"Ordered an expensive book on Xmas eve via Amazon platform, then saw reviews saying these guys are scammers. Cancelled Xmas day, and they refused to accept saying item already posted - on Xmas day?! Very suspicious as I can't imagine USA post or couriers open then and I hadn't had an email saying it had been sent when I cancelled. Amazon trying to sort this for me. Update: now, NINE DAYS after they claimed the book was sent and therefore unable to be cancelled, despite being listed as preparing for dispatch, I NOW get an email saying it has just been shipped! Crooks!!! Never deal with this company.
Final update: They only agreed to refund me as soon as I refused delivery after I posted negative feedback on Amazon. They begged me to remove it which I did once I got refunded. I realise you're not supposed to succumb to such pressure but I just wanted it over with. The useless Yodel arrived with book when I wasn't there and left a £100 book beside the garbage bin! I came home and managed to wave the driver down and return it to him. I informed Ergode that if I was dishonest I could've kept the book and said it was stolen which was entirely possible. To be fair to Ergode, they refunded me immediately without waiting for book to reach them and were very polite...but this was clearly due to due to my negative feedback which they wanted gone.
What I'd say in conclusion is anyone thinking of ordering from them should read all the reviews you can find on them and be very aware that if you order it's impossible to cancel the order as they say their system is automated, whatever that means, which surely must be in breach of Amazon rules."
"I ordered a book; the next day it said it shipped. 3 weeks later I contacted the seller and asked for tracking info. They said the book was "lost in transit." When I asked for a refund, they said okay. It has been 3 days and there has been no refund pending on my card. Do not order from this seller."
"I ordered an expensive textbook and they sent a small, moldy, old book that was not even by the same author. On the package was the name of the textbook I ordered which was not what was inside, but provided an important clue- they knew what was ordered. I posted a review, and sent an email for a refund. They sent an email the next day and stated that I needed to remove my "negative" review that hurt their business, and then they would begin the refund process with a partial postage amount. I told them that the review was my honest opinion and I might consider it after a full refund and full return postage. They then wanted me to provide them with information including a photograph, and the ISBN number and remove my review. I told them I didn't work for them, the item was re-packaged, and to just refund and send a packing slip (pay for shipping). They continued...Then Amazon calls and is apparently on their side saying they will give me a refund but first if I just give my permission they will erase the reviews I made (I added feedback about the emails). Then I had to get into it with Amazon, and they agreed to refund me fully. I have never had such an issue in my 25+ years of being in business and through thousands of dollars worth of books ordered. There is something wrong with a company whose customer service policy is to make the customer the bad guy, and to fail to take responsibility."
"I got my book on time with a good quality product. It was packed properly Thanks ergodebooks "
"I ordered a book 2 wks before my class started and never received it. I called and emailed at least ten times. They kept telling me to check my neighbors, post office, ups office because the book was shipped the next day I ordered. I went in a scavenger hunt for the book and no book. I requested my money back over and over again. And then all of a sudden 2 days ago the book arrived. It's been 11 weeks since I ordered. My class finishes 2 wks ago. What do I want the book for now. I called them and they said, "Well we replaced it, if we refund you it's a hardship on our company". But it's not a hardship on your customer to pay for a product they need and never receive it? Terrible terrible company. DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM!! "
"Good morning Shaun,
Actually, that's not true - the latest untruth in a series.
I ordered the item on October 8th and received notification from Amazon on Oct 20th that it was shipped. So it wasn't shipped the next day.
Let's not kid each other here. We both know that the item was underpriced by $100 or more and was never shipped but your company decided to carry on with the fiction to avoid embarrassment, to please Amazon and to prevent a negative customer review - which Ergodebooks will be getting. If that shipment ever arrives at my door I will eat the computer I'm typing this on.
Alternatively, Ergodebooks can 'fess up and guarantee to sell me a copy at the agreed price. We also know that's not going to happen.

"Ordered a book through AbeBooks. Paid as soon as possible through PayPal. The book never arrived.
Contacted Ergodebooks, they told me the book must have been lost postal transit. I asked them to confirm availability and to send me another copy. Silence from their end.
When the other copy never arrived, I contacted them again. They told me to ignore their last mail and accused me of never paying them. I sent them a PDF of my PayPal payment.
They then told me that my payment had never been processed in their system. I asked them if they still had the book available.
The answer was they no longer had it and neither had any of their suppliers. Would I like something else instead? Oh, and thank you for understanding.
I demanded my money back and complained about them to AbeBooks. I ordered my book elsewhere, hopefully it will be here in a couple of weeks.
I did get my refund, they "kindly" informed me they also refunded shipping costs, but thanks to exchange rates I was out of some money on top of everything else. Almost 3 months and no book yet."
"I bought an academic book online . I was charged 15 euros and the book was supposedly shipped. After 2 months it didn't arrive. I contacted the book company and they told it had been lost in the post they would refund me as they couldn't locate a new copy. I just saw they are advertising the same book on Amazon for 240 euros. Now I understand why my book was "lost""
"My experience is like most of the other posts. No book. Since it is a textbook and the semester has started, we bought the ebook and we paid extra for expedited shipping. So it is costing me more money. I originally contracted through Amazon which used Textbookrush. They farmed out the order to ErgodeBooks. You would think, that with as these problems, both Amazon and TBR would get it clue. If reflects on them as well.
I contacted TBR and they sent an email to, you guessed it, ErgodeBooks. "
"Bought a rare book, no tracking nr. provided, no book arrived, only the same lame email they send to everyone "product lost in transit, excuse for this postal mess", they offered to refund. The same old story - no book to sell, just using people money. And now this rare book is again for sale by them - red flag that they never posted it to me. How can Amazon still allow this fraudulent seller to freely scaming the customers after so many complains??"
"Paid 40 CAD for same book I found at Indigo for 20. They claimed shipped what they never be able to pove with a tracking # or even a name of the carrier they used (as every bookjacker do). Finally after 15 days since first rumor they shipped a tracking # is suppled. may be I'll get my book.
For sure my Amazon trust is over and I'll never be a part of the problem again buing through them."
"I was searching on Amazon for some out of print books. It seems to be the policy of Ergode Books to ask completely ridiculous prices for anything that is even slightly hard to obtain. And I mean really ridiculous. When I looked they were asking over $5,000 for a book on the Catalan Opening (Chess) by Bologan. THis was especially silly as, although it is out of print, some other vendors still had new copies for around $25.
I went on to buy the Kindle edition for 11.40 pounds sterling!
A little checking revealed several more books at such silly prices. I wonder? Are some people so desperate to get their hands on a book, and so affluent, that they will pay those prices, or do they hope people will look casually and misread where the decimal point is place?
Either way this company has now joined my personal blacklist of merchants I shall never buy from"
"This business model should be illegal. Avoid dealing with these sorts of companies, as they have zero accountability."
"I wanted to order more than they showed in stock, so I checked to see if they had access to more, but they said they only had the 5. I ordered the books and waited 2 weeks but they never came. I called them and they said I should have received them, but had no tracking number to validate that they had ever been shipped. They offered to refund or replace but since they didn't have any others in stock they could only refund. 6 days later when I was shopping to find those books at other places, ergodebooks showed they had the same number of books I ordered (but never received) in stock but the price had somehow doubled. I messaged them to see if they would honor their price due to it being their mistake, but they said they could not stand behind prior sales. Save yourself the headache and go with a different company. "
"Did not ever receive book."
