"Never got my TV. Do not return phone calls, and lie constantly. Customer service is rude and unresponsive. Tried to prevent me from canceling my order my threatening to charge my credit card anyway! Avoid! Avoid! Avoid!"
"Ripped off! Ordered a Sony DSC-W digital camera at a competitive price, $299.00 on-line with shipping and handling to be another $20.00.
That day, I received a call from them asking if I'd like to add on an accessory kit and get free shipping, for an additional $60.00. I okayed the additional, but then got an invoice for an extra $100.00.
I complained to Discover Card, and merchant refused to allow credit, using the false invoice as its "evidence."
Discover bought their bull --
Bad marks for Fotoconnection and for using Discover for on-line purchasing."
"The old bate and switch. After ordering they wanted to confirmation by phone. The Canon 20D had no us warranty but one could purchesed and two week wait was required, or for $200 more I could have the us version. Bells went off and I canceled. So classical."
"I just tried to purchase a Sony TV from fotoconnection.com. They showed it as "in stock" and gave me an order confirmation INCLUDING shipping which should have been 5-7 days. I called them 5 days after ordering and they said that the one they had in stock was "defective" and it would be two more weeks. Then I get a call two days later telling me that he can't ship it to the San Francisco Bay Area for that price and that I need to pay more. (They new my location when the original order was confirmed) when I complained that we had a contract for the original price, he wanted to sell me an extended warranty. When I said no, he said he didn't have time to argue, and hung up the phone on me."
"Price on website was incorrect - when they called to confirm order they said it was a misprint. Forced to cancel order as it was a $200 error!"
"I just made a big pruchase from this store and received NO confirmation number, NO invoice number, and NO tracking number. I cannot get in touch with the company and am now very scared. I read all these reviews a day late. Luckily my credit card company has my back on this one. If the item doesnt show up on time, they will reverse the charges and I'll get my money back. fotoconnection did try to pressure me into buying a lot of extra stuff, but never seemed to get angry or upset when I refused. So far the lack of any kind of confirmation or tracking number telling me the item is in stock and shipped makes me not want to deal with the company again. I spent over $2600, the least they could do is make me feel ok about the purchase.
UPDATE: Item arrived a day early, charged exactly what I should have been, customer service was quick and helpful to get me a tracking number when i called. I'm not real impressed with DHL though. They should try UPS."
"Like many people on here, I discovered this site after ordering from fotoconnection.com. However, my experience was a bit different. I just called them everyday to see if it had shipped. About a week later the reciever shipped and was on my doorstep in 3 days. Besides having bad customer service and slow shipping it was all in all a great deal. So if you find this site after you purchase an item, don't be overly concerned you will probably recieve your item. However, I would not purchase from them again."
"OK, I know this will sound like a conflict with several other buyer's experiences, but the guys at FOTOCONNECTION.COM did me right! I spoke to Mike at x203 and told him I was looking for a Plasma TV. After a few back-and-forth discussions, I settled on the Panasonic TH42PX25 unit (true HD, 42"). List price is $5500 or so. They advertised it on FROOGLE and other websites at $3500. I was asked a few different ways if I wanted any upgrades, but in each case I simply asked for the VERY SPECIFIC DETAIL of each upgrade and I agreed or refused. It was purely my choice. I was asked for a $250 warranty, which I am GLAD I CHOOSE, and I was told that shipping would be $250. I was also offered 'special shipping insurance' to make any claims easier for me, which I declined, and several sets of cables and stands, etc... all of which I already had.
OK, $4000 now (TV+3yrWarr+shipping), but it's exactly what I agreed to. The TV arrived as promised, the charge statement reflected ONLY what I agreed to, No issues, no surprises.
I would be happy to purchase for FOTOCONNECTION again... (thanks Mike)"
"The sales people really knew their stuff, were professional, and courteous. I would definitely recommend using fotoconnection for all electronics"
"This is online buying at its worst. Tired sales people, hustling you to call your credit card company to approve the purchase, call them so that they can hard sell you more stuff, including service contracts...
And they charge you a sales tax, and they really do not know what the tax rates should be. When I pushed as to why 6% (not the rate for my location) and they kept hanging up. After 4 calls, I hanged up for good and call Visa to stop payment, and refused shipment when DHL arrived.
DO NOT BUY FROM THEM. It's more trouble than you want to deal with."
"Typical bait and switch seller. They advertise a low price and take your order online, then force you to call them to confirm. During the confirmation call they quote a different total, and when asked for an explanation they say it's a 6% charge to insure your purchase. After sufficient arguing they may finally -- and rudely -- agree to remove the additional charge. Whether they ever then fill the order and correctly charge for the item remains to be seen. Chose a different seller."
"I tried to purchase a Canon Elura 70 throuogh my sister at Christmas time, and through a mistake of her's, the camera sold to someone else, so they claimed, because the billing address and the shippling address for the product were not the same. So, I decided that I would order the camcorder myself, without the middleman. On 1/19/05, I placed an order over the internet and it was accepted. I received an order number confirmation. I waited about 20 mintues and contacted the company directly, but they did not show the order yet and I was rudely told to call back in 20 minutes. I waited unti 1/20/05 and called Customer Service, and they said the order was cancelled. I said how could it be cancelled when I just ordered it the day before. After some searching, the lady stated that it was automatically cancelled, because it was previously ordered in December. Though I did not understand what she was talking about, I asked to order the product over the phone. She transferred me to a "Sales Rep." When I spoke with the "gentlemen" he said he would check his stock, and put me on hold. He came back on the line about 3 minutes later and asked if he could help me. I said that he was helping me and looking for the camcorder. He said oh yeah, the price I was quoted on the internet is for the camcorder only, no extras. If I wanted a battery it was extra. I said the camcorder comes with accessories; a battery, remote, and lense, and that the internet site does not mention a "Body" only. He then hung up the phone. When I called customer service, the also hung up. This company is to be avoided at all costs. They have no customer service and they are very rude. I cancelled the order."
"Ordered a Mitsubishi Dimond Series WD-62825 Rear Projection TV from these clowns. The order was accepted and I revieved a conformation email immediatly after I submitted the order. Two or Three days later a sales rep who said his name was Levi called me to confirm my order. He quoted me a price $200.00 more than what my invoice said I would be charged and claimed it was for insurance and that they would not ship the set without insurance. Even with the additional $200.00 it was a good deal and I approved the increase. Then they did the hard sell to try and sell me an extended warrenty, priority shipping and batteries ??? I held firm and declined them all, several times. Each time the were offered to me for less than the time before. This guy berates me for not choosing the extended warrenty at $99.00 but when I refuse several times he gives up. Then I was told I would have to send them a copy of my credit card so that they knew that it was my card and that I had it. Sounded fishy to me but I followed through I was still saving $1000.00 over the next lowest price on the web so I did as was requested. I called a week later but could not get through to Levi so I selected customer service from the phone support menu. After waiting for 20 minutes some guy picks up, takes my invoice number and puts me on hold while he "checks with Shipping". He gets back on the line after about 10 minutes and tells me that all they have in stock right now are the international version (if you have read other reviews on this complany you know where this is going. He says that the US version won't be in until next Wednesday but that it will be shipped out then. I called back on Wednesday morning to make sure my TV will be shipped that day and I get Levi. He takes my invoice number but can't find my order. He puts me on hold for about 5 minutes, comes back and says we don't sell Mitsubishi TVs. I said well it's listed on your web site and he says Yeah I know that but we don't sell them. Would you like a Samsung or a Sony TV, I can make you a good deal on the Sony and it has a higher rating than the Mitsubushi. I said no thank you just cancel the order. He says are you sure you don't want the Sony and I say yeah I'm sure to which he says Ok. I ask him for a conformation number for my cancellation and he says they don't do that, so I had to go to my credit card company and stop the transaction so that these crooks don't get my money."
"Terrible customer service. TV was delivered broken and I still have not been able to reorder the TV. They have given me the run around about the return. I'm out almost 3k and still without a TV. I think a class action suit may be in order. "
"Ordered a Garmin iQue 3200 for $359 as a gift on December 17th (Friday). Got an automated email saying different shipping address was not on file with card issuer (Wrong!). Called Monday to tell service rep to check again. Called Tuesday and still not cobfirmed. Rep then said quoted price was for European map version (which was NOT noted on their wabsite) - which Garmin says is not available here. Wanted $500 + shipping + sales tax for North American version. When I told him it was available for $389 with free shipping, he sold it to me for $450 (including shipping & second day air - which I had to go for as it was so close to Christmas). Had I not called, I would have been sent the European version. This is both fraudulently misleadind and/or bait & switch. Stay away from this vendor!"
