"Horrible experience. Sent in a perfectly working Galaxy S10 phone that had been disconnected from both Verizon and the Google account it had been associated with. Received a reply that the phone was still associated with a Google account and that it wouldn't make calls. Both claims were false. Offered me $2 instead of the original 44. I replied and explained why both claims were not true, and just got a form letter back saying I could request a re-inspection but no information on how to request. I had the phone sent back, did NOTHING to the phone, and sent it to Buybackworld. Their inspection verified that the phone was in excellent condition and promptly paid me their original $50 offer, which was better than gazelle's anyway. Never again."
"Tried to sell them my Samsung Galaxy S20 Note that was less than 2 years old. Phone looks and works like new. Gazelle originally offered $270 and I sent the phone. They emailed me back saying the offer had been "adjusted" to $26 because it was "still connected to my Google account, does not make a call, and has scratches". The Google thing was easily fixed in about 30 seconds, the rest of Gazelle's narrative is a classic bait and switch scam. Box ID PS47458808779, order SR06739900039. I sent the phone in the original box with charging cable and manual. They kept the box and manual, sent it back loosely packed without adequate protection.
The phone was in like new condition when I sent it, I have videos and pictures of it being boxed up. When I got it back, it had a slight mark in one corner of the bezel that Gazelle is responsible for. It's clear they dropped it or deliberately damaged it. The video and pics I took before sending it show ZERO scratches or damage. I tested the phone with TWO different sims(ATT & Verizon) and both worked perfectly, no trouble making calls. There are multiple reviews all over the internet alleging that Gazelle is claiming damages to phones sent in that had NO damage when they received it.
I had them mail back the phone, listed in on ebay and sold it for $238(item ID 115752091033). Based on my experience and other reviews I have read, it is clear they are making offers on phones they have no intention of honoring. The many reviews that buyers left stating phones that were advertised in "excellent" condition were clearly not, with all different kinds of damage, is further evidence of bait and switch.
Stay far away from Gazelle."
"It's very easy and rewarding to sell to Gazelle. They have everything explained, are responsive and quick. I highly recommend!"
"Ordered an iPhone 12 and received it relatively fast, however, the top speaker didn't work or sounds horrible whenever someone called me. The fact that the "30 point inspection" doesn't include checking the parts that make it a functioning phone is a little surprising. Also their website show reviews from this website and shows a 4.5 star rating when in reality this website has them at a 3 start rating. They offered a "discount and expedited shipping on my next transaction" but their process for that is simply refunding you the money and making you buy the product again, so not sure how they'll get me these discounts. "
"I tried to trade in a phone that I had purchased as a temporary phone while I waited to get a nicer phone. I purchased a brand new pixel 5 in October of last year, promptly put it in an otterbox and replaced it in December with my current phone. Gazelle offered me 100 bucks for my pixel in the reported condition and I accepted the offer. It took almost a whole week for my prepaid box to show up at my house.
About a week went by after mailing my phone in and I just received an email today stating that my phone is in poor condition from what they expected, because it is somehow "scratched up significantly" and they updated the offer to 30$. Total bait and switch scam company. Gives you a high offer with no intention of keeping it, expecting people to just take the crappy offer and not want to deal with the phone being shipped back again. Absolutely not, send me my phone back and I will recommend anyone stay far far away from Gazelle."
"It was easy , fun , and enjoyed every minute of dealing with Gazelle . Everything prompt as usual ! All I can say is Easy , easy , easy ! "
"
We got more than for phones and we thought we were going to, so that was great"
"They always offer the best pricing and make the transaction incredibly easy. "
"I have used Gazelle several times and have been pleased every time. Will use again in the future "
"DO NOT BUY USED NETWORK LOCKED PHONES
I just learned my lesson the hard way (how I learn most of my life lessons). I bought a used iPhone 12 Mini from Gazelle. It was advertised as "AT&T Network" and I assumed that this meant that it was locked to the network, but could be unlocked by the new owner. It wasn't a problem for over a year, because the phone was being used with an AT&T MVNO (Redpocket). Everything great.
Now, I decided to try a T-Mobile MVNO, and discovered that I am not able to unlock the phone through AT&T. Apparently, the original owner purchased the phone on a finance contract and then sold it off without paying it. AT&T will NOT tell me how much is owed. Additionally, AT&T's official policy is that they can deny service to (blacklist) anyone who is using a locked phone on a different account than the original owner.
So as always, "caveat emptor"... and don't try to save a few bucks by buying a network locked phone from Gazelle.
To improve, Gazelle should screen phones and only offer phones that are paid off.
Otherwise, Gazelle is great. They offer a variety of devices at different price points, and the grading system seems to be accurate. I have purchased several phones from them and condition was accurate. "
"Great offer, fast payment, I was treated very fairly and will use Gazelle again."
"I always have a good experience when I send my Apple products to Gazelle. The turn-in is always easy and the turn around is quick!"
"Terrible customer service they used to be pretty good I have bought phones from them for years. But in the last year or so their customer service is almost non existent. Wait times are at about a hour if you dont get disconnected. If you have a issue with a phone or Order your pretty much on your own."
"I have used Gazelle twice now and I have been extremely pleased both times! I was amazed at the quick response I received and how quickly they sent the money to my account. It was such a pleasure to work with a honest and reliable company that also provides quick service. When the need arises I will most definitely be using Gazelle again to sell my electronics."
"Just an awful company. I accepted an offer for them to buy my phone, sent it to them, and then they said I sent them an iPhone 4 and made a new offer of $1. Where does one even get an iPhone 4 in 2023? I rejected their new $1 offer and told them to send me the phone that I sent. They sent me an iPhone 4. I have tried to call them to tell them that this is not the phone I sent them and that I want mine back, but I waited 54 minutes on hold without being able to talk to anyone about it before giving up. I have emailed and am waiting to hear something back. Nothing but frustration and headache, on top of the fact that they've effectively stolen my 9-month old phone and left me with nothing for it. Please, please, please don't send them anything of value."
