Dell took my order, placed a hold on my charge card, cancelled my order, then sent me an email offering me a system at a higher price. Classic "Bait and Switch". "Ordered 2 Dell 4600 computers. Received order ecknowledgement, Confirmation and Credit Card Authorized. Order was suddenly Cancelled with no immediate explanation. Sent email to inquire why and was told that Dell was unable to get Payment Authorization on my Credit Card. Contacted my Credit Cartd company and they said this was false and authorization was given on 10/9 when order was placed.
After replying back stating that they were false on the unable to get payment authorization, Dell responded by yet another email stating that the cancellation was due to a pricing error.
Dell has taken the way of the Shady internet seller and their sales and communication practices are deceitful at best. "

"Ordered a Dimension 4600 with $400 plus $100 rebate. Saw the deal on AbleShoppers for $139 after rebate. Placed the order, received acknowledgement and then received a confirmation at the price I ordered for. Today, I check on my order and it had been Cancelled by Dell. After trying most of the morning to talk to a selas rep, I was finally told that they cancelled all the orders for this machine at that price because "We posted the wrong price on the website." "I ordered a Dell Inspiron 600m. The computer was OK but I wanted to upgrade the hard drive to a larger unit. I tried to call customer service in the evening but Dell forwards all of their evening calls to a customer support center overseas, I'm sure it's in India. Anyway, I spent an hour talking to multiple Indians that were very polite but didn't have a friggin clue as to what I needed to upgrade my drive. I tried to explain to them how an "exchange" worked but that just confused them more. Every one of them wanted name, address, service tag, etc but then when I explained the situation, they had a communications problem and forwarded me to another department. Finally after an hour of that torture, I hung up and tried Dell the next morning expecting that I'd get an American. NOPE, more Indians!!! When I started demanding an RMA to return the system they finally transferred me to an american. So, I explained the problem" AGAIN that I want to exchange a 30GB drive for a 60GB "OK, we'll ship it out for $269" I said "OK, how much credit do I get for the 30GB??" reply "NOTHING." So, I returned the entire system. AN EXTREMELY AGGRAVATING EXPERIENCE, NEVER AGAIN."
"Get ready to speak to some of Dell's employees that are hard to understand, believe them to be from India. When i ordered my system they told me delivery would be about 15 to 20 days, then they slipped the date twice, when i called them about it they said not to pay attention to the last date but to refer to the previous ship date [ the 22nd ], then to my surprise a box arrived on the 16th with some peripherals, i called and they said " oh, your computer shipped today !" It seems there tracking system is not very good as even the trackers and the agents are not up to date on what the status is. To top it off, the thumb drive i ordered was not in the box even though the invoice showed it was. All in all a sad experience for a company that extols it's virtues so highly. "
