"I chose Coolframes for online prescription eyeglasses because they have a very good selection of advanced lens technologies and designer frames available. The choices for progressive multifocal lenses is especially impressive compared to other vendors.
However, I still have concerns about how well the fancy new prescription lenses will fit because the only measurement Coolframes uses is pupilary distance, whereas in-person opticians use 4 or 5 measurements to get the focal point of the lenses just right. On top of that, the instructions for deciphering one distance between the pupils into two measurements, one for each eye, is not good. I chose to submit my single measurement along with an emailed copy of my prescription, and got back an email confirming that that worked and that my fancy lenses were being ordered right away.
That is as far as I have gotten in the process so far. I am hoping for the best, but I am not sure how well the finished product will work. I decided to roll the dice because the 20% discount Coolframes offered on high end name brand frames and lenses made the best technology affordable. But the return or exchange policies are not generous, and there is no fitting service or reimbursement, so, we'll see.
Unlike some vendors, Coolframes does not advertise its ability to take FSA or HSA payments, but I used my HSA card without any problems.
Had I only wanted non-prescription sunglasses or frames, Coolframes had my size and color of my chosen frames in stock and ready to ship the next day. But as it is, I am told they have ordered my lenses from the manufacturer, and it will take 3 to 5 business days before their lab has them. "

Cool frames gave me the option to pay like $30 something for overnight shipping, so I did and was then told they won’t be made till April 25th (today, haven’t received an update) and was also charged the overnight shipping fee.
