"I ordered some 400mhz SDRAM for my laptop from consumer depot. They sent me 2 used poorly packaged SODIMMS in an envelope with no anti-static packaging, which they charged me $9.50 for. (a total rip-off!) Upon instpection, One of the sticks was correct and worked, the other an older 266mhz stick and would not work. Attempts to contact them to resolve this resulted in them asking me to return the sticks (both) for a refund of only my amount paid, (not including the exorbitant $9.50 shipping.) I would then be out that, plus return shipping, and that's over half the amount I paid for the memory! I feel they should refund BOTH shipping charges which they refuse to do, since they fraudulently tried to pass off an incorrect product on me. I will be disputing the charges with my bank!

"This was an ebay item (above number is auction #), and I felt that the seller really could have done a better job describing the item. As an e-commerce merchant myself, I understand the sizable difficulties involved in reselling broken items (i.e., bottom line people don't want things they buy to be broken, and perversely hope they won't be even though they know they are buying from a broken electronics resaler), but the description essentially consisted of the statement that the item was broken or defective and might be able to be used for parts, without going into any details about which parts. I needed the item for parts (obviously, as would anyone buying it), but it turned out the part I needed was defective on this item. What good is buying a device for parts if you aren't able to find out which parts are good and which are bad? Otherwise it's just a shot in the dark. Luckily I think I have figured out a way to fix it, but the point stands that if I had not I would have just been throwing my money away. When I inquired specifically as to whether this defect existed before I bought it, they gave me a very vague answer about the general condition of the item without answering my question. Also, the battery was entirely the incorrect one for the application, and the device did not function with it in (fortunately I had a spare on hand). That goes beyone simply defective . . . they may have switched the batteries. In summation, I think they could try a little harder to run some simple tests and describe which parts are faulty (within reason, not down to the capacitor). "
