"I purchased a boxed dvd set which was "in stock". The set was shipped on 5/11. Vendor was not able to provide tracking information for the shipment. I received the package on 5/24. My overall experience is positive but probably would purchase elsewhere next time..."
"I ordered over $300 worth of DVDs from this site, most of them at a greatly reduced price from retail. It took a little while for the items to ship, but with free shipping included, it was greatly worth it.
Several follow up e-mails were sent to keep me updated with my order's progress, so I always knew what was going on, including even a survey after the order asking how the order went.
The excessively low prices combined with free shipping made me wonder about the reliability of this site, but it came through wonderfully and will surely shop there again next time I want DVDs. Highly recommended for DVD purchases."
"I paid for a CD that never arrived. When I called this company they said that they would ship a replacement on 5-5-06. When I checked the status of this replacement shipment there was no record of it at all. I spent good money in good faith and received nothing for it but the run around. I would never recommend anyone do business with DeepDiscountCD as I believe that they are thieves and frauds."
"I purchased three DVD's from this store and two of the DVD's that were sent were incorrect from what I paid for/"
"Very unsatisfied with this company. Six months ago (September 2005) I ordered several DVDs. The checkout process on their website did not work properly with my Firefox browser and it's pop-up blocker so I accidently ordered multiple copies of one of the DVDs. I tried to find a way to cancel the order online but couldn't so I immediately called them to explain what happened and cancel the extras. The custumer service rep was extremely rude and told me they couldn't cancel it because the order was already sent to the wharehouse which was in a different location. She said it was my fault because there was something wrong with my computer. She also said I could return them after they arrived, but it would cost me more to return them than it cost to order them in the first place (it was a $4 DVD I accidently ordered multiple copies of). Great, I figured I would just get the other DVDs I wanted and get a couple extra I didn't for an extra $8. If only it would have turned out that way...
About a week later I got in the mail 3 copies of the same $4 DVD but none of the others. Checked the website and the rest said the were on backorder. Great. Checked back a couple weeks later and they were still on backorder. I wasn't in a rush to get them so I figured I'd just wait. Eventually I forgot about them. So today, six months later, I get an email saying that I cancelled the order because the items were discontinued! SIX MONTHS!!! WTF?! What kind of company keeps your order processing for 6 months?
The prices seemed good but needless to say I won't be doing business with them again."
"I ordered 2 cds from this merchant. They have a good deal with regards to free shipping. But, hell! it takes forever to get the cds! 1 cd I got it after 10 days! The other one? I'm still waiting on it. This is the first & last time I will buy from this merchant! If you want to get your cds fast, then I suggest to go to your nearby cd store."
"When dealing with this company I,
1) Waited over a month for a CD which is still not here.
2) Was charged TWICE for the same CD (which never got here).
3) Was given two shipment confirmations, 5 weeks apart.
4) Never got my CD."
"I purchased two boxed sets from this company early in December and received them the middle of December. That is when my troubles started. Shortly after that someone in the vicinity of their business address began using my credit card info to purchase big ticket items to the tune of $750.00. I was alerted by the bank and contacted the companies that the items were purchased from and stopped shipment from taking place. I was lead to believe that my credit info would be safe, but that is apparently not the case. As a result, I had to obtain a new credit card and some of my bills were late. Be careful with who you entrust your credit card info to. These guys do not safeguard you info."
"My experience buying from Deep Discount DVD was pretty crappy. They seem to have good prices and a good selection, and I’d read good reviews of Deep Discount DVD, which is why I bought from them. But I wasn’t so lucky. I assume they are fine as long as your order ships and is delivered when expected, and you don’t need to cancel your order.
First, they need to fix their Web interface to avoid double-purchases happening by accident. If you have Windows XP Service Pack 2, your Internet Explorer has a built-in pop-up blocker. BEFORE you place an order, allow deepdiscountdvd.com to have pop-ups (Tools Menu | Internet Options | Privacy Tab | Settings Button | type in “deepdiscountdvd.com” and click “Add”). If you don’t allow pop-ups for the site first, when the confirmation window tries to pop up, it will be blocked, which is what happened to me. I right-clicked on the “a pop-up was blocked” bar and told IE to always allow pop-ups for this site, and then it refreshed the page, which means it re-sent the information. I realized this too late, because this would re-send my order. Sure enough, I had two different orders confirmed by e-mail—whoops.
However, it was Sunday night, and there was online order status checking. So hey, I'm sure I could cancel it online myself, before it was processed, right?
Wrong. Their online order status information seems to be unreliable, and it’s a bit vague. The shipping option was listed as “priority shipping,” but I didn’t know what that meant. I had to call them to find out that this meant USPS Priority Mail, supposed to arrive in 3-5 business days after the order is placed. Anyway, the online order status also showed that one order had a backordered item and thus was not ready to ship. When I called them, they told me this wasn’t true; both orders were supposedly complete. But to this day, I believe the order status for both still says “open” and not “shipped” or “canceled.” So I wouldn’t rely on it.
Since I had a duplicate order to be canceled, I wrote an e-mail to customer service on Sunday, right after placing the order, to ask them to cancel it. They sent back an automatic response asking me not to send multiple e-mails about the same topic, but that they were busy because of the holiday season, and it might take a couple of days for them to get back to me. I never received a reply for that e-mail.
I called Deep Discount DVD on Monday to try to cancel the order. After being on hold for like 20 minutes, I hung up. I was at work all day, and I’m on Pacific Time while they are on Central Time, so I really didn’t have a chance to call back that day while they were open.
I called on Tuesday morning and got someone right away. I wanted to cancel the incomplete order (with the supposedly backordered item). Sorry, both are shipping today and can’t be canceled now, they tell me. What? Yes, really. So both orders are complete, and nothing is backordered for either order? Yes, they tell me, and both will ship today and can’t be canceled. Perfect. They say, you’ll have to send back one of the packages after calling us to have us send you a return label, or else you can refuse one of the packages when it arrives. GREAT. THANK YOU VERY MUCH. They were nice on the phone and said they would relay my message about the Web site to someone higher up.
I realized also that I had made a boo-boo: Since I was planning to spend Christmas in Illinois at my parents’ house, where I previously lived, I had the items shipped straight to that address, under my name. Little did I know that they were using the U.S. Postal Service for this, and that my forwarding order was going to cause them to forward those packages to my place back in California. So of course I didn’t get the packages in Illinois. I figured they would be waiting for me at my place in California.
I got back to CA on New Year’s Eve and confirmed that nothing had been left for me here. I had gotten the tracking numbers from Deep Discount DVD a few days previously, over the phone, and they didn’t offer to track the packages or tell me where they were. So I tracked them myself online, and there was no information available from the USPS for one package, while the other one had supposedly been delivered to Illinois on December 17. Neither Deep Discount DVD, whom I contacted again via e-mail, nor the USPS (via e-mail or phone), was helpful in finding out where this package actually was. And I’m guessing that the other package was never shipped, since Deep Discount wrote me an e-mail telling me they had refunded me for it (the e-mail was signed by no one and came from a generic e-mail address). The last note I wrote them was returned to me by a Yahoo e-mail server saying it couldn’t find the recipient.
In any case, I never got either package, but I did get a credit for each on my card. That’s all I wanted, and I am done dealing with these guys."
"Wonderful site. I got my Casanova cd today. Their customer service is wonderful, imo. They responded very quickly and nicely. My album arrived intact and in excellent condition. Their shipping is a bit slow but that didn't matter, really. I will definitely shop with them again.
"
"I am very dissatisfied with Deep Discount. I read about them on a forum with nothing less than rave reviews. I ordered a DVD boxset for my boyfriend for Christmas on December 10th. Yes, it was cutting it close, I know; but it was a last minute find that I thought would be an extra touch.
When I ordered, my item was listed as in stock and was expected to ship on the 20th. It took 10 days to "process" the order. That's right, for 10 days, my order status was listed as "in processing." When the 20th came, my purchase was listed as "backordered." I have contacted customer support and have received no response whatsoever. Shipping should not be a problem as I can drive to their location under an hour and a half.
It is now the 31st and I am still waiting for my order, still waiting for a response and still wondering if I will ever get what I wanted from this site.
The nicest thing the site could do is reply to my questions and update my backorder to a more appropriate date. They still say that my dvd is expected to ship on the 20th. Obviously not! An e-mail saying "We're sorry, the item you ordered is on backorder. We expect to receive new copies by January 8th" would be generous of these people but they don't even do that!
If you want to buy, be careful. The site has wonderful reviews and hopefully I'll be able to come back and write one of those someday. Until then, they have another unhappy customer.
UPDATE: I've had enough. I cancelled my order. I have been waiting a month for my boxset to ship and it is still on backorder!
UPDATE 2: I received some e-mail from them offering 50% off, etc., etc. So, I removed myself from their mailing list. And not less than 10 minutes later, I begin receiving more e-mail from them saying I just agreed to be signed up to their newsletter! I checked the page again and it clearly said "To be removed!" Don't know what these people are doing, but after what they've already done, this does not make me happy!"
"Purchased 4 DVD's and was told they would make it by XMAS. 1 was discontinued, 1 backordered, 2 shipped on 12/17. Here is it 12 days later and I still have not recieved the 2 that shipped. They told me to wait until Jan 6 and then call back. I have never heard of USPS taking 3 weeks to ship a package from Illinois to Arizona. It makes it worse when the guy on the phone has no sympathy and just keeps repeating, "Wait until Jan 6". I know this place has good prices, but I will never order from them again. Horrible customer service. "
"Up until recently, I had good experiences with Deep Discount DVD. However, their turnaround time has really
been slipping as of late. I have one item ("Gaudi Afternoon", ordered
11/29, and shown as "in stock" at the time), which they say shipped on
12/9, that I have yet to receive. I called today, and they said they would
reship it, but that it was now on backorder and would not ship until 1/6.
So, what had been ordered in plenty of time for a Christmas present will
now have to be a birthday present for my daughter in February.
Another order, with an "estimated ship date" of 12/13 is still shown as
"open" on the Web site. When I called them today (12/27/05), they said it shipped on
12/13, which was exactly two weeks ago. This is a birthday present for my
son (Jan 2), and it remains to be seen if he'll get it on time.
DDDVD has good prices, but I would not recommend using them if you are in
any hurry. They ship using USPS, so you can't track the package. You only
have their word for it that it shipped on the day they said they did. Their
shipments are so consistently slow that I have to question their honesty on
the ship dates. I get plenty of other USPS packages that come in much
faster than theirs, typically in less than half the time."
"Horrible customer service. The CSR was extremely rude. I ordered 10 DVD box sets on 12/02/05 and at the time of the order they did not say that 5 of them were back-ordered. Later i figured out that the ship date for them was 12/12/05. I said, Ok i can wait may be 10 more days. I finally received my back-ordered DVD box sets on 12/22/2005 (20 DAYS After the order date)!! and i see, i got wrong items shipped. So, called the CSR and he was so rude to say that it will take them another 15 days to process return/exchange. I would NOT order from them again. Prices are very competitive but horrible service."
"Ordered a DVD as a Christmas present for my daughter on Dec. 6, 2005. It was shipped on Dec. 8 according to DDD's order status. As of today, Dec. 21 (13 days later), I still have not received it. Unbelievable! USPS has the slowest and worst shipping service. I can't believe any company would use USPS to ship its merchandise. I know this because every other week, I would get someone else's mail delivered to my mailbox. Avoid DDD and USPS."
