"So far I have yet to receive the products i ordered, there is NO tracking info available on their website AND I cannot reach a real human being over the phone! If I don't get somewhere very soon I will be cancelling the credit card charge and putting them on The Black List of dealers....."
" Buy your computer from a local dealer, even if it costs a little more. Everything about my experience with Compuvest, after the initial hello and exchange of pleasantries was absolutely unsatisfactory. I should have heeded the early warnings, but I let my impulsive desire guide me instead. I was in a hurry to own a computer, but my purchase from Compuvest ended up costing me several months in the end.
Nobody could answer questions about the computer I wanted. They told me they couldn't answer "technical" questions. I asked what software was on the computer. That's not technical. That's like asking whether the car you want has 2 doors or four, or what size engine it has.
When the computer arrived, it didn't work, and part of the equipment was not as advertised. I'm not smart enough to know what the scam was, but I am convinced that they sold me a computer that they knew was broken.
Because of the time involved and the possibility of additional damage during shipment, I requested to be allowed to have the computer repaired locally by a licensed Mac shop, but Compuvest refused. I had this shop diagnose the computer, anyway, because my dealings with Compuvest and the very restrictive language of their written warranty made me feel it necessary to have independent documentation of the problem. I was very afraid that they would attempt to blame me for the problem and void the warranty. That cost me $45 that will never be reimbursed.
Honestly, I was afraid to even tell Compuvest that I had been to the Mac shop, again, because I was afraid they might attempt to somehow use that as reason to void the warranty. When a company that is a thousand miles away has your cash in their pocket and all you have is a broken piece of crap and a warranty which they wrote, you realize how powerless you are.
During my attempts to resolve the issue, several of my phone calls went unanswered, and I later learned that the company routinely closes early whenever they want, apparently, even for rain if they desire. This served to further delay resolution of the matter for more than a week, at least, because they are also closed on weekends.
Finally, when I realized that my only hope was to ship the computer back to them and pray, they couldn’t resist sticking me one more time. Even though they promised a speedy return of my money, it took them more than a week to even begin to look at the computer once they had it, then several more days to complete their exam, and even more days to write and mail my refund. This, in spite of the fact that I told them exactly what was wrong with the computer.
By contrast, my local shop had an answer for me in about 4 hours, even though they are quite busy and I brought the computer to them completely unannounced. Some people do understand the value of good customer service. Please, buy your computer locally."
"I am an off an on customer of CompuVest and lately they have been super efficient and the best part is that the customer is always right. I ordered a drive, and as mistakes do happen, they sent me the wrong drive. They immediately emailed me a return UPS label and upon receipt of the item, they refunded my total amount including shipping. The item I originally ordered was out of stock. I order a lot of stuff from many etailers and it was just a no hassle return with very polite people and I spoke with many people. "
"superior products and customer support. they run a tight ship with a personal touch, and consistently beat the pricing of the "usual suspects"... "
"This company will send you used components and claim that they are new. I ordered 14 supposedly new network cards and most of them have signs of being used. I also only got 6 driver CDs and only 2 of the cables that are supposed to come with "managed" cards (3C905CX-TM-M). Their prices are good for a reason. They misrepresent their products."
"DO NOT ORDER FROM THESE SCAMMERS
Ordered one thing, sent completly different, lesser value item, had to reverse charges with credit card company."

"I found this store to get some ram for a laptop. The product was described clearly, the terms of sale were all spelled out beforehand and the order arrived quickly in good working order.
I would do business with them again.
It seems the people with complaints here didnt bother to read the terms of sale before they ordered.
I always take the risk of having to pay to ship something back to a company whenever i buy online.
I agree that the company could have gone farther to fix when shipped the wrong/bad item.
"
"Very satisfied
I ordered the wrong item the first time (which was totally my fault) and the second time I ordered to correct item. Compuvest even called me to make sure that my second order was legitimate. orders was shipped and delivered a timely fassion"
"*** WARNING: DO NOT BUY FROM THIS RETAILER ***
Sent wrong item, took days & many emails to get them to acknowledge the mistake. I had to send the item back at my expense being told I would be shipped the correct item. They refunded the transaction instead of sending the correct item as they had promised. I even emailed them several times to verify I was getting the correct replacement. After that they refused to answer my emails as to why I wasn't sent the item I ordered.
The whole process took a month, I don't have what I ordered, they made the mistake and I'm out the shipping costs. "
"Ordered a very hard to find older video card from CompuVest. Great price! Super fast delivery! Video card runs like a champ and was new as adverstised! I will order from them again!"
"*** WARNING: DO NOT BUY FROM THIS RETAILER ***
Worst online purchase experience of my life.
I ordered a laptop described as a 'manufacturer refurbished' HP and paid for the upgraded shipping so that I could get my brother a laptop before he left the country. This was followed by two days of no contact from Compuvest whereupon I purchased a laptop locally to make sure my brother would have one. Subsequently, I emailed Compuvest a cancellation notice and then received a shipping notification later that day - ETA being one day too late for my brother. I emailed Mark and asked him what had happened and let him know I would bounce the laptop right back. He informed me I was liable for a restocking fee, which I refused. After flailing around for awhile, I got his manager Frayne who said he'd give me a small credit ($50) on the laptop if I kept it, so I decided to. THE WRONG LAPTOP ARRIVED! Half the ram as promised and no DVDRW! The 'manufacturer refurbished' laptop had an obviously pre-used copy of XP, bad scratches on the LCD and a cheap third-party charger. I had to fight with them AGAIN over the space of two days before I got them to send out a return label, and the only reason I got a full refund is because I disputed the charge with my card company!
DO NOT RISK YOUR MONEY AT COMPUVEST! When I told Frayne I would leave a review on vendor rating sites, he laughed at me and told me to go ahead."
"Ok I take back the positive comment. Turns out my IBM P275 monitor burned out on me only one year later when these CRT's are supposed to last 6 years. Their warranty service is bullsh!t and now I'm out $265. They offered another monitor that didn't suit my needs. All I wanted was a replacement of what I was promised I would get with the warranty I had that was supposed to be still good. Also, when I called IBM about the warranty, they told me the serial number printed on my Compuvest receipt belonged to some
completely different product. This place is like a chop shop for electronic hardware parts. BEWARE
Previous comment... I ordered an IBM P275 monitor on Friday August 10th from Compuvest because they seemed to be the only online store on the entire internet with a BRAND NEW! product of something they stopped making a few years ago. After placing an order by phone by one of their professional customer service representatives, I decided to take a look at their store reviews on this site, and the first two comments REALLY scared me since this was my first time ordering from this store. Well, I just received my package today (1 day earlier than estimated!) and this monitor is indeed brand new! and thought I'd give them the credit they deserve for my easy and smooth first time experience with them. I am using the monitor right now and it blows away my older monitor which happens to be the same one except my previous P275 was bought reburbished and I now learned that I never saw the best of this monitor until today. I'm so happy! my computer just got a lot more fun to use. I will be adding Compuvest to my frequent online stores favs list =D Great store! and very professional service. I did send them emails concerned about this monitor being new and they quickly responded with what I or anybody would have wanted to hear. This place will come through for you with ease. Just know what you're buying."
"Careful!!! Stay away!! Even though they indicate 1 year warrentee for items on their website their mdse is not warrenteed by manufacturer. Warrentee is from compuvest at their descretion. I bought Hitachi HD and when I called Hitachi for service they told me that the drive was intended for sale to computer mfg and not intended for retail sale so they did not warrentee. No where on their webite does it indicate that warrentee is not from Hitachi. I had to go back to compuvest and they told me that I had to send HD back so that they could take it apart and try to fix it and would not an advance replacement. Obviously they do not have the facilities to do hard drive repair!! Stay away!!"
"*** FAIR WARNING *** Compuvest will Lie, Cheat, Steal to make a deal and to keep your money!!!
Compuvest Lied to me in order to make a sale:
I saw a rather decent price on merchandise that I was looking to buy and contacted them with a phone call to make sure the product was not re-furbished. The sales person assured me the product was new and would include “everything” I needed to successfully install the piece into my computer. The only hitch was that it would come in a (white) box. I told him I would place the order as long as all installation manuals, adaptors, etc. were included. WHEN IT ARRIVED, THERE WAS NO MANUAL OR INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS.
Compuvest cheated me:
They sent me a product that seemed to be refurbished and one that did not include a manual or any installation instructions. Therefore, I was unsuccessful at installing it. I could not get help from them as my plea for technical help was answered as follows, “We do not provide technical support, you’ll have to call the manufacturer”. Well, the manufacture also does not provide support (they rely on their resellers to do this). I worked at it diligently for a 1 ½ days. Subsequently, I had to return the item after many hours of trying to configure it to my computer.
Compuvest Stole from me:
After going thru their RMA (return) process, they charged me with a 15% restocking fee and would not pay to have the item shipped back to them. All of this after explaining to them that I suffered much time & agony trying to install a video card that had no instructions. (It was not a simple plug-n-play install). I pleaded my case with the person in charge of the RMA’s – to no avail. She then sent me to talk to the Sales Manager. After pleading my case again, he said he would walk over and talk to the RMA Manager and call me back. After 2 days without a phone call, I sent him an email reminding him of the phone call he promised me. Another 24 hours went by without a reply. I sent another email stating that I would be placing further actions against his company if he decided not to acknowledge me. Within an hour he responded saying he had been discussing this with the RMA Manager and was trying to get them to see my point. I feel that he was just postponing the issue hoping I would “go away”. Nothing was resolved in that email, but a call did come from him soon after stating that they would not refund the 15% restocking fee I was charged.
I have repurchased a like item from another retailer (and it DID come with all manuals and instructions) and it has been successfully installed. The taste in my mouth is quite bitter after dealing with such scoundrels. Unless you are looking for a hard to find piece (for a decent price) and are willing to take your chances with this shoddy company – take your business (and hard earned money) elsewhere. They did NOTHING to earn my money, but kept it anyway!
