"I just ordered a Fuji FinePix 2800 from Essentially Yours Digital. Web site is poorly designed, but prices are good. Shipping prices are high. Price including shipping was cheapest on pricewatch.com, but just barely. Placed order because of location (CA vs NY for others in price range). According to other posts, it appears they may ship from NY anyway. Oh well, we'll see how it goes.
I have four rules when ordering online:
1. Site must show shipping charges before asking for a credit card.
2. Online ordering must be over SSL.
3. Price (including shipping) must beat price I would pay locally.
4. Tracking number for shipment must be available after order.
My requirements have been met so far. It appears that they use a third party for credit card processing, but it is over SSL. Shipping Info section of their web site indicates tracking number will be emailed upon verification of payment.
I received email confirmation of my order seconds after placing it. However, the confirmation doesn't list item details. It shows shipping and billing information, price, and payment method, but not what I ordered.
I'll make a second post once my order arrives. I ordered on Saturday, so I suspect it won't be processed until Monday at the earliest. I selected UPS ground which is listed as taking 7-12 days after shipment on their site. That seems a little off to me. I usually receive packages in 2-3 business days using UPS ground. Again, we'll see.

Follow up: 05 June 2002
I received a second email Sunday morning verifying my "PENDING ORDER" which listed item details for my purchase and promised a tracking number as soon as my payment and address were verified. Since then, nothing. I emailed them Monday when my credit card was charged to ask for a tracking number. I emailed them again Tuesday. Neither email generated a response. I finally called today. I was able to get through after a few tries and was greeted by a loud "SALES!". Everything at EYD seems to be in all caps. Even on the phone.
The sales rep sounded annoyed when I asked him the status of my order. However, he did look it up and told me it would ship tonight and that I would receive a tracking number tomorrow morning.
My credit card was charged Monday, yet they are shipping my package on Wednesday evening. Not exactly what I would call customer service. I am beginning to get a bad feeling about this company, but at least they say my camera is on it's way.

Follow up: 08 June 2002
Well, my tracking number wasn't emailed Thursday morning. I waited until Friday and called them again. They said the package was shipped Thursday (rather than Wednesday as they said earlier) and that they would research my order and email me a tracking number as soon as possible.
It's Saturday afternoon and I've yet to receive the promised tracking number.
I followed up each phone call with an email. I have yet to receive a single response to any email I have sent them.
I got their machine when I tried to call them today. It says they may be experiencing high call volume, although I suspect they either aren't there, or just don't answer the phone. It's Saturday. During business hours on weekdays, I'm usually able to get through after 1 or 2 tries.
As a side note, I placed an order with newegg.com 3 days ago. The tracking number they sent me the day after I placed my order indicates that my package is on a truck ready to be delivered to my house today. Yet, after 7 days, I don't even have a tracking number for my Essentially Yours Digital order. Will I order from them again? You make the call.

"After reviewing this site, BBB sites and other sales info sites, I gave Essentially Your a try to purchase a Canon Digital Camera. They didn't have the best price, but had the best of those companies with decent ratings.
An interesting experience - I started by calling the 800# to get only recordings or voice mail. Ads and voice mail highly suggested using their email. So I sent an email explaining what I wanted,etc.
Within literally minutes, I had a reply asking for my phone number. Within 15 minutes they called me. I gave them the order including some prices I had found elsewhere and they matched those prices. They even found where they had a price posted incorrectly and gave me the benefit. That was Thursday, they said it would ship Friday. I was in no hurry and selected UPS ground expecting the camera within a week or so. Shipping cost was high, $25. Confirmation of order arrived via email within minutes.
On the following Monday, the camera arrived UPS 2nd Day, all in good order.
On the following Thursday, the accessories package arrived. Everything ok, except the wrong battery was shipped. I emailed EYD and again got a reply in short order that they would reship.
A few days later I got the correct battery and UPS showed up to collect the wrong one for return.
It has been a couple of months and billing on the credit card was correct and the product has worked flawlessly. All in all a very unique, but excellent experience.
A little research into all the shipping and return addresses revealed that this and a number of other on-line stores essentially work as agents or sales operations for centralized warehousing operations. The key is finding a friendly and responsive agent, one who isn't too busy to be personal yet efficient enough to deliver. I would buy from this one again."

the first one made no sense, the second one did, but on friday, the UPS person just passed right by.

will not buy from them ever, want to squish them like bug and pretend they never existed.
