things here...their poor order handling nearly destroyed a $4000 laptop) the credit be posted immediately. I get a note back from them stating they won't credit the bill until I return the battery in the box and packaging (with manual) it came in. They then claim to be returning the battery to me so this can be done.
First, the packaging was already pretty much destroyed when I got it. I've already described that above. Manual? What manual? There was anything with the battery.
At this juncture, I have called Visa to have the charge removed. This is happening while I write this. I have all Buy.com's emails and communcations on this where they admit sending the wrong item, and having received the return.
Buy.com is the type of company that should be avoided. A few good experiences before have now become a lost customer to them forever. I will avoid this company like the plague.
