"Purchased 2 "in stock" DVD's that had a 3-4 day shipping time. Received no confirmation e-mail on the order. Contacted them four days later via e-mail and received a 'form' response.
E-mailed them after another six days, just to receive the same 'form' response.
Finally got my order on the 30th; 14 days after my order.
Received an e-mail telling me they shipped the videos that day; a full day after I already received them!!
If you want video's quick or if you want responses from your inquires, DO NOT order from these people.

"Placed order on 12/16/03. In stock items did not ship until 12/23 via 2-5 day UPS. Repeated phone calls to the site were met with constant busy signals. Finally just got through this morning and got a UPS tracking number. It is scheduled for delivery on 1/2/04. 17 days for delivery of in stock items is not what I consider acceptable. The prices are good, but not great, and I will probably not order from them again. It's not worth it to me for the aggravation of waiting versus a couple of bucks."

"This site has some of the best prices on dvds. Unfortunately, price isn't everything. Price also doesn't mean anything if you do not get your order. The site is very amateur looking and does not instill confidence. I received several errors during the ordering process and after finally placing the order I received notice weeks later that it had been cancelled. When emailing and calling to try to reinstate this order, something which any decent site with reasonable customer service is able to do, I was treated rudely and told that it is not possible. I don't believe it is not possible as if nothing else the CSR should be able to place a new order with the same information. I was treated as if I was wrong because of a limitation in their system. No attempt was made to fix their gaffe. If you would like to roll the dice and get some cheap DVDs, you may want to give them a try. Only do this is you don't care if they arrive in a reasonable time and if you want to be treated rudely if they do not. Don't purchase something you expect to give as a gift to someone, you may find yourself in a last minute crunch to find something else. "
"I ordered 3 DVD's from them on December 4th thinking that it would be plenty of time even if their shipping is super slow... but holy cow... One of the DVD's I ordered, which the website said it was instock, appeard to be on back order when they sent the conformation order. 6 days later!! I finally get an email stating that the items have been shipped and will arrive in 5 to 10 with an Estimated Arrival date: 12/19/03 - 12/24/03. 20 DAYS AFTER I ORDER THE DVD's THAT WERE SUPPOSED TO BE INSTOCK! I like the prices and the site is decent, the communication needs to be better, and the shipping and handling department needs a major overhaul!!! "I was very unhappy with this vendor. I placed an order for a DVD and was told it shipped on 11/18/03. Today is 12/08/03 and I still have not received it. They are now going to reship it to me priority mail. I ordered from them because of the price and had I known thet they ship via media mail I never would have ordered it from them. Media Mail is so unreliable. I am very disappointed with this company.

They reshipped the dvd via standard mail and I never received it again. I don't know where the problem is whether it is the USPS or with Deep Discount DVD but I will never order from them again. They ended up refunding me my total."
"First time shopping with Deep Discount DVD, It came highly Recommended by the good people of Anandtech Off Topic's forum. The day Finding Nemo was released I drove to circuit city only to find that the $14.99 price had sold out in a matter of minutes of its release, I didn't feel like driving another 30 minutes to the next location. So I found Finding Nemo for $14.89 at deep discount dvd with free shipping, great deal! Well I went for the free shipping which is Media Mail (Slow as a snail). Well the day after I placed my order it shipped out and DDD kept up excellent communication, sending emails with updates. Because I chose the free shipping it took almost 22 days for the item to reach my house (IL -> CA). I contacted Deep Discount DVD because it took more than 10 days and they offered to ship me a new copy if I requsted it, but I decided to wait to see if it arrived. It came a week later. I am very satisfied with deep discount DVD's service, but next time I order I will pay a little extra for ups ground shipping.

I made 2 seperate orders with DDD for Alien Quadrilogy & Die Hard Trilogy with a 20% discount coupon. I went with the free shipping again and to my surprise they sent it first class so I got them 5 days after it shipped. Die Hard trilogy was back ordered but it shipped on the day they said it would be back in stock. I love this store; Free Shipping, No Tax, Coupons, what more can you ask for? "

"Items purchased were priced lower than most other places I visited, so I decided to make my first purchase here with the intention of making future purchases if the quality of service matched their good prices.
Unfortunately, problems with their shipping will probably keep me from taking advantage of the good pricing in the future. The problem is that I opted for their "expedited" shipping for $4.95 and I apparently received standard shipping/parcel post (which is free).
I have no problems with honest mistakes and approached them asking for a refund and an explanation for what had happened. My refund request was honoured without much effort on my part, but the issue isn't that I'm desperate for the $4.95, it's that when I pay for a level of service, I do so because I want the benefits of that service. In the event that there was some misunderstanding on my end, I offered them the opportunity to show that my package was indeed shipped priority (no tracking info?), but they really didn’t address that matter at all, simply confirming that I requested and paid for “priority” shipping without addressing if it was shipped via priority.
So, while I’m happy that I received a refund, I’m still left wondering why my package was apparently shipped via the wrong method (USPS parcel post vs. USPS priority). I’m left without any explanation whatsoever, not even a defense of the practices by the company’s customer service. Indeed, it seems they don’t really care what happened or that I have a correct view of what happened. Perhaps I should just be happy with the refund, but since I really wanted to continue to use them for my DVD needs, I would’ve preferred an explanation so that I can shop with confidence in the future.
So, unless I decide I need a DVD without any expectations as to when it will arrive, I’m not sure I’ll be a returning customer. I do have to give them credit for their hassle-free credit, though. They did a good job with that, requiring just my word that the package arrived outside their stated deadlines."
"Just completed my first order with this company. The shipping was quick, and the prices were extremely low. The only problem I had was a minor one. One of my DVDs was backordered, which was okay, but I wish they would update their backorder status more frequently. It had an estimated ship date of 10-12-03. It didn't ship until like 10-20-03. But the ship status never changed to give me a new estimate which would've been nice. But overall I was very happy."

Great prices on DVDs, but this company's shipping is horrible. I've placed 2 orders with them. The first took almost 48 hours to ship (not including the weekend -- ordered on 10/2, shippped 10/6), with one item remaining on Backorder. I placed my second order on 10/10, and it has yet to ship. Their website claims the shipping date was supposed to be 10/13, but they have yet to send anything notifying me of a delay to the order, a confirmation for shipping, or input a new ship date on the website. Meanwhile, the item on backorder from my first order on 10/2 (that was supposed to ship around 10/12) hasn't come in yet and they have not emailed a notification of a delay, or updated the website with a new estimated ship date. (It is now 10/15 and they still haven't shipped anything from either order.) Both orders were upgraded to priority shipping at added expense and thus far I have not seen any form of life in Customer Service. I attempted to contact them via the listed email address to modify a placed order (my one on 10/10) that hadn't shipped to cancel two Pan-N-Scans I ordered by mistake. One is on backorder. CS claims this cannot be modified and I have to ship it back to them once I recieve it. WTF? My final conclusion? Great prices, yes, but I have not been impressed with anything else from this company. Time to find another online DVD retailer. Even if I have to pay more per DVD, it's worth not having to deal with this. Thumbs down!
Update 10/24: My DVDs ordered on the 10th have finally arrived, minus the one still on backorder. My backordered item from my first order on 10/2 still hasn't shipped yet (although the website does still say estimated shipping date is 10/12...). Some shipping (2-5 day) upgrade. The real problem here is that they don't (in my opinion) get them out the door fast enough. Order from this site only if you don't want to get your DVDs for quite some time."

"Over the past couple of years I've ordered about a dozen or so DVDs from this merchant. I have had no problems. The have the cheapest prices 99% of the time. I've always chosen their free shipping option. It can take a longer time to arrive (upto 2 weeks) but it always does arrive and arrives in good condition. I would recommend this place for DVD purchases."
