"I ordered a WD 200GB JB from them on the Sept. 26 because they had the drive with 2x$100 rebates. After ordered online around 11AM EST, they sent me an order acknowledgment at 11PM EST. Nothing have happened after the email until Oct. 1st, they sent me an email indicated they received my order on Oct 1st! I called DELL immediately to explain to them that I ordered the item on Sept 26 with 2 rebates. However, the customer services refuse to correct the mistake even I got the order acknowledgment. After going through 5 different people, I decided to cancel the order. To my surprise, the order was still active on Oct. 7! I called DELL again and insisted they cancel my order and delete my ID as I'm through with them. The lady I talked to assure me that the order will be cancelled and she sent an email to me as a confirmation. Next thing I know, my landlord accepted a package for me on Nov. 8 and it's a WD 200GB JB from DELL!!! When I go back and check at DELL's website, they showed my ordered was cancelled but order status page showed the ordered was shipped!? Now I have to called them up and cancel the order AGAIN."

"Number refers to express service tag as invoice is no longer available. I have gone through two Dell laptops, and returned another one, and this is going to be my last association with the company and its products. My Inspiron 8100 has never worked properly since I bought it. E-mail service is a joke. They refuse to accept the computer for service. To add insult to injury, they yesterday refused to even talk to me because I was not able to answer their riddle abou=t where my computer was shipped to. I told them the countries I have lived in since I received the computer and none of them satisfied their service department. Some kind of lame excuse about "security." I have sent a complaint to the FTC about this practice of theirs.

An Inspiron 5150 that my wife received two months ago broke down almost immediately when she tried to use AOL to log on. In order not to jeopardize the right to return the product, she returned it within the 30-day period.

"The most recent incident has been going on for a month, I don't feel like recounting details so I'm just giving the highlights.

In past:
1. Lied to about rebates to the tune of $150 dollars. (not a lot....it's the principle)
2. Emails to sales representitive outright ignored (I got confirmation of receipt and confirmation of read).
3. Emails to sales rep.'s manager ignored. ^^^^^^^


Current:
1. Had technician come out for "next day repair" four times in one week.....wrong part sent from wharehouse.
2. Missed total of 6 days work between me and partner from first week and promised repair visits that turned out to be no shows (no notifaction call either....just sitting and waiting and calling and....).
3. Cancelled repair requests....no explanation given, just apologies.
4. Given false employee badge numbers.
5. Given a 1-800*** pager number as a "contact information" obviously erroneous.
6. Given fake extension numbers (switch board said they don't exist).
7. Part repeatedly "back-ordered".....5 days each order.
8. Transferred to technical support, than to customer service, than to sales, than to tecnical support than to customer service.....ad nauseum.
9. "Oh, yes, sir. I promise I'll call back in [insert one] (30 minutes, tomorrow morning, Tuesday, etc) to inform you of the progress we've made." Yeah, right!


Finally, when told it would take another week to back order this elusive part (I guess all Dell production in the world has stopped this month), I got fed up and told them to just send me a working system so I could have functional laptop sometime this year.........(can't afford more days off either) 3 week wait on that one, but, hey, I've already waited the better part of a month!

When I had an IBM, if it had a problem and I called them by noon they would have a technician out within 6 hours.....imagine that!! A company that promises same day service and delivers. I bought a Dell this time because review sites rated them well on customer service and they had a better financing package than IBM....BIG MISTAKE!!

I repair pc's part time and am an Computer Engineering student, I get asked at least a couple of times a week on my opinion on what people should purchase. It is now my life mission to ensure that no one has to go through the hellish torture DELL calls "service".

Oh and, Dell, when I consult companies on who they should go to for their systems in the future.....take a wild guess.

That being said the laptop itself is nice and I've been pleased......just remember you_are_on_your_own.

"I purchased a Dimension 8250 in Febuary and I've had problems with it. The package arrived on time and I set it up the same day it arrived. I set everything up and it worked fine, I had a hard time sleep that night so I got up a thought I would explore my computer. I couldn't beleive what happend when I tried to start my computer up only a couple of hours after I put it together. I got a dark blue screen. my PC was running but my monitor had nothing on it. I called tech support and they helped me fix the problem. I did have a problem understanding the person on the other end of the phone because I was talking to someone from India.

This went on for several months and the problem was never fixed. I formatted at least 8 times. My hard drive finally died so they ordered my a new one. I believe they use a local company to repair these problems and someone came to my home and installed a new hard drive, this lasted only 3 weeks and my hard drive went bad again.

I called Dell and they said they will correct my problem and send me a new system. I recieved it by UPS in less than a week, but they only sent me a new tower. They no longer make the Dimension 8250 so they sent me a Dimension 8300. I set it up today and so far everything is working fine. I have a warranty on my computer that will last till the year 2007. I'm still not sure what the problem was but I think it had something to do with my Windows XP operating disk.

Dell did make an effort to make me happy by sending me a new printer for free.

I hope everything will work the way it's supposted to. I think Dell makes a good product but they need to do something about their tech support system. I have a hard time understanding a tech with a heavy Indian accent.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I need a computer I can rely on. I try to keep my important files backed up on a CD but I never expected this much trouble so I didn't back up my system as much as I should have.

"I bought a Rio Karma player from Dell for about $77. I got an order confirmation and ship date. 3 days later my order was cancelled - after 3-4 phone calls I was told I would receive an email explaiining the situation.
Dell evidently screwed up the web price on this product. They then refused to honor the sale. This would never happen at live store and Dell feels they can get away with it since they operate over hte internet.
I am strongly considering a class action lawsuit against Dell. If any of you here have had similar experiences, please send me an email at ****@****

"Dell has horrible technical support. Everytime I try to call to get help I am transfered at least 5 times. I am on hold each of these times for undetermined amounts of time. Then, in the end, I am transfered to India. The computers are nice, but if you ever need any help it is a miracle if your problem is ever figured out. "

"Extremely bad service! I purchased a camera and cancelled it the same day even b4 it reached the shipipng dept.. but they still charged my credit card - I was asked to refuse the camera when its delivered.. and to my dismay the airborne express kept the packge outside my door.. I had to call them again to ask them to send me a person to collect it back from me.. and its 7 days since that I still have no returns to my credit card.. and when I Called them yest they say it will take 7-10 business day!!! very bad customer service.. waste of time and money.. never make any purchases with dell ever again!!!!!!!1"

"I ordered a Dimension 8300 with a free upgrade to a 19" crt, free upgrade to a writeable dvd, 512 RAM, and the ATI radeon 9800 video card via the phone. They were running free shipping online at the time and when I asked about getting that even though I was calling in, and the guy checked with his supervisor and it was no problem. I must have hit it at the right time because I have not been able to come within $200 of the price I got it for since then checking back to see if prices were dropping. In addition I recieved a 15% of coupon with the shipment which I used to purchase a 2nd 19" Dell flat crt which was also on sale for 10 % off.
The computer arrived in 1 week and the 2nd monitor took a week also. Everything went together and fired up beautifully the 1st time. I haven't had any problems, but admit that after reading this board I'm on edge. My only complaint was I called a few times before finally buying and the phone system at Dell is MESS! I think they have a few too many lines for the same purpose. I also mentioned that to 2 different people I spoke with and they readily admitted that it was out of hand, and would gladly pass it along. Over all I got an excellent machine for an awesome price, and I can't understand all the negative reports, and I hope I don"t in the future.

"Dell got my order correct when I ordered, and it was packaged very well. It was shipped via Airbourne Express, which required a signature. Missed it on the first day, otherwise the package would have been delievered a day earlier than stated on the website.
Not that happy with the product because they didn't fix the keyboards from the Inspiron 8500's in the Inspiron 8600's.

"i bought my computer from dell and it was great! it was a little weird seeing these negative comments on dell, which is such a big company. i went online to find a logitech z560 speaker system and dell was cheapest with free shipping, 10% off, AND no tax. i thought dell did a good job with FREE shipping AND a discount, and im impressed that the speakers came so fast. i was expecting it in 2 weeks, i got it about a week and a half later. i think that dell does a good job on selling computers, but probably do a bad job selling peripherals. Ill b a little more careful, but i was very satified this time"

"I anticipate seeing, in addition to my review, many more others regarding the Canon 70-200IS lens fiasco. It's very simiilar to the 4600 disaster. They offered it at a phenomenally low price, insisted it wasn't an error, encouraged reps to sell more, delivered perhaps 40-100 units, and couldn't secure enough units per month to erase a backlog that might have stretched into 2004-5. So as seems to be customary with Dell, they unilaterally cancelled all remaining outstanding orders. The most egregious failing on Dell's part was the fact that orders were fulfilled not on a first in, first out basis. If that had been the case, I don't believe people would be in such an outrage. No lesson to be learned here really. Just do not give Dell any future business no matter how they might entice you with low prices and stackable discounts. End of story. End of Dell."
