"Ordered a game with Gamestop, the same day the order was processed. I imported my game from Gamestop.com to the Uk so shipping was slightly pricey.
I received my game 3 days after in perfect condition. Packaging was excellent."
"On June 1, 2005, I placed an order for a used copy Breath of Fire III for PSX. They did confirm my order and did ship out the order and promptly as well. Shipping was not to slow as I did receive the item quickly, but when I opened the package and looked at the back of the used PSX CD, I gasped and knew right away that the game was not going to work correctly. So, I popped the game CD into my PS2 and the game began to play. I was happy at the time, but then I continued to play for about 5 minutes and the game locked up during the first battle when it was trying to load a skill animation. After repeating that battle 5 times and having it lock up 5 times and once on an original PSX, my fears came true. I was upset by the fact that they even sold this to me in the first place. You can clearly tell it was damaged. There were deep scratches and gouges, there was some unknown waxy substance on it, and it had thousands of lines circling the CD as if it had been cleaned to try and cover it up. Whether or not it was cleaned by Gamestop or by the previous owner is unknown, but based on the condition, they should not have even sold that too anyone, as you could have literally tested it for 5 minutes to find out it was not functioning properly. Plus on other attempts to play the game, my PS2 read the game CD as a Music CD, which just tells you how bad the CD was. But this is only the beginning.
I e-mailed Gamestop asking them for an RMA number so I could return the damaged item and get a refund for the game. They responded promptly to my request, but instead of giving me an RMA number they said they would just ship me another used copy. That sounded great to me, but I quickly realized that it was out of stock. 2 weeks later the game is still out of stock. So, I e-mailed them again telling them that I would rather just get a refund then wait forever for another used copy. They quickly canceled the new order and said they would refund me. 3 weeks later, still no refund. I sent them one final e-mail, this time a very nasty and bitter e-mail, requesting a refund. I think they finally got the hint and one month and six days later I finally got my refund for a lousy $17.19. So, I advise anyone to never buy from this company, for any reason at all. Go to there competitors. I have ordered from EBgames online at least a dozen times and all their used games are in perfect working condition. Now I have never shopped in an actual Gamestop store, but if there real stores are anything like there online store, I will stay as far away as I can. Once again beware of this company as they will sell you any used CD, regardless of condition."
"After ordering a game Monday afternoon, the company sent it out via 3-day UPS on Tuesday, or so they said. After it not arriving on Friday scheduled, a call to UPS on Monday resulted in finding out that UPS had never received the package, only the billing information for it.
A call to GameStop confirmed this; the CS rep was able to confirm that the package was never shipped, but did not know why. I was given the choice of a refund or a replacement unit, I picked the later and was bumped up to 2-day FedEx at no extra cost. The second unit shipped Tuesday and arrived as expected.
While I give them credit for bumping up the shipping on the product, the fact that they didn't actually ship it the first time around but still reported that they did is gross negligence on their part, and it shouldn't have taken a call to the company to get them to fix it, this is something they should have noticed on their own. I would not buy from them again."
"I made the mistake of pre-ordering several games from this site, and hoped that they would send out the orders (Listed all as "Usually ships in 24 hours" in a moderate amount of time. Three days after I placed my order, the item was listed as "Back Ordered" and checking their policy, I'd have to wait around 6-8 weeks minimum to get my order.
Well, it's been two months, and I finally cancelled in frustration. Beyond the initial invoice, I got no information whatsoever concerning my order. Horrible experience."
"I ordered from VUGames.com (which is the same as Gamestop, the emails had return addresses to gamestop.com) and had a perfect transaction! I paid, they sent, and I recieved my item quickly! Had no problems whatsoever!"
"They had what I wanted at a good price. It was easy to order, arrived faster than they thought it would, and was in perfect condition. I would buy from them again."
"Best price I could find on the game I wanted, and they got it to me trouble free and a day earlier than I was expecting."
"I ordered a used Eye Toy from their website for my kids for Xmas on Dec. 2. On Dec 2. when I ordered, the website said "In stock" On Dec. 3 the website said they were "In Stock" On Dec 4 the website said they were "In Stock" Same on Dec. 5., 6th, 7th, 8th. All these days my order was pending. Now on Dec. 9, my order says the item is on backorder!!!! I will not get it in time for Xmas. This company advertises products it does not have to sell. Stay away no matter what."
"If dealing with a company committed to false advertising and accepting orders under false pretenses, this is the place for you. Preordered
Vampires The Masquerade: Bloodlines because of free
shipping and free t-shirt. After the product shipped,
I got an email stating that I would'nt get the t-shirt cause they didn't get them, would I settle for some other game related t-shirt. Replied that I wanted what I was promised when I placed the order. That I should have been given the opportunity to cancel if they can't fulfill their end of the bargain. They never replied. I received
some lameass POS t-shirt for Zelda.
Appartently these tools don't have accountabilty for falsely advertising products and accepting orders under false pretenses. They only want to seperate you from you money under any circumstance. On a previous order that offered a
t-shirt, it didn't arrive with the game, and I had
to waste more time with these morons getting what
was promised at the time the order was placed. Buy games anywhere else but here. Everything becomes a
pain in the ass with these people.
"
"Cancelled my order for no reason whatsoever. I only received a confirmation email that appeared that my order was a go. I checked on 11/18/2004 to see the status of my order and found it to be cancelled in its entirety. I see from the other reviews that this is the standard operating procedure for this reseller. "
"Ordered a 6800 GT video card. Order was cancelled with no email or explanation. They will not return my email requests to re-instate my order. Customer service is terrible. Will NEVER do business w/ them again."
"I pre-ordered the Everquest II game about 2 months before it came out online. Even used next day delivery so that I would get it on the day it started. Well I won't go into the hell that was them constantly changing the shipping day. But here comes the 8th when it was going to ship. Well my order shows processing. Well I call them to make sure it will be shipped that day. They say no problem it will be shipped later that day. So that same day they change the status to shipped but when I go to fedex it shows it has not been picked up yet but data was recieved at 10am that day. Well nothing changes the whole day. I already set up to take half the day off so I can be there when it comes to my house. Well come to find out the day it should have been at my house that it had gotten to the fedex hub to late for shipment they would have to send it the next day. So there goes my next day delivery. Not only that but after all the calls I made from ordering to the point of asking about when it will ship they have had at least two others games that have had this problem before. So either it is two things. Gamestops shipping department has no idea that maybe they should get fedex to pick up next day and two day packages early in the day. Or its Fedex's fault. But if it is Fedex's fault this hasn't been the first time so why does Gamestop still go through them?"
"Ordered a BFG 6800GT card from them on November 1st as a pre-order with an ETA of November 5. I go to check my order status on the 5th and see that it's back ordered. I then go to the website and it says the card usually ships within 24 hours. Not cool to take more pre-orders than you can actually ship out, and then to say the item is available on the website when you've told pre-orders that it's back ordered is not acceptable. Will never purchase from them again!!
EDIT: They cancelled my order on the 11th, didn't even send an e-mail to tell me, I had to check my order status and call them which meant even more on hold time WITH THE SAME ANNOYING SONG GOING ON. I still say never shop with them, they did nothing to make me even consider ordering again."
"Ordered two preowned games: Project Gotham Racing and Corvette for the XBOX. Processing and Shipping took 7 days (8/30/04 - 9/7/04). Not bad for $1.99 S/H. The games work but could be in better shape. Overall, good experience."
"I'll never preorder something from them again. I expected to receive the game 2 days after the ship date, but despite being a preorder it took them another day to realize they should prepare the orders for shipping. I would have thought that since they have the games already, they could at least prepare slap some FedEX labels on them and have them all ready to go on what they had all over their website as "SHIPS AUGUST 3RD!". I guess it should have said "PREPARES TO SHIP AUGUST 3RD!""
