"I have been using Acqua di Gio for the past six years. I have shopped from this retailer before, and have been happy with them, until now. I don't believe this last shipment of Acqua di Gio is authentic. Maybe it is very very old stock and the smell has deteriorated. It smells nothing like the original Acqua di Gio. I will not do business with them again."
"With so many places selling counterfeit perfumes, I was not sure whether to trust this merchant or not. I was pleasantly surprised. The item arrived on time and seems to be the original. Will definitely shop here again."
"I would like to state that I am an international customer (Australia). I had made a few purchaces from these company in the past and never had troubles. Unfortunately I did not receive my last order. I contacted Fragnancenet and they applied that if I did not receive my order in 6 weeks to contact them again. Since I did not receive my order I sent a new email. I received an imediate reply that the money will be depositted back into my account. Until today (29 January 2010) I have not received neither my order, nor my money. I would not shop from this company again and I hope that my experience would be a worning to potential buyers. Stay away from Fragnancenet. The shipping costs are extremely high..and you might not be lucky to receive your order..."
"My wife placed a previous order with Fragrancenet.com then shortly after we started seeing charges on our credit card for Shoppers Discount for $12.00 a month. Shoppers discount is one of those scam services that partners with companies so at the end of the order process some pages come up for rebates or extra services and depending on what is clicked you are signed up for their service, with Fragrancenet.com providing your credit card info. to Shoppers Discount. Be careful what you click on if you place an order with Fragrancenet.com!!!!"
"I had made a number of purchases at this internet business on several previous occasions and never had any cause for dissatisfaction with any phase of the transaction.
Unfortunately, however, I must register a very serious complaint regarding something which occurred in connection with my most recent purchase.
Several weeks after receiving the purchased item in good order, I received by mail a check purporting to be a rebate for a purchase made at FragranceNet.com. I was not expecting a rebate and fortunately for me I first examined this item very closely, whereupon I discovered the following in very fine print (which I am quoting exactly):
On the front of the check was printed: "By cashing or depositing this check you are purchasing a membership in AutoVantage Enhanced."
The rear of the check contained the following statement, again an exact quote: "I authorize AutoVantage Enhanced to bill the annual membership fee after my risk-free trial. I agree to a thirty-day trial offer in AutoVantage Enhanced. I understand that my membership will be automatically extended for an additional eleven months and the $149.99 annual membership fee will be automatically billed to my credit card on file with FragranceNet.com unless I cancel my membership by calling 1-***-***-**** before the end of the trial period. At the end of the first year, my membership will be automatically renewed at the $159.99 annual fee for the next twelve months and I will also be billed every year thereafter at the then-current fee unless I call to cancel for a refund of the unused portion of the current year's fee. By cashing this check I authorize FraganceNet.com to securely transfer my credit card information to AutoVantage Enhanced for enrollment, billing and benefit processing.
CHECK VOID IF ALTERED OR UNSIGNED."
I think I should not fail to point out that I have no idea what "AutoVantage Enhanced" is or what “benefits” were being offered. Had I unwittingly deposited the check, I would no longer have been in possession of the toll-free number stated above. In any case I do find it absolutely outrageous that a legitimate, well established business, as FragranceNet.com is presumed to be, would cooperate in exposing their customers to what is obviously an attempt to deceive for financial gain. Conceivably FragranceNet.com was not even aware of this although that seems unlikely given that they are named in the above quotations.
I Emailed FragranceNet.com with exact details of the above experience but received no response.
After doing some research on the Internet I found numerous complaints regarding similar scams perpetrated under name AutoVantage Enhanced, most of them by people who to their misfortune had actually cashed one of these checks.
FragranceNet continues to literally bombard me with advertising.
Other than refraining from further purchases, which I will most certainly do, what can be done to sanction businesses that are evidently complicit in such dubious practices?

"Was not happy with the fragrance I purchased. I have been using this brand for years and the one they sent me did not smell the same. I returned it and was a big hassel to get the money back. Lost the shipping charges both ways."
"While they fulfilled my order quite well, everything peripheral sucked. their web site, while well-designed, inundates the user with ads. I tried to view a product I wanted, and an ad scrolled over it blocking my view. I got through the order process, and a pop-under window started yelling at me. after that, I thought, fine, happy to be done with them, but then they sold my e-mail address to a bunch of spam lists who can now target e-mails to me well enough to get past my spam filter. stay away, or at least use a disposable e-mail address. "
"A+++++ got my product asap, arrived in perfectly fine conditon, and everything was packed perfectly, ahh smells galore! recieved Bulgari Aqua, Black XS and Cool water , thanks!!"
"well I bought for me and my wife fragrances for more than 400 $...this guys gave me a good discount and they deliver it fast., so I truly recomand this site.."
"fragrancenet.com provides heavily discounted prices on several popular name-brand perfumes, colognes, and related items. Their prices alone make a visit to their website worth it. If you're used to purchasing fragrances at chain department stores, you might assume that fragrancenet is selling knockoffs. Based on their guarantees, and on what I received, they are certainly not. What they sell is the real thing.
I ordered an eau de toilette, popular among twenty-somethings, as a gift. fragrancenet's price was exactly half what I had paid in the past at a local mall shop, so I ordered two, and got free shipping thrown in.
Their web site is relatively easy to navigate, and indicated that the item was in stock. I checked for a few other items (for men) and found that they were listed as Out of Stock. I called their toll-free number to inquire and was provided very pleasantly (by a local person - no strange, foreign accents!) with the information I sought.
I ordered on Friday morning, and received my order the following Thursday. Because I am so spoiled by the lightning-fast shipping from Newegg.com, this seemed a bit slow to me. However, it is actually a reasonable turnaround.
fragrancenet.com also accepts PayPal, a big plus.
They provided several status emails at every step of the process, from ordering through delivery (5 in all). They also provide an online order status check facility.
My shipment came with a free sample of another fragrance, as well as some coupons for future purchase discounts.
In summary, my experience was extremely pleasant, and I received exactly what I was looking for at a terrific price, with no shipping charges. If my order had been shipped a few days earlier, this vendor would have received a perfect rating. But I will certainly use them for any fragrance-related purchases I'll be making in the future.
Now, if only there were a way to send scents via email..."
"I must disagree with the former reviewer; this company is the pits to do business with.
Add them to the growing list of etailers that advertise something as being in stock, when in fact they don't actually have the item.
I placed an order, got confirmation that yes, all the items were in stock and my order would be processed immediately. My credit card was charged.
72 hours later, I get an email informing me that item XYZ is not in stock...sorry. "Here's your $5 coupon for your inconvenience." Not only was it out of stock, but it took them THREE days to let me know!
I'm not rich, but you can keep your $5! I'd rather go to the mall and overpay by $20 and actually HAVE the perfume rather than wait 3 days to find out that I've been played for a fool. My fiancee was expecting this as a gift. Now I've got to find this stuff elsewhere. Thanks a lot, Fragrancenet.com!
That said, they DID email me to let me know that my item wasn't available, and my credit card would be credited, which it was. Hooray for bots.
I emailed their customer service to express my dissatisfaction and never received a reply.
They will never see another dime of my money."
"This is a very good company. They ship out orders in a timely manner and package the items well. Prices are very good and customer service is also superb.
I would definately (will) buy from them again."
