"Very bad customer service. Cancelled order and charged credit card. Still has not been reversed!"
"I ordered two 4600s - not stripped by any means - and Dell canceled the order. I've personally ordered five digits' worth of Dells and responsible for more professionally. I think Dell has acted poorly and I am seriously reconsidering my future purchases and recommendations regarding Dell."
"Dell's tech support, sales, and customer service is the WORST. They couldn't tell me what I needed to upgrade my laptops - I had to find something myself, purchase one to test it for compatibility, and then purchase additional units for the remaining laptops. Its as if they don't want to sell upgrades - but I know its simply incompetance."
"Placed order. The order was acknowledged and later confirmed by a sales rep. The next day without notice Dell cancelled my order claiming a pricing error."
"The order was cancelled without any notification. Lousy customer service"
"Recently, many of the users were posting negative ratings because their orders were cancelled without consent. However, those users failed to give even the slightest detail regarding their orders of dimension 4600.
On October, 9, a Web glitch allowed user to configure a Dell Dimension 4600 Desktop, with P4 2.4GHz, 256MB, 40GB, XP Home for only $139.00 with Free Shipping after 100 rebate. The deal was immediately posted on many bargain websites and resulted in thousand of ordered rushed into Dell SB and hasty listing of 4600 on ebay. Dell caught the error several hours later and cancelled most of the orders.
Everybody who ordered this desktop knew the price was too low to be true. As of today, the cheapest price of P4 2.4GHz processor (800FSB) was listed at $159 on pricewatch.
However, people are still mad because they can not get a company to sell at below the cost so those vultures can make profit on ebay. As revenge, those people started to post negative ratings on multiple websites and filed baseless complaints against Dell on federal and state agencies.
Resellerrating, please removed those much-biased ratings regarding dimension 4600.
Statement: I have no affiliation to dell

"I've ordered several Dells in the last year or so. I ordered a Dimension 8300, and 2400 and recieved them promptly. The 8300 was loaded but was supposed to come with a onboard Raid controller. After speaking with customer service, they shipped me a really Nice Adaptec card. I just recieved my Inspiron 9100. I had issues ordering, and needed sales rep to help. For some reason my order was canceled. I called and got it straightened out, and they shipped it. I got the wrong battery, and hard drive. They were going to charge me the difference of the one I recieved and the one I was supposed to get. Same with hard drive.
What's frustrating is the language barrier. Some of the reps speak perfect english and others barely hold a conversation. Nothing against them, they are usually nice people but, they shouldn't be doing customer care.
After calling back at least 7 times I got them to agree to send me the right parts at no charge.
A lot of hassle though.
Dell is a great company if you are tech savvy and feel like fooling with them.
I feel sorry for the old later who is bound to get reamed by Dell and some shady practices. Thier upgrades are absolutely outrageous. If you don't know what to look for or the prices you can pay out the yin yang, for stuff.
THey probably lose money on me, cause I can play the game, and if I have to call 100 times to get the 5 bucks they owe me than I will. BUt those who don't have the patience or knowledge, I would recommend buying from someone else"
"Ordered the top of the line DEll Dimension 8300. As usual, Dell is easy to order from. I bought a brand new, but refurbished system. According to Dell, it is same as new quality, same warranty and closely checked prior to shipping. Got the system and first impression was..the thing is filthy, covered in dust. No big deal, wipe it down. Then I noted, I paid for a CD R/W and a DVD. I only see the DVD. Stuff happens, I can handle that. Turn on pc, error on boot. I cant get the OS up. The error tells me that the DVD player is not working. I call Dell support. They check bios and that solves nothing. They ask I open the chassis and check the cables. As I do that I note, the faceplate below my DVD player is crooked. Pull off the faceplate and now I have found my CDR/W recessed about 1 inch in the frame. Tell Dell support, I will return this and call customer care in the am. I note that NEITHER the DVD or CDR/W are connected to the moboard, neither cable. I called Dell and they did absolutly nothing to resolve. Think the would have tried to accomadate in some way. I am a buyer for my workplace. I have either directly or indirectly bought 30 Dells. Now, never again. Beware, they have changed!! "
"Dell has an ongoing problem with no monitoring their inventory status and accepting orders that they cannot deliver. I've had them cancel orders after a month, after gladly accepting them and stating that items are "in stock".
And they just finished cancelling two orders of mine after they'd already confirmed them. Dell said there was a "pricing error" on their part."
"Dell was extremely rude and impolite to my enquiries on the cancellation of my order. I understand that they were having massive problems with their website, but the behavior of their CSR was downright hostile. Will not purchase from dell in the future if they treat their customers this way."
"Ordered a system for my small business. P4- 2.4GHZ system. Would be evaluated for purchase by my customers."
"First time to buy from dell.com. The service was really bad. Canceled my order without notice. Don't want to be responsible for the error they made."
"I ordered a computer from Dell's Web site. Dell sent me a final order confirmation with order number and estimated shipping date, and the headline, "Here are the final details!" Dell also authorized (reserved) payment from my credit card.
Dell then silently cancelled my order several hours later. When I called for an explanation Customer Care gave me two different lies and several rounds of Touch-Tone heck. The next day, Dell sent me an insulting email implying that I "misused" their Web site (which would be a bald-faced lie, because the order was for a perfectly legitimate configuration offered by their own much-vaunted Custom Configurator).
I have seen strong evidence that Texas consumer law considers Dell's order confirmation email to be a legal acceptance of the sale, so Dell is probably violating the law in this case. If I had used a debit card instead of a credit card, Dell would have actually withdrawn my money instead of "merely" reserving it, and I think the legal case would then be crystal-clear in any jurisdiction: Once the merchant takes payment, he must fulfil the order.
By the way, Dell is *still* holding the payment on my credit card."
"Dell cancelled this order due to an alledged price mistake. However, this appears more to be a bait and switch tactic that has failed miserably. "
"It has always been the case with DELL that customers are lured in with low prices on base configs and then nickel-and-dimed with options. This time somebody 'aimed too high' and mid-level system was heavily discounted. Since people were able to remove unwanted options, this resulted in very low final system price which would not make any profit to DELL. So the retailer found nothing better than to blame customers of website misuse and cancelled any orders that did not bring profit. Quite questionable practice, if you ask me."
