Never Again!

"Bought and Optiplex 9020 with high hopes based on the quad core and 8 mg RAM. But totally let down as this PC is slower than my older i5 dual core, and the sound card is defective. Dell offers no help, so now I have an overpriced block of junk on my desk. I upgraded to another brand/model and it zips along as a quad core should, with no sound card issues. Will not be buying a refurbished Dell ever again. Too bad too, because I have always had luck with their computers in the past. "

Unfortunate Decision

"Purchased a laptop from Dell Refurbished just before Christmas. It had a 100 day warranty and here I am 2 months after the warranty expired and smoke is billowing out of the side of the laptop when I plug it in. Yes, they were within their rights to not do anything for me since my warranty was up, but they are definitely selling garbage there. If you buy from them don’t expect the computer to last more than a few months. Go spend a couple hundred dollars more somewhere else and get a computer that will last for years instead of months."

Did I get lucky?

"I see nothing but poor reviews for Dell Refurbished. I hadn't seen all the negative reviews until after I'd placed my order. I was expecting to be disappointed, but I was not. The laptop I've received looks and functions like new. It was packaged as if it was a brand new machine, and the AC adaptor IS brand new. When I powered it up it went through the new computer setup and installed a fresh copy of Windows 7. I've had it for less than a day, so I can't comment on how it will perform over time, but if any problems do arise in the future, I'll have no reason to believe they could have been foreseen by Dell before shipment. I got a very nice laptop for a great price."

"I am very disappointed as I have not received my laptop no email and no form of contact to let me know the order was cancelled for a ridiculous reason which was that they didn't want to deliver to s shipping company.
You have lost a customer and I will be informing friends family and fellow peers how ridiculous your service is.
You should stop trading very shameful !!

Dell should not even be selling these flea market items

"I am dell business customer who relied on DELL latitude laptops over the years. Since I saw the name DELL in dealnews.com with great prices I fell for it and bought a beat up, trashy laptop for $600. Terrible Purchase.

Laptop was rattling, keyboard was loose, mouspad showed oily stains etc. Terrible condition. No more DELL for me.

I should have purchased a brand new lenovo at $800.

Waste of Money

"When i bought the computer it was for college i thought this is going to be great. It was a dell optiplex 7010 with i5 quad core processor with 16gb of memory (2 8gb memory sticks). When i got the computer It was nothing but problems. I powered up the computer and it came with 4gb of memory. I called them and they apologized and shipped the 16gb of memory free of charge 10 days later. I powered up the computer again I plugged in a USB drive and it did not even register. I plugged in another USB drive that i knew was good. It did the exact same thing. I checked the drivers in device manager and all of the usb devices was updated. A month later I clicked on scan for hardware changes. Then it registered and I immediately thought it was a driver issue or a bios issue. I updated the bios and the drivers to the current version It did the EXACT same thing i even updated the operating system to windows 10 and updated the operating system to the latest update nothing. after 2 months of troubleshooting and GeekSquad looking at the issue they determined it was the motherboard as well. I called support and they said the warranty was expired by a month and they said there was nothing they could do even as i explained the problems listed above. They also said there was NOTHING wrong with the motherboard and it was a driver or operating system issue even though I and Geeksquad looked at the problem and we both determined it was the motherboard. These support people were of no help whatsoever. I will NEVER buy ANYTHING from them again."

Lousy policies and iffy support mar what could be a great experience

"Up front: I've bought a workstation tower, a small form factor desktop, two laptops, and two monitors from Dell Refurbished in the past. I've recommended them to two other people, who've both bought laptops and been happy with them. Even the B-grade units have looked astoundingly good.

Most recently, though, I bought a Dell Professional monitor from DR, after another monitor failed. The monitor they sent was clean, but, it was quite visually subpar as a display. They issued the RMA number but really wanted to send me another unit as a replacement. I needed something quicker, so I declined that and returned it for a refund. In short, they stuck me for the restocking fee, even though the monitor was simply unacceptable.

Considering the amount of money in this case, I'll live with it. However, Dell Refurbished hypes their 30-day return policy so much that it's easy to overlook the fact that the 15% restock fee is a reality for anything but a grossly defective unit. On an expensive item, this can be a significant fee.

On top of this, the handling time after placing an order is several days, and they absolutely will not cancel if it looks like they're not going to meet your own deadlines. Once you click "Place Order", know you're going to wait at least a week to receive your order and will be on the hook for a 15% restock fee for anything less than DOA.

This is the same kind of stuff that ended my purchases with Newegg. They're going to end my purchases with Dell Refurbished, too.

Rude support and refuse to honor warranty

"Bought refurbished. Battery dropped in half in 2 months, and started getting battery failure errors, as well as problems connecting to WiFi. Support Tech Dale Clowers sent me a condescending response saying it's clearly on their website that the batteries are used and only guaranteed for 1.5 hours. I pointed out the battery failure popups are not on the website....total waste of money, and rude support. Go elsewhere."

Horrible warranty and products.

"Paid $450 for a really nice laptop. However, multiple problems right after purchased 1-yr warranty. Fan stopped working and I self replaced at a cost of $35. Then the computer will not charge or function anymore with the supplied power adapter. "

Notebook keyboard doesn't work + they won't honor 1 year warranty

"As soon as I received the notebook PC I was traveling with it for a month. From the first day, the space bar on the keyboard stuck, inserting an extra space every few words.

The only way the machine can be used is with an external keyboard. I'm not able to carry one of those everywhere I want to bring a notebook.

Dell refuses to repair or replace the keyboard. They are offering me $20 as compensation, even though the Dell notebook PC is largely useless to me as it is.

They claim they the warranty I purchased allows them to assign any value they like to any broken or malfunctioning part of the PC. So they say the keyboard -- even though it's the only way to use the PC -- is only worth $20 out of the about $800 I paid.

Dell is a total scam. I buy several PCs for my business every year. This will be the last Dell.

buyer beware

"Bought a refurbished dell laptop and the motherboard died in 2 months... it was within 3 month warranty.. they reimbursed me $65 ( I paid $365 ). Said I could buy a used motherboard on eBay.. when I priced the repair it ws over $400 to repair it. Now I’m stuck with a piece of trash.. Dell refurbished you should be ashamed of yourself..."

Restocking fee scam

"ordered refurbished laptop, they shipped it via fedex. waited on days fedex said it would arrive and no one tried to deliever it. Fedex not helpful - would only say try next day. Dell threated a restocking fee when i contacted then and no way for me to actually accept to go get this laptop. Yet they want to charge restocking fee - such a BS scam company avoid Dell"

NOT THE SAME AS DELL OUTLET - TERRIBLE WARRANTY AND TECHNICAL SUPPORT

"As a frequent customer of Dell Outlet, I was mistaken in assuming that dellrefurbished.com would yield a similar positive experience. I purchased a Dell XPS 12 laptop/tablet though them and experienced an issue with one of the sensors not working. The screen would not autorotate when in tablet mode. Granted, this is a "moderate annoyance," but a malfunction is a malfunction.

After many hours of my own troubleshooting (I'm quasi-IT, tech savvy, if you will), I called the regular Dell support line. They were unable to help me because my machine was showing as out of warranty, even though I had just purchased it. Hmm... After a bit of digging around, I realized that computers purchased through DellRefurbished.com do not come with a Dell warranty (oh?). They come with a DellRefurbished.com warranty. Ok, fine, my mistake, I'll just call them instead and have them troubleshoot the issue... or not.

I contacted DellReburbished.com support regarding my issue and the gentleman on the other end simply googled the issue and explained why it's likely happening. I explained that I have already reinstalled drivers and that I would like to have the unit troubleshot and/or repaired, since the obvious steps did not resolve the issue. The rep explained that computers sold through dellrefurbished.com are checked and warrantied for all "major" functionality (e.g., does the display work?), but told me that this does not include something "minor" like a faulty sensor. He basically offered to continue to google stuff for me. So, THAT summarizes dellrefurbished.com technical support (I don't think they really have technical support, to be honest) and nonexistent warranty. Lesson learned, I guess... BUYER BEWARE, you are basically purchasing "as-is" with no apparent guarantee of any meaningful support whatsoever. Do not expect a "Dell" experience.

Wish I had read my own review before ordering through dellrefurbished.com.

Scam Fraud Site

"I've ordered 3 laptops from this site over the years. Last week I ordered a laptop with a valid coupon code and my cart reflected the total. After entering my credit card number I got an email and was charged the original price that was $150 higher. I was in shock and reported the transaction as fraud to my credit card company. My memory went back a few years and I remembered this happened once before at this site. that time I'd printed my cart prior to ordering so it was easy to get that price when I called them. I thought it was a site glitch years ago but it happened again last week. That's no glitch. There is no review before you complete the transaction and the site specifies you can't cancel the order once you submit it. This site is designed to scam you. When I called they acted like I did something wrong.

They said they'd refund my money or give me the discount the following Monday after I sent them 6 emails over the weekend and called first thing Monday. I wanted a refund as I can't do business with these scum anymore. I'm submitting a complaint to the FTC so hopefully a lawyer will file a class action lawsuit against them sometime in the future. Their business practices are deceptive at best and to my thinking fraudulent.
