"Their pre-orders are a scam. I pre-ordered a game that was discounted 5 dollars if you pre-ordered it. So the price was 54.99 instead of 59.99. The receipt I printed listed the price as 54.99 and a warning that if you did not pick up the game within 48hrs of its release you will be charged a 5 dollar restocking fee. When I go to pick it up the guy rings it up at the normal price of 59.99. I told him it is supposed to be 54.99 and showed him the printed receipt. He claimed all pre-orders carry a 5 dollar fee no matter what and that is why they discounted it by 5 dollars so that it would still be sold for the normal price. Of course this was not true at all. I held firm, definitely willing to walk away if they charged me the extra 5 bucks, so he finally rang it up at the correct price by adding a generic 5 dollar discount to the transaction. Of course the receipt lists the game as 59.99, no mention of 5 dollar pre-order fee, and the 5 dollar manual discount. Never pre-order from them, ever. The price they show online is not guaranteed to be reflected when you pick it up in the store. And if you do walk on the deal, they will automatically charge you that 5 dollar restocking fee since you did not make the purchase. Which you will then have to dispute via your credit card company. Gamestop is not worth the trouble, avoid them at all costs."

"Ordered an item on Thursday, paid the extra cost for over night shipping. Item doesn't arrive until Monday. Tried calling their support to cancel, of course no one is there. I plan on contacting better business bureau, if they don't plan on shipping during weekends then they cannot advertise overnight shipping."

"One of the worst transactions I have ever done. Bought two items, both where shipped seperately, Both where lost. contacted customer service and they kept on giving me the same answers, "it appears your item was lost, would you like a replacement or a refund", but never got neither from them. I finally got an email from a representative saying its between me and the post office...........post office tracking number said it was sent back to them because they didn't write the addresses write. not to mention it takes more then 3 days so they can repond through emails, and waiting on the phone for more then 45 minutes (sometimes longer) to get through to a representative, who tells you to wait for an email so you can fill out....I had to contact my credit card company and file a claim to get my money back. horrible."

"Horrible. I will never shop at Gamestop again. I bought a used game and bought the insurance for it. Before I did, I ask the guy who work there if the insurance I bought would be return to me if I return the product. He said yes. When I did return the product and ask my insurance money to be return to me they said no. Also, on the game box it said thirty day money back, but they said I cannot return the system back for money. What cheaters. "

"I had an order in as a pre order for socom. First they charge me $15, then they charge me $75 but couldnt ship . I call and correct my order info that was holding it from shippng. I log online and now the order is cnacelled. I will officially never buy at or online from gamestop.

SCAM company. Bad busines, worse phone support. Pricing stinks, and they just dont have a clue...

"I recently ordered Mario Kart Will from Gamestop and have to say I am quite pleased with the results. I have been looking for this game for the past couple months with no luck. A week ago, I found it on Gamestop and ordered it since I had very good experience with their brick-and-mortar stores. On a whim, I decided to look up reviews on the store and saw that most reviewers gave them poor ratings. I debated on cancelling my order due to all of the negative comments, but in the end decided to see the order through and see what would happen. About a week later, my game came. I was very impressed to receive this game in such a timely fashion at a reasonable price given how popular and hard to come by it is. I think some of the other reviewers might have run into problems by making a complicated order or pre-order, but for simple orders Gamestop works as advertised."

"I ordered Metal Gear Solid 4 months ago, as my brother was looking forward to it and had gift cards for EbGames/Gamestop. I thought since our nearest EB/Gamestop is half an hour away this would save time, gas, and hassle. Well, I was wrong!

A day before the game's release we found out the game had been shipped with Next Day Air, GREAT! We were happy that we would be getting the game on the release date, as promised by Gamestop on their website. The release date came and around 8 p.m. we knew it was too late for UPS to deliver so we called Gamestop asking what was up. The customer service rep, after finally answering the phone, said she would refund our shipping and we should receive the game the next day.

The next day we waited as we had the day before, and no game. Disappointed, I called Gamestop again and finally reached a rep. He told us it had been lost in the mail (huh?) and we could either get a replacement or a full refund. Not wanting to wait another week to get the game we asked for a refund. Unfortunately, nothing has shown up yet, it may have not been long enough for the refund to show up, but I hope it does soon! I don't have a lot of faith in their customer service though. I had to go out to the store and purchase this game so we would even have it remotely close to the release date.

June 28, 08 - Update! Still no refund. I've been on the phone with Gamestop at least 7 times trying to find out what is going on! They recently tried to recharge my card when they were sending out replacements. The thing is, I don't want a replacement! I want my money back! I'm wondering at this moment if I need to file a complaint with my CC to get my money back.

"If you can possibly avoid it, don't buy from Game Stop. Here's why:

I recently ordered a PS3 from Game Stop. I was a little leery, because of a previous bad experience, but they were the only people I could find with 60gb PS3s at a reasonable price, so I took the plunge. Because I was in the middle of a move, it was essential I get the item fast. So I chose the "One day processing, two day shipping" option. My order was placed on a Saturday. I figured that meant they would process by order on Monday, and on Wednesday or Thursday at the latest, my PS3 would arrive.

Wednesday rolled around, and not only did I not have a tracking number, but Game Stop still listed my order as "Verifying." Watching my time slip away, I picked up the phone and called them... Let me back track a second and tell you about my previous game stop experience.

About two years ago, I ordered a Gamecube for my kids for Christmas. I ordered it via Game Stop on Amazon.com, about a month before the holiday so I could be sure it would arrive in time. About a week before Christmas, I still hadn't received the Game cube, but they had charged my credit card the day I made the purchase. When I called Game Stop, they said the item was out of stock indefinitely, and that someone should have let me know, and I shouldn't have been charged, but that was a problem with Amazon, not game stop. (I order from Amazon all the time without issues, BTW)

So having had that previous experience, when I called Game Stop and was told my item was back ordered and couldn't be delivered, I was upset and demanded to speak with a manager. I got William on the phone. He was very polite. Insured my that while inventory was low, the PS3s were, in fact, in stock, and he would personally supervise the immediate processing of my order, although he told me there was no "one day processing option." If I login to Game Stop my order still says "Allow 2 business days for transit & 1 business day for processing." Anyway, he promised to refund my shipping, and said I should see my order had shipped on the web site no later than the next morning.

Thursday was a busy day, and I was unable to check the web before 3pm, but my order was still "Verifying." So I called back in. This time I spoke with Ashley. I talked her back through my history, and she said my order was being filled in the stock room, and the computer was just running slow. Okay, I thought, no worries.

At 8pm, the web site updated. Game Stop unashamedly shipped me a blu-ray remote control, and a component video cable for the PS3, and placed my PS3 on back order. I called in and insisted they put William back on the phone. He told me that all of the stock room people were gone for the day and there was no way he could find out what happened until the next day, but he stilled showed they had 60gb PS3s in stock and promised he would call me back.

The next afternoon, when I still hadn't heard from William, I called again. This time the agent I spoke to, Ashley again, told me that William had nothing new to tell me. I asked if he was refusing to speak with me, and she said no and transfered me. When I got William, he just kept telling me he was sorry but there was nothing he could do. In fact, he couldn't even cancel my back ordered PS3 order! I asked to speak with his manager, and was told he was gone for the day. Never did he accept that he or Game Stop had done anything wrong, he just kept repeating there was nothing he could do until I gave up and told him I would call back to speak with his manager the next day.

Then the happy ending, they actually shipped my PS3 the next day, and it arrived the day we got on the airplane. However, while their customer service was polite, they were useless, their order fulfillment process is not only slow, it's deceptive, they don't even recognize they HAVE a one day order processing, so don't expect that no matter how much you pay. Finally, there is no correlation what-so-ever between "in stock" on their web site, and actual stock levels. Buyer beware. I got lucky. You may not.

"Worst customer service I have ever received!

Placed a preorder for a Wii bundle and received and email saying I needed to update my billing address to match my shipping address. My shipping address is authorized by my credit card, but store policy dictates they won't ship to a different address. Whatever, quite a pain, but followed the directions to update my address. Three days later I received another email saying I need to update my billing address.

Tried to call the 800 number, but was repeatedly told they could not answer my call at this time and was disconnected. What company disconnects customers instead of queuing them? Called back repeatedly until I was finally put in the queue and then waited on hold for ~30 minutes before I made it through to a representative.

The representative was extremely snotty and petulant over the phone. It sounded like he wanted to do be doing anything except helping customers with their orders. After explaining the situation I was told my order was fine. By that time I had found this site and read the reviews and alarm bells are going off. I asked for some explaination as to why I was receiving the emails. I was told that everything was fine in a tone of voice that screamed go away.

Given the other reviews on this site, I am curious to see what condition my system arrives in and how long it will take me to return it if it arrives damaged. You would think that a company this large could invest in some training of their customer service representatives.

Will never purchase from this vendor again.

Got free overnight shipping with a coupon code.
They shipped it before release date, so that it could get to my doorstep on time.
Good communication and tracking number, no problems.
I was a little weary after reading these reviews, but everything was alright.

"Prompt shipment. Product as described. After submitting an order thinking it was free shipping, I realized they charged me $10 for handling. So I sent them an email right after I submitted the order telling them to cancel it. But they still shipped it the day after, this is what makes me mad, can't they check if they have any emails regarding the order before shipping the item? So later, I called them and they dropped the $10."

"well ebgames/gamestop came managed to follow up bad customer service with possibly the insulting ive ever dealt with. after calling about a early entry pre-order code i was supposed to receive and being told "i cant believe we didnt send it to you, we will email it to you.", never received email.

so i send an email saying forget it, its no big deal it was a three day thing and its too late now anyway. i said i didnt appreciate being blown off so could you please cancel another preorder i had and gave them that order #.
i get a reply saying thanks for your inquiry but sorry we cant cancel your order because it already shipped, the pre-order doesnt ship till march 2008!!!!! the order number they tried to cancel was the order i wanted the pre-order code from.

so i reply and say please read the transcript of emails between us. asking that, its fine if your dont care, just dont throw it in my face that your couldnt give a crap.

i get the standard thanks for the inquiry reply and the day after i get my pre-order code??? 1 day after official launch they send me my pre-order code for early entry??? thanks a lot for letting me know how stupid you think i am.

"Worst Customer Service I Have Ever Had! I placed an order with them that was supposed to ship the next day. Went online the next day to track it and it was backordered per thier website.

I decided to purchase the product somewhere else so I sent an email to them to cancel the order. I waited a day, no responce. Sent another one, waited a day, still no responce. After much seraching I finally found a phone number for thier customer service.

After spending 1hr 13m on hold I was greeted by a wicked btch who informed me that I should attempt to contact them by email before calling. After arguing with her she finally canceled my order.

This was my first and last expirience with GameStop.Com

"EBgames and Gamestop used to be very reputable in the video game market, EB always had better service, but I had few complaints about either. But since EB bought Gamestop both have lost any form of customer service. I have had problems with the last 3 orders I made from them. The most recent was a pre-order. I made the order 2 weeks prior to the game being released, but never received a conformation email. Two weeks later the game is released and my order status doesn't change for 2 days. I sent 2 emails to their customer service email listed on the order page and never received a response... The game shipped 3 days after release. I thought the whole idea behind pre-ordering was that the store would rush the item to you so you'd have it shortly after release. I will be shopping elsewhere for all my games in the future."
